This is an eclectic and eccentric lodge worth experiencing at least once. It is a great winding down lodge, or base to recover from jet lag on arrival in Tanzania. It is well placed to experience and explore Arusha NP, however Arusha NP is quite a different park and experience compared to the main parks and reserves that lure in...

We just returned form a stay of 2 weeks (mid April 2014) in Tanzania. We started our first whole week in the Arusha National Park. Most people rarely stay in the Park for more than a night. So we weren't quite sure what to expect. April is also the start of the rain period in Tanzania. But from the start...

Hatari is a close as you can get in comfort to the diverse wildlife of Arusha National Park. No shambling buffer and bounce along endless dusty access roads. I've stayed at several lodges around Arusha National Park but this one is easily the most conveniently situated. Simply put, there is no other accommodation that comes close. Buffalos and Warthogs amble...

I feel bad entering an average rating for this place. It has a great location with beautiful surroundings, very nice, clean and interesting rooms... so why give it an average rating? Mainly because of food and somewhat management. My wife is a pescetarian and that had been communicated clearly before our arrival. Dinner was meat and not very interesting sides...

We are very sorry your wife was not happy with her meal. While decent fish is very difficult to obtain where we are, we normally provide vegetarian dishes with other proteins. I have spoken with our kitchen about this. Even though we should strive for excellence on every night's stay, I am certain that your stay would have improved once...

I read great reviews about Hatari Lodge and thought it would be fun for my husband who is a big John Wayne fan. Hardy Kruger (an actor in the movie Hatari!) originally bought the property after filming and the lodge has some movie memorabilia and posters in the main lounge. The lodge and rooms are beautiful. They have unlimited hot...

We stayed one night at this hotel after a week of safari, just before going back to Kilimanjaro airport. We were upgraded to a suite room and the suite was very nicely decorated with a big open shower in the bathroom. The terrace and the garden are beautiful, you will likely have the chance to spot girafes or buffalos in...

We stayed 2 nights after we climbed Kilimanjaro. It was relaxing and rejuvenating, exactly what we needed! Enjoyed great food and wine, I ate some of the best bread I've ever had! Loved our room, so eclectic and fitting the environment, a lovely fireplace was lit in the evening if you so desired.

We only stayed one night in Hatari camp but were impressed nevertheless. Everything is arranged into detail and you do not need to worry about anything. How relaxing! Lovely views, staff, food, atmosphere and not to forget, great quality beds! Seems like a great get-away from hectic Arusha!

We arrived in Hatari, after having spent two nights in Shu'mata. Although these places are like in two different galaxies, and we had to get accustomed to so many people and normal houses again, we do not want to miss this experience. The location near Mount Meru is so lush, it at first didn't feel like being in Africa. Until...

“No rooms are too far from the main mess/house area. They are all in a tight cluster and form what i could see they were all rather similar, albeit decorated with different motifs and styles, and all very elegantly and eclectically. Whatever room you choose, make sure you have a torch or flashlight handy and be almost packed if you are departing early...as the generator only kicks in at 0730 or later. Wifi in the room did not work...and I was very close to the main house, but it did work fine at the main house. Of course once the generator is off...no wifi is available.”
