I was here end May to mid June for a fortnight and a day with my wife and three young children. We were initially apprehensive en route from the airport as the place seemed desolate however the resort was a sight to behold! The gardens are immaculate, as the pool which was cleaned twice daily and the beach was also...

Just returned from our holiday. The room was very nice, basic but clean, pools were lovely and never used the beach because of the pestering beach boys. The breakfast was ok bwith freashly made omlettes, dinner was poor with little choice and if something was finsished no replacement. The grill was very good. We used Julius Nzumbi for our safari and...

The garden, beach, layout of the rooms in the garden, the swimming pools all very OK, but the rooms are not really OK. It takes ages before they help you with complaints about the smell. We had a very smelly room (moist problems). The rooms are not very clean, especially the bathroom. Considering the price and the stars they claim,...

Ok lets start with what was good.....we spent 2 weeks at the end of May/early June at the Southern Palms for our Honeymoon. I informed the hotel before our arrival that we were staying for our honeymoon and they arranged a sign at reception welcoming us with our names on. They also left flowers and fruit in our room upon...

However I spent 2 fantastic weeks over in Diani and the hotel staff could not be more accomodating although being low season many of the head staff were not there. I was allocated 'our' same room and just to...

Booked our safari's with Katuta outside the main gate. He has his own bus, used to work for Pollman's who do all of Thomson's trips and...

7th time to Kenya, first time to Southern Palms. This hotel could be a good four star, the hotel layout, pool and beach area are excellent and the hotel rooms more than sufficient. The staff are friendly, helpfull and nothing was too much trouble. What lets this hotel down is simple basics of hygiene and cleanliness, for example, holes in...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This dramatic hotel with its fantastic pools and beautiful beach is the perfect spot to relax after a safari… or simply visit to relax! The warm and very African feel of the hotel with comfortable rooms, well appointed bathrooms and selection of restaurants offers guests plenty of places to lounge in the sun and almost as many shady spots to enjoy a bit of a breeze and a good book. All rooms have quiet, split unit air conditioners, televisions, mini fridges and coffee and tea making facilities. There is a safe (chargeable) in each room and a business center located in the main building with internet or wifi access in public areas. The drama of the huge, traditional makuti (thatched) roof in the main restaurant offers the Chef a terrific showcase for a varied selection of local and international dishes on the buffet or you could indulge at one of the a la carte restaurants (chargeable) for a special occasion or just a quiet evening for two. ... more   less
