First impressions as you arrive is poor: externally tatty, wonderful how well it photographs! The main door is so swollen and out of true its a great effort to open it and then it scrapes across the entrance porch floor. Reception, there is not one you just wander around until a staff member finds you. It's probably a Victorian building... More

Booked a room for August 13th as my partner and I were working nearby. The room was paid for in advance and checking in was straight forward, though was told 'the room's that way'.... The room was clean. To use the supplied kettle I had to get on all fours and duck under the TV stand to find the power... More

We were staying at the holiday park a short walk away. Welcoming and friendly from the start. Food was excellent especially the lemon possett as recommended by Bruno, who is fantastic. We went back a second time on our last night and he remembered what we had previously. We would definitely eat there again.

My Wife just looked at the Trip Advisor rating score of 4/5 without reading the reviews, having had difficulty with our P,C. she telephoned the Hotel and there were only two upgraded rooms available which is what we required for our OZ visitors who had been involved with the Edinburgh Festival. We thought a few days in a nice Hotels... More

Really really sad to have had such a terrible experience. This was to be a treat. We were on the Cateran trail, and stayed in 4 hotels in total. This was the most expensive at £120. And very disappointing. First room given (room 4) was really tired, dark, overlooked the bins, and the bathroom, not good enough. The wooden bath... More

I couldn't believe how bad a hotel this is ; The customer service is non-existent We turned up at 12 for a wedding and were suggested we change in the smelly Disabled toilets ; After much anger a room was eventually found ; The door keys barely worked and we were given a code for the door at night and... We had another great meal at the hotel this weekend: the food was excellent. Bruno and the waitress on duty ( sorry, can't remember your name) were friendly and , as usual, provided great service. We will definitely be back.
