My husband and I booked a room here for 2 nights to celebrate NYE 2020. Unfortunately due to Government restrictions we were unable to stay as long as intended, so celebrated a day early on 30th December. Having grown up in the South West we know the standards of local hotels fairly well, and were very impressed by the Glazebrook House Hotel. The only comparable place in the area would be Paschoe House in our view. The hotel itself is very decadent with quirky, classy furnishings throughout. We stayed in the 'Mad Hatter' room, which was exactly as advertised - beautiful high ceilings, large comfortable bed with high quality bedding, an impressive granite bathroom with a large bath, shower and underfloor heating. We were impressed by the attention to detail, even down to the fan, hairdryer, ipad and TV in the room being top quality with no expense spared. The restaurant and bar were also very impressive in their own right - we enjoyed perfectly made cocktails, and a delicious, high-quality meal, followed by an extensive wine menu. Unfortunately due to the restrictions we didn't manage to stay long and travel around too much, but did manage a walk at Haytor Rocks which we'd definitely recommend for beautiful views across Dartmoor. There are lots of lovely walks and cosy looking pubs and restaurants nearby that we intend to come back to visit when we next stay (inc. Pig and Whistle, Avon Inn, and playing golf nearby too). My only tiny qualm is that the breakfast itself was quite small for the price. They provided high quality with a tier of pastries, yoghurts etc, but the breakfast itself (we had avocado, toast and eggs) was quite small - however, the fact that all of the food and drink in the room is complimentary felt very generous and outweighs that minor setback. Overall, highly recommended and do look forward to returning when the restrictions are lifted.

We had Xmas day lunch here. Everything from the warm welcome we received to when we left was excellent. One of us had turkey the other fillet steak was cooked as ordered. The meals were more than adequate and didn’t leave much room for anything for the rest of the day. Well done to everyone at the hotel as all COVID rules were also in place and followed well.. thank you

This Hotel & Restaurant is a favourite of ours, the decor is fascinating and the theme of Alice in Wonderland is really something to look at. Pieter and Fran the hosts are truly lovely people and every visit feels special. As for the food .... to die for, our current favourite is the fine dining Fish and Chips .... so good we keep booking. Request a private room if there is 4 of you, we take my parents ... it makes them feel like film stars ❤️

I must admit, having booked a stay at the hotel to celebrate our anniversary I arrived with some trepidation due to a few negative reviews. However, these were totally dispelled when we arrived at the hotel and received such a warm welcome. Indeed throughout our entire stay all staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and we were always made to feel special. So, the hotel is unique with themed decor throughout, all of which has been beautifully and tastefully thought through. There have been necessarry changes due to Covid but these do not detract from the beauty of the hotel and meant we did always feel safe. The whole hotel felt spotlessly clean. We stayed in the Mad Hatter room which was large, comfortable and 'fun'. The quality of the furnishngs and the detailing within the room were very special. We ate in the restaurant, why wouldn't we, and were both pleased and suprised by the innovative menu and the quality of the food, it was delicious. Although restrictions mean the bar is closed for 'drinks' we were able to enjoy pre-dinner cocktails at our table, including my Martini made by the owner of the hotel! All in all we would thoroughly recommend a stay at Glazebrrok House and infact plan on returning in the summer when we hope both the pandemic situation and the weather will have improved.
