Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Went to Pinnacle Hotel for lunch Sunday 9th February. Luckily table was booked because the place is popular and busy on weekends. The favourite food is the pies they make and sell. $8.50 buys you a pie (good variety of different tasty flavours); $13.50 buys you a pie and chips and gravy. They also have other food on menu such as fishermans basket and fish and chips. Even with a crowd our food didn't take too long coming out. The service staff were friendly and efficient. The singer was really quite good and sang a variety of songs. Only issue was the heat and not all of the fans were turned on. (No airconditioning). Definitely worth a visit for a relaxing lunch and a nice drive up the valley. Recommend giving Pinnacle Hotel a go.

Well the Pinnacle Pub is back to its best again. The change back to the old owners has done wonders.
Open 7 days a week, the famous pies are back up to a great standard and all meals tasty. If you are really hungry try to finish the full crumb steak.
Service is prompt and friendly.

A must stop for lunch when exploring the Pioneer Valley. Explore Eungella and Broken River to sight platypus in the wild, swim at Finch Hatton Gorge, grab a coffee at the general store and then head to the Pinnacle Pub for lunch. World famous pies, and the seriously biggest crumbed steak you have ever seen. A great pie and feed amongst the cane fields in the hinterland. Put it on your must do list.

After spending the weekend at Eungella Dam, we were encouraged to visit Pinaacle Pub for a feed.
The overcooked Crumbed steak was appalling and the attempt at Dianne sauce was laughable and meagre.
Our friends were disappointed with their pies and fish.
The only redeeming feature was the tap beer was cold and refreshing and helped wash down the “stuck in ya throat” Sahara steak.

Great old pub full of retro decor. You won't get a better pie anywhere and they serve from 10am. Wonderful, friendly staff. A must visit everytime I'm in Mackay. Live music from 11.30am on Sundays too.

Wow,the pies here are excellent .The new owner "Julie" has done the previous owners proud with keeping the same recipe for all the pies. The pie crust is light & crisp & the fillings are fantastic.Good selection of pies to choose from.My husband had the Beef,Bacon & Cheese with chunks of beef.I had the Chicken & Leek which has chunks of chicken & some veg in it.Both fabulous. The Chips & Gravy if you want with your pies are great also. The "Crumb Steak"is enormous. If you can get through it you need a medal. We had a talk to "Julie" who is lovely & friendly. All the Staff are friendly, very helpful & serve up icy cold drinks..The Hotel is of 1930 era & great to sit & relax. It can get very busy as it's very popular.Beautiful views.A must to stop at.

If you are visiting Eungula or Finch Hatton gorge this is the only place on the way back for a nice meal or coffee. A cold beer is also a welcome treat. Friendly staff and the food didn't take too long.

Glad we stopped. A real nice snake and Pygmy pie. Good gravy around the steak and kidney in a terrific pie pastry. Nice place to stop for a good coffee too. The staff were very helpful and knew their stuff. Will be back

Great spot. Pie for lunch terrific. Large, open grassed camp area. Cute cane train trundles past. We used the camp as a base to take the car (very very steep for a caravan, absolutely would be a first gear crawl, glad we left it at Pinnacle) to Eungella for the day. Very friendly atmosphere at the hotel. Phone to check if they are open, as currently Wed to Sunday, but may change. We would stay again. Small shop and PO 10km away at Finch Hatton, and Ctiterion Hotel). Thanks Pinnacle Hotel!!!

Heard about the Pinnacle pub and pie shack as a spot you just have to stop at.
Not far out of Mackay and absolutely worth the trip.
Pub is more famous for its pies than as pub.
Wife and I both had a pie with chips and gravy. Easily the best, (steak pepper), pie I’ve ever had, and washed down with a GreatNorthern for me and a glass of Shiraz for the Wife.
Great people and a must visit.
