The hotel is relatively new and well located, with modern materials and equipment, we were surprised that 2 of the elevators were permanently out of service from the 2nd day of stay.
The cleanliness of the room was good except for the windows - The room had a spectacular view over the harbour, but the windows from the window and the balcony were almost opaque from dirt - Generally speaking, all the hotel windows needed urgent cleaning.
Bath glass also almost opaque, but this by accumulation of limestone, silicone with high accumulation of bacteria.
The walls in the common areas need cleaning as well.
Curtains generally poorly installed, with missing hooks or ripped showing carelessness.
The room air conditioner was always in the "cold" position throughout the entire stay, despite our request to change to "hot" at the reception, which informed us that the maintenance manager would change this setting the next morning - this did not happen.
Damaged TV on our arrival, immediately replaced by maintenance.
Relatively poor breakfast for a 4-star hotel, with the cakes to be taken from day to day, the sliced bread was not fresh, the breakfast beans were black (!) the bacon and the sausages in the "recheaud" were incorrectly confectioned to the point of being inappropriate for consumption.
On a positive note, the pancakes were delicious and made by us at the time on equipment available for the purpose.
The room had a coffee machine - a positive point - a pity that the coffee was not replacement (on request only and charged).
Wiped in good quality and always clean.
Many pillows available, mattress a little rich.
Amenities available in good quantity and always readily reposted.
Great lighting in the room in particular and in the hotel in general.
Collaborators generally unsocial or shy, denoting little pleasure with the public, with the exception of a seemingly more experienced collaborator in the breakfast room.
The breakfast was good and they seemed to spread foods out which meant we could get to dishes easily without crowding and queues. Thank you.
Restaurants were difficult to find because the good ones were already booked up so I’d recommend booking your meals at least a day in advance. We ate in the square nearby which , although reasonable, was a cafe rather than a restaurant.
The outside pool looked nice and the laundry service was quick. There are admittedly limited hotel options on the island but this hotel isn't bad.
Child with eye irritation due to excessive chlorine in the pool, even I, who is used to it, felt that it was not normal.
My friends had problems at the laundry, they had to speak to the management about the laundry employee who insisted on saying that she hadn't made a mistake with the laundry, it was very unpleasant.
My refrigerator in the room didn't work and I asked for it to be replaced or repaired but no one came, so I let it go.
The bar and reception staff are friendly but not enough to make us want to come back, we're sorry.
Then we went to the same chain hotel in São Jorge and the difference is between water and wine, the stars should be reversed for both.
The strong point is that the location is perfect, right in front of the boat station and scooter rentals, etc.

The housekeeping works very well, the first time in the Azores that the rooms were ready by midday. Again, no outlet in the bathroom (is this the case everywhere?), but a well-functioning, permanently installed hairdryer.
Small deficiency is the situation at breakfast. The breakfast room is much too small for the amount of guests. It was overcrowded every day during my visit (pre-season), so guests had to look for seats in the vestibule. However, no additional tables were set up there.
The breakfast itself captivates with a lot of cakes and cakes, in the fridge there are yogurts. Guests can stock up on coffee at several stations. Fresh fruit is served and there was also fruit salad on several days, but sometimes with canned fruit.
The hotel also has a nicely landscaped pool with sun loungers. There are towel cards with which you can borrow a corresponding sun towel.
People were nice enough, no complaints here. In my room the air conditioning was not working. I alerted reception and was informed that they were aware of 3 rooms
without A/C, but " tomorrow" it will be fixed.
It was never fixed and there were no other rooms available. It was a Hot Stay, to say the least. The answer to my asking daily was: "you know, we are on an island"...
Theroom was ok and clean. If you are somewhat demanding as far as matresses go, get another hotel.
There is an excelent breakfast and plenty of parking.
Next time I come, I will book months in advance and stay at the island of Graciosa at the pousada on the city of Horta.

The rooms are modern and really fine, everything works fine and everything is clean and well cleaned. Also the beds are excellent.
That's all you should expect. It does not get cozy in the hotel, the dining room and the pool. All staff and public areas exude maximum hospital charm, which is enhanced by terribly bright lighting everywhere and by train and low temperatures in the dining room. The very limited opening hours of the pool area and the garden are probably based on the needs of the staff and not those of the guests.
There is no restaurant at the hotel but the receptionist gave recommendations for Picoceana and the 5 Cafe, both of which were middling to good.
