Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

$300 for a night in a small room is bad, but not nearly as bad as the meals which are saltier than the dead sea. Avoid Newman at all costs, we have had to stay in this town 3 times on route between Perth and Broome,.and would rather sleep on the roadside after 3 terribly expensive nightmare stayes in this town.

We came here for dinner while staying in town As long as you understand this camp is a mining camp - so the restaurant area is set accordingly then you won’t expect the world!! Personally I think it’s nice, yes a little sterile like a camp kitchen BUT it was clean and fresh too The staff are lovely (but don’t expect a warm welcome). Once seated the staff were great but when we walked in we were completely ignored and just seated ourselves - again just another camp style service Most importantly is the food! We definitely were NOT let down here. All the meals and starters were lovely and the lamb rack is amazing! If you can fit dessert the crème brûlée is beautiful We would come back again for sure as the meals were great

Room Tip: This restaurant is designed to cater for the mining camp - it’s clean and great so don’t let that...

Hey Mia Mia cafe crew! Really want to keep supporting a local coffee spot but need to give some feedback…. Staff are always friendly and prompt in their service! But coffees seem to be pumped out with very little care… flat white today was bad- tepid unfrothed milk and bitter coffee shot… breakfast wrap was full of rancid stewed spinach and dry egg and bacon. Based on this experience I would not revisit … If we are paying Pilbara prices then please put some care into the food and drink offerings!

Good bits - comfortable bed. Nice, helpful staff. Delicious dinner. Bad bits - it’s a mining camp not a hotel, so people coming and going ALL night. Can’t open windows or doors otherwise your exposed to everyone that is constantly waking by. Tiny, expensive room. It’s a donga that has had some fancy bits added in. Might be ok for one person. No ventilation in the tiny room - you have to run the air con in the stuffy environment. Staff were lovely, and our evening meal was great - but sitting amongst loud, miners made it feel like a crib room not a dining room. We paid $315 to stay in a donga with shift workers coming and going.

Room Tip: If your travelling solo the tiny rooms might be ok. But super expensive - even for the Pilbarra.

Our room was a bit of a shock. Very small disabled room. In that you could walk into the shower. The bed was against one wall so inconvenient for a couple. No toiletries as promised. No glasses. Cobwebs in the corners of the room. It appeared the room hadnt been used for a while. The chain lock was broken. A lot of miners stay at the hotel. They did allow us to have the miners' meal. At $300 per night we would never stay there again

Stayed here with wife, mother-in-law and 2 kids. Modern, clean, well lit rooms. Rooms have enough space for 2 people but they have interconnecting rooms which work nicely for 4. Comfortable beds, good air conditioning, fridge, kettle, TV with Netflix and a powerful shower. Plenty of charging locations. Rooms are on the small side, but perfect for a stopover. Great staff - very helpful and hard working- nothing was too much trouble. We had the buffet dinner which had something for everyone including an ice cream station which the kids loved. Lovely outdoor beer garden / family area with Sonos sound system, cooling misting system and giant Jenga. Will stay again when in Newman (which is a great stopover for trips to Karijini or Broome from Perth). Ample parking in the compound with some power points for your fridge / battery charger.

Liked · Service was exceptional - couldn't fault it. Room was clean and well appointed but absolutely tiny. Disliked · Room is tiny. There is only one bedside table, presumably because if you put one on the other side, there would be nowhere to fit your bag. The bed took up most of the room, with a narrow passage to move around it barely big enough for the two of us. The shower was horrendous. There isn't a proper shower screen, just a small portion of fixed screen on one side and the shower head set high on the wall. While the head itself is the detachable kind, it was not adjustable on the mount at all. So, for a 6 foot tall man, the shower is probably find, however, for a 5 foot woman, the end result is a stream of water directly in your eyes or to shower holding the head in your hand (tricky to do if you need to wash your hair). Food was lack lustre to say the least - don't expect to find anything low in fat other than the garden salad.

Very nicely appointed and clean accommodation. Rooms are smarted up dongas so very small but they have spent some considerable money on them so very acceptable for a stopover The reception staff were amazing and nothing was too much trouble. Very friendly We were pleasantly surprised to find on arrival that our Tarif included dinner, breakfast and crib (takeaway lunch) Unfortunately the dinner was very poor Buffet which the hot food was cold and had been sitting there for a long time. Very little was edible which was a shame Breakfast the next day was better as steps had been taken to ensure the food was kept hot and fresher We declined the offer of the takeaway lunch A very good place to stay for a stopover and we certainly would do so again but I would definitely eat dinner elsewhere

Stayed overnight on our way North. Location is fine, the room was very clean with good facilities BUT VERY SMALL. Think "Donga". Set up more for workers than travellers. It was cramped for two people. Good restaurant on site, although not fine dining, with a nice variety of meals including take away crib if you want it. Nice outdoor area to relax. Would recommend if within your budget.

Beautiful hotel, staff are lovely but the highlight was definitely the food. Food amazing and just enough variety everyday and take away crib available. Rooms are neat and tidy very clean with great amenities.
