Really we should not have worried and should have done it years ago! Although our holiday did not start off well - almost 22 hour delay at Heathrow and first night spent in Premier Inn - actually very good and we did see a few animals albeit the Essex variety! We arrived in Nairobi 1 day late and caught internal...

Stayed for five nights after safari on Masai Mara, ideal location on the best beach in Mombasa. Had a sea view room near the pool and and overlooking the Indian Ocean, could not ask for more, room very comfortable but mattress very hard. Only one real complaint, breakfast and lunch taken in restaurant close to pool on same level as...

Spent four nights at the Papillon. The property was a great value for money considering some of the other hotels we looked at. It is a laid back resort that is sprawling. While it could use a bit of updating, it does what it needs to do, provide relaxation, friendly service and good food and drink. Once you walk in...

Excellent holiday, we where really nervous of going to Kenya but had no need. Hotel excellent, clean, everything you need. Staff so pleasant and helpful, nobody could do enough for us. Animation team superb. Food varied and ample. We did an overnight safari mid week, which was amazing. We will definitely be returning next year.

If you are a family or small group looking to stay in Mombasa DO NOT STAY HERE. This hotel caters to European tour groups. Two weeks ago we had the most HORRIBLE experience of the 20 years we have been holidaying in Mombasa. We were in Baobab Hotel next door but the booking got mixed up and we had to...

The hotel goes through a refurbishment programme every year (closing down in May & June) and our full time maintenance staffs keep it up to standard. The...

It's a beautiful place to stay in for holidays! We just had nothing to complaint about. People working there are all very helpful and nice, always keen on having a chat. Starting from the front desk staff, that greeted us after a long journey, always smily and there for anything we needed. Guys working in the hotel restaurant are super...

This was a holiday for my mums 80th birthday, her first visit to Africa, we had a wonderful time, the hotel was lovely, food excellent with plenty of choice, beautiful setting, room clean and with plenty of space (the only improvement would be tea/coffee facilities in the room) but what really stood out were the staff - so friendly and...

This was my 8th visit to Kenya but 1st time at Papillon Lagoon Reef and it was the perfect choice for a solo holiday. I chose to upgrade to a beachfront room and would recommend requesting ground floor as terrace gives direct access onto the garden area outside...perfect for convenient and quieter sunbathing with superb views over the famous Diani...
