Hotel was charming staff very friendly and helpful ideal location to set of on walks room was nice and clean we had our evening meals in hotel which were fresh sourced food hot and tasty good choice of breakfast especially in current climate. We both can’t wait to go back.
Stopped on the way to Bakewell. What a beautiful village. We called in just for a quick drink as the hotel looks really nice. We managed to get a table and ordered an ale and a coke. Sat for around an hour in the bar. A little disappointed to see the bar is made from what looks like old pallets, which isn't really in keeping with the rest of the place. Good service, friendly barman.
We travelled to the peak district to take a couple of walks and stayed at The Charles Cotton Hotel. The room was cosy and comfortable and staff were very helpful, happy and accommodating. The food was good in the hotel. It was located just right for the 2 nights we stayed there.
The menu at this hotel is uninspiring. As I was there on a Wednesday, their steak night, I decided to choose this option. The steak I was served was inedible as I couldn’t cut through any part even with steak knife. Mentioned this to the waiter who was completely disinterested. Served with oven chips and small salad. This was poor value for money at £30 for two with small carafe of wine. I would like to comment on the desserts but no one offered us dessert and no waiting staff around to order one. I would never recommend dining here as there is a very good pub opposite.
Booked for Sunday Lunch on recommendation and we were not disappointed. Very Covid safe. The Sunday lunch menu is simple yet everything that you would want from a Sunday Lunch, and more (See the photo). Excellent roast beef, perfectly cooked and a vast array of quality vegetables, alongside the most massive homemade Yorkshire Pudding. We were offered, and accepted extra gravy, as it was so delicious. A perfect Sunday Lunch and all for less than £10 Good service, efficient and pleasant in a very Covid safe setting. Drinks, particularly real ales, were good. Already booked for a return visit.
