The Chail Palace is a large historic property with colonial looks. The Palace is now used as a Hotel by Himachal tourism and not maintained the way it should be. The building is awesome but the upholstery and furniture poor. Rooms are large and amazing. The Maharaja and Maharani suites have Jacuzzis. Ideal place to rest and laze around.

I along with my wife and another couple were on a riding holiday and decided to stay in Chail Palace which was quite a nice place by the look of it. We were given two rooms in basement for 2 nights but was asked to vacate the next morning because someone else had booked it over internet (Don't understand what... More

This place is away from the hustle-bustle of Shimla city yet so near to the city!!! Plan a stay at this place and taking a day-tour to Shimla makes more sense.... The temperatures will be few degrees lower compared to Shimla. The place is very well maintained and gives a feel of a castle!!!

The food was good and economic too. Location is so good, calm and beautiful. One can stay there also and enjoy the serene nature beauty. It's an old royal palace converted to the hotel for tourists. One can have the royal feeling if staying there.

A beautiful Palace with ornate furniture, charming cottages, delightful log huts, thick forests, quiet walks, a 'lovers hill', an orchard of its own, elegant lawns, badminton and lawn tennis court, billiards and even a children's park. In winter, the temperature can drop below freezing point. In summer the climate is mild. I loved everything about the beautiful property. One must... More

It's a palace converted in hotel. The only point of consideration is it's historical importance. Definitely the location is good, but u will not find much in it. Although it is locally famous, I didn't find it anything extraordinary. If u r planning only to visit the location, the entry fee of Rs.100 per person is not worth it.

Chail Palace is basically a heritage property with old construction to which HPTDC have tried to give a modern feel. Rooms are spacious and good. Carpets inside are smelling. Room service is not as quick as it should be. Views from upper rooms are better. One night we spent in wazir room which i personally didnt like and next day... More

If you are at chail then you can visit the palace as it is of historical importance. You can spend not more than half n hour there. Do not plan to visit chail in order to see the palace as it does not worth. If you want stay in the hotel you can spend a day or two just to... More
