Set in the tranquil village of Bigton on the picturesque west side of the island, Hayhoull is perfectly placed for touring the South Mainland. 5 minutes walk from St Ninian’s sands, with many more unspoilt sandy beaches close by, you will be spoilt for choice AND how better to enjoy your breakfast than by feasting on the beautiful, unrestricted views of St Ninian’s Isle and westward to Foula. The South Mainland offers you the opportunity for walking, bird watching, fishing, cycling, exploring historic sites such as Mousa, Jarlshof and Scatness or simply enjoying the coastline and the abundance of wildlife in the area. Mary extends a warm and friendly welcome to her guests, and will do everything she can to ensure you enjoy your stay. She offers a hearty breakfast, with evening meals available upon request, and aims to cater for the majority of special diets, on prior arrangement. Where possible, local organic ingredients are used.

Heyhoull is a beautiful house in the small village of Bigton, with a wonderful view out of the huge windows in the lounge/dining area over the bay to St Ninians Isle. A perfect place to watch the stunning sunsets or scan the bay for wildlife with a pair of binoculars. Mary the owner made us feel so welcome, offering friendly advice on where to go and what to see on Shetland, from the best knitted goods to where the otters hang out. The food all lovingly made by a Mary was the best on Shetland, breakfast or dinner, all gorgeous. Thanks Mary for looking after us for the week you really made our stay on Shetland a special one. Hopefully see you again. Thank you Ivor and Paul.

Stayed with Mary for 3 nights and wished we could have stayed longer. Fantastic views from the longe plus comfortable beds and amazing food. We booked for evening meals which were fantastic and Mary was happy to wait for us the night we were late back from trying to spot orcas.

A lovingly cared for, roomy property with fantastic views of St Ninian's Isle. The owner Mary, prepares a superb evening meal and cooked breakfast. The friendly, family atmosphere and conversation I enjoyed around the large dining table with fellow travellers of different nationalities was unique. My room was large and comfortable with a roomy ensuite. Convenient parking right outside the front door. I am more than happy to recommend Hayhoull B & B to fellow Kiwi travellers.

The external shot doesn't do the inside justice. Thoroughly modernised, with a lovely, comfortable main room with fantastic views (especially nice if the weather's not so good) and very comfy en suite bedrooms too. Mary is local, through and through, and it was great to meet some of her friends and to hear about life on Shetland - when we could understand the fascinating dialect! We were delayed by a day because of bad weather coming off Fair Isle, but this was absolutely no problem. Would definitely be happy to go back.
