Ewan is a phenomenal host and has an excellent team to meet all of your needs. They ensure that the place is very clean and accommodating. The house is located in a very accessible place, thus there is a bus stop right in front of the house. Most importantly, the breakfast is of high quality and they are very generous...

Juan I think you are too kind. I think you say such nice things to be helpful to a small guesthouse owner. Your comments do help renew the human spirit. Yes we try hard and it is really pleasing to see guests enjoying themselves. I hope you enjoyed Roslin Chapel. In the chapel there is a stone carving of an...

We required an overnight stay to visit family nearby and Rathan House was conveniently situated. We were given a family room (a surprise for a couple!) which was basic but comfortable enough. Breakfast was delightful with choices of cereal, fruit, toast and main courses largely focused around fish - a delicious Finnan Haddie lived up to its promise. My gluten-free...

I have been working away from home and it has been perfect for comfort and cleanliness and a place to relax. The McRae family have been great hosts and the location spot-on for all links in and around Edinburgh.

I booked two rooms and got lost and was fairly late for check in. The proprietor was very nice about it and by the next morning both of my kids decided he might very well be the most entertaining fellow in all of Scotland. The rooms were nice but the real highlight was the breakfast and wonderful stories provided. This...

Even though the place is undergoing cosmetic improvements, for which the owner has saved for many years, I would highly recommend staying there. It is conveniently set on the bus route. The place is warm and cozy. The nearby restaurants are fabulous. And the local pubs are very friendly. We won't soon forget the hospitality we found there.

Thank you for your very kind and understanding comment . The masonry repair and repointing work on the front of the house is all complete now and it is great to see what an expert experienced stonemason can achieve. As he said -" it really looks bonny now" . We have always believed that good B&B here is simple and...
