A group of us rented three rooms there and stayed for one night. The rooms were quaint and cozy and the bathrooms were nice and modern. As others have mentioned the location is remote but most things are on the island. Our rental car fell through (long story) so we had to rely on cabs which can be hard to find. Sadly, we had a very early morning tour and could not stay for breakfast. The nice lady so wanted to feed us and was upset that she didn't have everything ready for us by the time we had to grab and go. I spoke enough Portuguese to explain to her that it was really not a big deal but she was inconsolable. She really wanted to feed us! I would definitely recommend staying here. Do rent a car!

Very nice place in a quiet location, as the street ends at the hotel. Very nice view to the coast and the village of Sao Roque.
We had a very nice and big room, upstairs, with a little french balcony and sea view (and to the island of Sao Jorge). You need to have a car to stay there, because there is only a small snack bar within walking distance. We walked down to the city, it took about 45 minutes.
The owner Norberto is very helpful and the staff is very nice, especially if you try to speak a few words portuguese!
Very good breakfast with local products.

This is a charming B&B. It is in a remote spot, in a very small village with only a small snack bar in walking distance, but other small towns and restaurants nearby. Rooms are well decorated, very clean and comfortable. Quality of the breakfast was very good and the owners were always very helpful in trying to accommodate any special requests. Lovely lounge. There is also a small seating area outside. Lovely views across the sea to Sao Jorge island. It is in a remote spot so not for everyone but quaint, clean friendly and good value

We stayed for one night at Casa do Comendador and we were very lucky to have a room with a view of the water. It was street level, which made it very easy for us to come and go from our car which was easily parked right across the road. There are a lot of cats that live in the area, so be prepared for some meowing in the middle of the night, or visitors at your door when you wake up. The main woman who takes care of the place speaks very little English, so most of our interaction was done through Summer or the other gentleman whose name I can't remember. Breakfast in the morning was a medley of cheeses, fruits, meats and bread; the hostess was very happy to feed us and probably wouldn't have let us leave until we were full. The room was always clean and nicely decorated; it was very romantic actually with the long curtains and light seeping through the windows in the morning. I'd absolutely stay here again. It's a bit off the beaten path, so you'll definitely need a car to stay here. It's about a 15-20 minute ride into the port town of Madalena.

The photo doesn’t do this lovely B&B justice. It’s a gracious house with tall ceilings, immaculate bedrooms, modern bathrooms and gracious staff. Other reviews mention the remote location but I would tell you everything’s remote on Pico. You MUST have a car. So reserve one NOW, because they are at a premium and there’s really no other way to explore the island.

We stayed in Casa do Comendador for several nights. The location is great if you travel by car (but telling the truth, there is nothing to do on Pico without a car, as there is no regular public transport). We had a room on the ground floor with windows facing quite street and the ocean. The room was clean and comfortable, the breakfast consisted of different dishes and even included boiled egg (not typical for other hotels we stayed in Portugal). The only problem we faced - communication, as staff does not speak English. However, we managed to fix it using google translator etc. As for the price - suppose, it could be cheaper.

I stayed 4 nights at this B&B, and really liked it a lot. The staff is very helpful and friendly, and the place is just great, both the house itself as the decoration. Nice breakfast as well. Quite remote though, so a car is needed. I experienced some barking dogs early in the morning. Overall a great stay.

We only spent one night at Casa do Comendador. Our ground floor room had French windows opening straight into the street which overlooked the sea and the island of Sao Jorge. Elegantly furnished, the spotless room felt comfortable and stylish. The breakfast buffet was nicely laid out in an elegant dining room and there was plenty of delicious bread, cereals, fruit, home made jams, cheeses and hams. The house is located in a quiet spot of Sao Roque and felt nicely secluded.

Spent three nights at this B and B.We had a ground floor room overlooking the sea. It was attractively furnished in contemporary style with plenty of hanging and drawer space. The bathroom was modern but rather dark. All the linen was monogrammed which looked very "classy" but the towels were rather thin and not very absorbent.Certainly couldn't be described as fluffy!
The breakfast was very good although the only cooked food was hard boiled eggs. The staff were very friendly and helpful and there is free WiFi in the rather grand sitting room.To get into the building via the main door there is quite a steep flight of steps and even more steps to reach the rooms on the higher floors.
I would say that the main drawback is the relative isolation which means that the only place to eat within walking distance is a snack bar. We were told that they did meals but when we went there, they could only provide a sort of burger and chips because it was the chef's day off! People who went later than we did fared better, because someone decided to ask the chef to come in as there was clearly a demand for meals!

Very well run refurnished old house in a small village, providing an excellent quiet spot for a superb stop in your everyday rush. It is a pleasant house to stay and discover everything that central azorean triangle islands (Faial, S. Jorge, Pico) has to offer. If you don't have your own car, the owners are always very helpful to come and fetch you at the Airport, which is at a direct flight distance (two hours) from Lisbon. Excellent value, with superb views across the sea to São Jorge island. Quality of breakfast is excellent and may include any special request. If you prefer to stay in a separate house, with the same breakfast and house facilities as in the main building, you may rent a two-room house with the same view at a walking distance from the main building, with the same cleanliness. This was our first choice in Pico island.
