We dined in the main restaurant, the bar and the casual dining area and found them all to be very good. Wide selection of dishes in the menu all presented beautifully. The stag were exceptional - especially Dan, who went out of his way to make us welcome. We digs stay in the rooms but they have 18 available and...

This place could be a goldmine but so lacking in so many areas. Superior Double Room 7 definitely not superior. Needs paint new curtains and accessories. Tiny TV. Big bed was comfy. Bathroom old fashioned and basic. Sugar all over the dressing table clearly not cleaned properly. Bar needs attentive staff. Staff far too young no idea what they are...

We visited this hotel last weekend and were really pleased with our stay. We did get this through a deal for two nights bed and breakfast but I will have been pleased at full price. We ate in the restaurant both nights and found the food to be lovely and good portion sizes, as was the breakfast. The hotel itself...

This hotel has huge potential, with its historic main building and out building's in an enviable village location. Advice to management: 1.Please invest in your team, send them on hospitality based customer care training it will payoff in the end. 2. Employ dedicated experienced cleaners who know how to clean your public area/ toilets adjacent to bar/restaurant not the young...

If it was a review of just the staff they would receive 5 stars. Young team but very willing and friendly. Food in the restaurant fordinner was plentiful and tasty and not over priced. The breakfast was disappointing. Run out of fruit by 9 both days had to ask for the juice and yogurt to be filled up. Two young...

Surpassed our expectations to be honest. We were staying on a £99 voucher for 2 days bed and breakfast which ends today, 7 May, I believe. When we arrived we were shown to the annexe for our room, no 17, and when we opened the door pleasantly surprised to see a large room, high ceiling, very bright with a large...

We have passed the Charles Cotton on a number of occasions so when the need to find accommodation was presented to us at relatively short notice it was here we tried. On offer a standard room at £80.00 room only; well its likely to be modest and its only one night so as long as it’s clean it will be...

Management response:

Hi Tim, it is very unfortunate you didn't had a good experience. After writing such a big essay about the place you don't realise how hard it is to run a hospitality industry. It was bank holiday weekend with weddings and functions and we have been very very busy and any you might not have whisky what you wanted but...

We stayed for three nights on a special bed and breakfast deal and for the price we paid we feel we got good value for our money. The hotel is in a great location for walking cycling. The staff were very friendly and helpful. As previous reviewers have pointed out some parts of the hotel look a little tired but...

We stayed her for two nights for a walking break. We had a comfortable room in the annexe with a large en suite. The food on our first night in The Bistro was excellent with the exception of overdone chips. Breakfast very good but very slow service. We met up with our group of walking friends (24 - see other...
