Covid19 has hit many businesses especially in Victoria. BUT. As a treat based on the photos decided to book the ‘Spa’ one bedroom cottage as an indulgence for 2 nights. The area is lovely, peaceful and quiet but that’s about all.Regretted this choice within an hour. Carport is about 10metres above cottage whereby one walks down the slightly slippery path. Most importantly it’s unlit so take a torch with you if you intend arriving in the dark. Or going out at night. The Cottage itself is quite small. Kitchen bench top is now cluttered with jars of biscuits (stale) cereals, jar of instant coffee, jar of mixed up mainly herbal, tangled strings of teabags, and lumpy sugar. And don’t mistake the bird seed with muesli it’s on the bench as well. One cupboard is now locked. So bin is under sink right next to the pots and pans and rest of bird seed. Decided quickly we had no intention to cook anything here. We had one small drinking glass, two miss matched plastic cups as well as plastic wine glasses. Didn’t feel very adult or romantic . Dining table hard up against large wall heater and close to fridge on the other side. Chairs are saggy. Sofa bed saggy as well. A few sticks of kindling then huge damp logs making lighting a fire difficult.Bed was comfortable. But too much furniture ,no room to put suitcases and no hangers in the wardrobe. Bathroom had pump packs of toiletries and sink cluttered with daggy plastic flowers. Because there is no window in bathroom it is gloomy the fan needs to be constantly . Not inviting the inclination to use the spa bath at all. Just kick ones leg high enough over to use the shower instead. At least the water was steamy hot. I am sorry to have to write such a poor review. I understand this area is expensive to stay but at $200+ per night for a couple to stay here was not good value

Such a beautiful location. Really lovely well maintained gardens and residences. My dad and I stayed in the Windmill Lodge, it was modern but with character, clean and well kept with all amenities. The owner was lovely and completely accommodating. And a really great price for such a lovely location and facilities.

We had a very relaxing stay the day prior to our wedding in Mount Dandenong, and we enjoyed the spa and fireplace. There was plenty of space for the entire family and the rooms were clean and well equipped. Ample breakfast provisions (including bacon, eggs, milk and bread) were provided. It is a beautiful retreat surrounded by trees and ferns.

We spent the weekend here and found the accommodation very much to our liking. close to the tourist areas and restaurants. Owner went out of her way to assist us and let us do some laundry. The spa was great at night with a few wines. The setting with the tress and ferns is a refreshing break from the city The Cats and the birds are part of this .

House was nice and secluded but the owner is next door and randomly shows up to use the laundry without notice. After we asked for privacy the same instance happened the next day. We had a big family with kids and only had access to the laundry for a very short time, after requesting. No sharp knives to cook with, some other regular utensils not available. BBQ is a really just a really small hot plate. Cats and dogs show up from time to time which is okay if you like pets in your house/space. The mowing guy also showed up and started blowing leaves and dust all over our cars, and asked to mow because this can only be done on Fridays’ which was very strange, annoying and loud.

Enjoyed our time at Fernglen with adult family of 9. We booked the lodge which had two well equipped kitchens. There was plenty of space to relax and each couple had their own bedrooms and comfortable beds, very clean accomodation. Enjoyed the fireplace and spa. And the Relaxed country feel amongst nature. Host was easy to deal with - thanks for having us all!

Fernglen is an amazing place to experience the beautiful forest and peace of the bush. The house is well appointed with lovely fire places with back up heaters. We were here and it snowed. The house warm and cosy. Beds were amazing...warm and had the best 2 nights sleep. The spa was such a treat and a great place to chat even if it was only 1 or 2 degrees outside. Alix was an amazing host. Meeting us at the gate and helping us down the lovely drive way. Impossible to do if you do not know what to expect in the dark. She filled the fridge with eggs, bacon, tomato, mushroom, bread, orange juice and fresh fruit, milk, bread and raisin loaf. Bring your own coffee and tea. A truely unique experience. The majestic forest is stunning. It was lovely to slow down and relax. We enjoyed our stay here and hope to return. Thank you Alix for having us.

We decided to runaway into the mountains and elope. We found this amazing retreat and spent the weekend relaxing while our children spent time exploring this hidden gem. Not only did we marry but we got to spend our time completing unwinding and falling into pure bliss. Alix was very welcoming and was excellent to communicate with. Overall 10/10 to the Fernglen Retreat. It was absolutely amazing. We will definitely be back. Thanks again Alix 🙂

Our group of 9 adults and 2 kids really enjoyed our two-night stay in the Grand Lodge. Clean, nicely furnished, well equipped kitchen, even toys for the kids. Bedrooms were all comfortable except for the one with the bunk bed (sagging mattress). Lovely to see birds feeding on the veranda. We made good use of the outdoor spa and BBQ. Very tranquil and beautiful surroundings and a short drive to many places to explore like Sassafras and Sherbrooke Forest. Our host, Alix, was friendly and welcoming. Late check out was a nice bonus.
