The hotel itself was lovely (apart from the mosquito trapped inside my mosquito net) BUT nobody told me about the wind, which arrived around 10.30 each morning and on two nights continued all night, rattling the shutters so much I was afraid they would drop off. However that was not the hotel's fault, and the breakfast and evening meal were... More

I'm sitting here regretting my happy comment in the guest book - but I couldn't face yet another awkward moment, so did the British thing and wrote something nice. And now that I have left, when I look back, I just feel ripped off. If you're running a place in a developing country where guests can clock up a bill... More

We went here with two families with kids in October 2014, and from arrival till departure (transfer from and to Tulear included) it was wonderful! The rooms are gorgeous with big glass fronts towards the beach, the staff are the most friendly we have seen anywhere, the restaurant always open (a big plus if you travel with kids) and the... What a surprise this place was. Amazing staff, gorgeous room, fabulous food, spectacular views, beautiful beach and peace and quiet, On arrival after the one hour high speed boat ride, the stuff meet you and take your bags up the beach. Remember to wear pants that can roll up and shoes you won't mind getting wet. All rooms are separate... More

really nice place to stay, extremly quiet, several hours a day of electricity, wifi access at lounge, food is excellent. for people that like surfing there is waves right in front and for cave divers this is the place to ask for a caver tour in an underwater museum

It was a novel arrival, wading through a short stretch of water from the speedboat on to the beach. Rooms were large with huge windows on two sides, affording fantastic views of the beach and the sea. Staff were very helpful but with very limited English. Food was good but consistently fish - the menu each day could only be... More

Wonderfully situated, with beautiful, spacy bungalows, friendly and service minded staff, and absolutely fantastic food! ( They buy it twice daily from the local fishermen ). it is possible to make excursions to islands close by; Don't miss the tamarind tree! And they throw in the spectacular sunsets for free ;-) !

Came for a two night breather between surf camp type accommodation, stayed for 10. Totally excellent. Best food in Madagascar. Wait staff are characters, some more service oriented than others, all local staff and beautifully trained. Huge plaudits to our Italian (?) host for creating this paradise in the middle of nowhere. Yes its cheaper down the beach and round... More

We moved across to Anakao Ocean Lodge from a more primitive lodge. This was so that we could get at least partial A/C in our rooms. The Room charge can be negotiated depending on booking status of course. We paid 110 € / bungalow and night. whereas the rate is round 180€. The real cost is the meals. It very... More

Stayed here on Oct 25th and 26th, departed on 27th. Arranged for us by Tour company. This hotel is reached by their speedboat from Toliara. The boat ride itself is approx 1 hour. The hotel is located on beach side and offers great views from the beach, or restaurant deck. The rooms are located in individual units scattered around the... More

“Try to get a bungalow on the "front row", directly on the beach. Also, some of the bungalows are two story with beds on both floors. This is great for families, but if you are traveling as a couple, you might rather have a one story bungalow with floor plans that include a sitting area, which is nice for windy afternoons.”
