Perfectly comfortable and has what you would expect in a b&b in a reasonably remote location. The decor and bathrooms are basic but fine. I gulped though when I saw how much laundry would cost - but its an optional service so I did my laundry elsewhere in the Hadrians wall walk. I am sure I would have rated this...

Thank you for your review. Our decor and bathrooms are designed to suit a wide range of guests, they are certainly not basic. We offer a number of additional services to our guests, one of these is our laundry service. These services are optional and are really appreciated by our guests that use them. Hope you enjoyed the remainder of...

Great B&B in the heart of Hadrian Wall country. Great breakfast, local foods, and nice views of the local hills. The host and hostess and warm and welcoming and create a great atmosphere for a happy stay.

This B&B isn't the fanciest, but my smallish room had a great bathtub and an honor bar in the comfortable lounge, all of which were very welcome to this tired walker. Breakfast was great as well. I guess there were a few things that gave me pause, such as expensive essentials for walkers (did I see a 15 pound charge...

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. I am glad you enjoyed the luxury of having a bath tub in your room to soak after your day walking. We do offer an optional laundry service however the cost which you have quoted is incorrect, many of our guests do welcome this additional service. We do...

This was a very professionally run guest house (closer, perhaps, to privately run small hotel than a an old-fashioned quirky B&B) and we enjoyed our stay. We had a clean decent-sized properly equipped bedroom with a lovely spacious hotel standard bathroom (with a lovely tub and bags of piping hot water powering out of the taps). Breakfast was well-cooked. There...

Thank you for your review. We have recently invested in providing fibre broadband to our premises; but given the location of Vallum Lodge and the nature of the building (ie thick walls) it is impossible to provide wifi to all areas. We are glad you enjoyed your stay with us and we hope you had a memorable holiday in Northumberland.

The owners were very pleasant and accommodating. We could tell that they cared about their business, and did what they could to help their customers, but both looked tired. One owner said that it had been a very busy summer. Front garden was overgrown and in need of attention. Rooms were small, hardly had room to open our luggage and...

Thank you for sharing your review of your stay, although I am not too sure you stayed with us here at Vallum Lodge or maybe you may be getting mixed up with another accommodation? Our front garden has never been in an overgrown state and in need of attention as described, this can paint a very gloomy and untrue picture...

We stayed 2 nights here as it was our rest day on the hadrians wall walk. We were warmly welcomed and were very pleased to find a bath in our room which was perfect for aching limbs! The position was very good, close to Vindolanda and an easy walk from the trail. Food was excellent and plentiful. Lovely packed lunch....

Stayed here for one night whilst completing the Hadrian's wall walk. Lovely warm welcome, great room and pub only a short walk away. Breakfast and packed lunch was lovely and honesty tuck shop is a brilliant idea - thank you!

We had a very friendly welcome here. The room was very comfortable and there is a guest lounge with an honesty bar. It's only a short walk to the Twice Brewed Inn for dinner (but uphill on the way back). An excellent packed lunch - especially the sausage roll and the cookies.

Thank you for your kind review. We are glad you enjoyed your short stay with us. We hope you enjoyed the rest of the Pennine Way trail and I am sure you would have been very proud of yourself to finish the trail - well done.

We arrived early but we were made to feel very welcome. This was the fourteenth day of our Pennine Way walk and a bath helped to make our stay very comfortable. The rooms were spotless and the breakfast menu was excellent. If we were visiting the area again we would definitely stay at Vallum Lodge!

Thank you for your review and kind words. We hope you enjoyed the rest of the Pennine Way trail, I am sure after 16 nights walking you would have been very pleased to see the end. Maybe next walk you do will be the Hadrian's Wall trail and you will come back and stay with us again.

Stayed one night in the Snug accommodation. Very good comfortable two room unit. Bathroom a bit on the small size. Kitchen quite adequate how ever due to no shops in the area, all food to be prepared must be brought with you. Very helpful bus driver dropped us off outside the gate of the property. Quite easy access to one...
