First impressions of the hotel are one of opulent luxury... considerng we are in Semey! The staff are very friendly and helpful, and seem to have a greater grasp on spoken English than most I have come across in Kazakhstan.

Breakfast is included in the room tariff (paid approx. $120 AU) and is a buffet style - eggs, sausages, pastries, cream cheese type affair. Evening meals are good and quite filling for the average soul. Free Wi-Fi is available, but it is very slow to almost non-existent (ie. Don't expect to have any luck getting those personal and business emails through).

The rooms look great and are very spacious. Great bathroom facilities, good heating ... but the beds are as hard as planks. Literally like sleeping on a park bench.

Conference room facilities are available but really only for small groups of say less than 20-30 people.

Hotel Nomad is the 'luxury' option if you stop off in the small north eastern industrial city of Semey. Built like a section of a Parisian street it is a admirable attempt at a 4 star hotel but is more like a good 3 star. Decoration is modern and to western standards, cleanliness is excellent. Service is still a little amateur as elsewhere in Kazakhstan. Free Wi-fi in the lobby and in some of the rooms depending on how strong the signal is. Hit and miss breakfast but good evening meal.

I'll keep it short: Every room is a smoking room; our beds have box springs with pads instead of mattresses; and they didn't tell us about the 50% surcharge for a second person in a double room until we checked in. Unfortunately, we checked in too late to make other arrangements for the night, and they made us pay up front for the first night. We'll be checking out in the morning.

Stayed a night at the Hotel Nomad in Semey earlier this month and we were glad it was only one night. Staff was great but that’s about where it ended, smoking is allowed everywhere, street noise was excessive and the noise from the bar downstairs kept us up late. Rooms are about as clean as they will get I suppose but not up to regular hotel standards. Breakfast was okay but I wouldn’t stay here again, it may be quieter and cleaner sleeping in the street.

I stayed 5 days in this hotel. It was my first time in Semey but I was told that it is the best hotel in town. Its centrally located, rooms are spacious. i got room with two beds. breakfast was OK with tasty pastries. room has no tea or coffee complimentary but when asked they gave me an electrical kettle.
Negative sides: every morning despite all my protests cleanong ladies entered my room without any warnings. They clean room but bad part is that they try to sort out your personsl belongings which was umpleasant! another negative thing was that brd was unbearably hard! i had to put two coverd under the sheets snd it was still very hard!

Never before, in any country nor any other town in Kazakhstan, have we encountered a hotel where the price quoted for the double room (18,000) is in fact for one person to use a double bed. If there are two of you, there is an extra charge of 6,000, making the room very over-priced, at 24,000... for the privilege of one extra towel and 2 breakfasts. A normal single is 12,000 so taking a double for 2 people is the same as 2 singles.
We told the manageress that this was unreasonable and incorrect, but she was adamant. And we were too tired to argue any more. So we accepted the unreasonable terms and even then had to beg for the second towel to be delivered.
Also bed is hard as a gravestone.
Otherwise, reception staff speak english and tried their best. Wifi works fine.

I am happy to stay at Hotel Nomad (third visit). Staff are very polite and efficient. When traveling, I want a clean room, good bed and HOT shower. My room had all three. Fifth floor, park side, no problem with street noise. Breakfast is good, even to order fried eggs. I would have prefered fresh coffee instead of instant.

In general the hotel is OK, with rather fast WiFi. The lift in the 2nd building seems to be completely failing.

The biggest negative feature is the breakfast that simply is bad. Particularly the sausage in plastic wrapping is pathetic

There was a problem during check in because of the reservation specialist did not specify the early check-in procedure in the hotel during booking when she got our arrival time to an airport, helped to book a taxi transfer and when we arrived to a hotel at 10:00, a sudden extra fee had arisen at a amount of 12,000 KZT ($50) which was not included in a quoted rate beforehand.

Stupid hotel, on a slow saturday day, enforcing stupid standard policies where a receptionist cannot (does not want) to fix small issues.

Book elsewhere.
