We have visited this cafe at both lunch time and evening and always had a great time and lovely friendly service. The fish and chips on a Friday are definitely worth going for. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The menu is good but not much choice for vegetarians but whenever we have asked the owner has always been very...

We walked from High Force to Low Force and back and had tried three other local eateries that were either closed or had stopped serving food at about 3pm today. So we were finally very pleased to find a modern restaurant for us to have a choice of both Sunday lunches and lighter bites. Great staff and customers who gave...

Popped in after our walk to high force with the kids, after we sat down to look at the menu, one of our 2 children started playing with the salt and pepper. We asked him not too and had a little protest but not causing a scene or being overly loud. A man who we can only presume was the...

There are now a few cafes in middleton and sadly after today we will be trying other eateries. The food was average and the drinks average. The cafe atmosphere was average and the cleanliness was average. Nothing was "good" or "bad" - it was all just ok.

We stopped for tea and scones - scones to die for! So went back next day for dinner and this was excellent too. And everyone was so friendly - other diners as well as staff. We were delighted to find this café.

Welcoming to 2 very wet and cold MTBrs completing a 200 mile pennine circuit. Great tea and coffee, clean & warm and filled bottles without fuss or charge. Also licensed but we had too far to go! Good stop.

We were greeted by a nice friendly welcome by the owners of this cafe which is always good. We called in just for a coffee but were soon enticed by the lovely looking variety of cakes and succumbed to the chocolate cake. The coffee was lovely and the cake again was very nice, it had a hint of brandy, as...

We stayed here in November on our road trip up north. We stayed in the cottage which was quite quaint but a bit cramped with too much furniture! The bread and butter pudding was excellent although the dinner was a little disapointing, breakfast was very good using local produce. It was busy initially when we arrived, the young girl who...

Me and my wife where driving around Durham during our holiday up North, and we stumbled upon this place. We thought we would stop for a coffee but instead ended up having Sunday lunch at this place. The food was amazing, home cooked and the staff where very helpful. Definitely a little gem of a place in what appeared to...

Stayed here in June 2013. Husband was greeted on arrival by owner denying we had made a booking at all! After seeing proof of the booking we had to stay in a cottage in the grounds of the restaurant as there was no room available for us. Had to wait for old rayburn to warm up the cottage and heat...
