"Going Barefoot" is about the feeling of freedom and living in harmony with our environment. We don't refer to our island as a "resort". Our eco-lodges are about living simply and sustainably. Rather than a tourist destination run by technology, Barefoot is a concept fuelled by feeling. Our island is deliberately uncomplicated, unfussy and unpretentious. For both guests and staff, the sensational natural environment - land, sea and air - brings about a special frame of mind - carefree, receptive and aware. Barefoot Island, known traditionally as Drawaqa Island, lies in the Southern Yasawa Islands of Fiji. The breath-taking coral gardens, situated just off the coastline are amongst the finest in the world. We offer visitors a tranquil environment, with the gentle sound of the waves lapping the shore. Our eco-lodge is the perfect destination for nature lovers in search of a one of the few Fijian islands unspoiled by man. Guests can expect unparalleled manta ray safaris in one of the best locations for dive enthusiasts: spectacular snorkelling and excursions, beautiful coastal and forest trails, visits to nearby Fijian villages, kayaking...the list is endless. Step onto our island and lose yourself in the world of Blue Lagoon and Castaway. Allow yourself to settle into "Fiji Time," and you'll come to discover a virtual treasure trove of things to explore - both on land and in the surrounding waters.

From the moment we were greeted by our hosts singing on the beach our family of four (kids 14 and 12) fell in love with Barefoot Manta. We stayed in a family tent cabin - spacious bed for the adults and bunks for the kids which was kept just cool enough by the ceiling fans and

I highly recommend this resort. As 3 adults, we booked a family safari tent on the beach and were delighted with our trip. Definitely splurge and take the seaplane! The staff - from the restaurant to marine biologists - were friendly and professional. The only reason I didn't

My husband and I had a wonderful time at barefoot manta. The snorkeling was gorgeous and amazing, the bures were a little musty (reminded me of summer camp) and hot if we didn’t have the fans going and allow for the ocean breeze to come in, the food was good but bring your own

Bula alfrancoeur With thanks for your kind words and feedback. Good news is we will be adding on to the free chilled water we already offer in the main complex with additional water stations around the resort. Activities are planned however understand this was not to your expectation and will discuss this with the resort team. We are hopeful of bringing some more good news this year regarding upgrades of our resort. Watch out for our news this year. We do hope that we will get the chance to welcome you back in the future. The island itself is a great experience and the resort staff were friendly and caring. Everything was great until the last day...We had a ferry booked already to take us to Matamanoa Island and the receptionist approached us and informed me that there is a local boat that can

Bula mozmeny Thank you for your review. From what I can ascertain in getting "the other side of the story" from our "friendly and caring staff" is that you requested to have other transfer options given to you other than travelling back to the mainland with our preferred suppliers when you realised that the transfer option of the catamaran would not have you able to reach the mainland in time to take the last transfer of the day to your next resort at Matamanoa Island. The Sea Plane option also offered was cost prohibitive for you. We understand this private transfer was requested by you to our staff as time was of the essence for you to reach your next destination which is not accessible in one day due to the distance you needed to travel. The quote you were given and accepted we believe from the Boat Captain you did not honor and pay however this is between you and the boat captain. The private village boat that was organised at your request is a licensed vessel and indeed had all safety equipment aboard such as life jackets, flares etc. This mode of transfer is purely at your own undertaking with an enormous amount of pressure put on our staff member to find you "something otherwise advising you would leave early and cancel your last night". PLEASE in future it will pay for you to check your transfer options prior to your travel between resorts and island groups to ensure you are aware of the time you will need to travel to your next destination. Fiji is made up of 333 islands and all are not necessarily within close proximity. I cannot agree with you that Barefoot Manta is "now, solely responsible" for your actions when it has become apparent you were not taking no for an answer and I apologize for replying so directly on this forum. We trust you enjoyed your stay in Fiji. Lauren

Stayed for 3 nites in a Family Bure on Sunset Beach. Plenty of space and a lovely outside bathroom. The view from our deck was beautiful and only a few steps away from the water which meant we slept to the sound of the waves lapping the beach. Swam at all 3 beaches depending on

Can we settle our bill in cash rather than credit card?
Bula Hannah D Thanks for your question and the answer is yes. We take local and some international currency. As Kiwisailo has advised you can split payments with cash and credit/debit card if you wish but please be advised for any international credit and/or debit cards these do incur a credit card administration fee of 3.5%

Hi Not sure where you fly from the US believe most people fly LA to Nadi. The resort fee is actually the meal plan Currently the charge is $105fjd this covers three meals use of snorkelling equipment kayak and free wifi plus other free activities. The only other additional cost is your accommodation and any paid activities you wish to participate in

I am really not sure to be honest, but the sides all open up with netting to stop insects and it has a good overhead fan. If I had to guess I would say it would be fine as you can get a draft all ways. The outside shower would be just fine.

Will they provide a picnic dinner or lunch if we request it?
I’m sure these guys will. They are all very helpful. We had a birthday and they laid out a special table and made a real effort
