Recently stayed in a B&B in the village and enjoyed a couple of evening meals at the pub. It has great character and characters and the food was really enjoyable; fresh and well cooked with generous proportions.

booked in advance for the upcoming wedding of my stepdaughter at a nearby venue, could not give me the two days required but promised to try all they could to help. And true to his word he came up trumps, and during our very comfortable stay he was very attentive and helpful. If the opportunity ever arose again I would...

It is over 40 years since I last visited this local village pub in Stainforth, North Yorkshire and if my memory serves me well, little has changed since my previous visit - there are still the oak-lined walls and stone clad floors with a raoring log fire in the small bar There were only two other couples in the pub...

The 'Grumpy Old Man' wears a T shirt advertising the fact - a sense of humour!!! The food is home made and excellent with portions so large they are super filling. Dogs are treated to water, biscuits and chocolates (if owner agrees) by Maureen. Towels are proved for wet dogs. I was there tonight when 3 ladies negotiating the Pennine...

That's the sign in front of the pub, so there is a warning lol - Victor meldrew wasn't obviously around when we all went in for a drink with our dog but there was a lovely landlady and a normal bloke pulling pints. The beer garden is a lovely area but unfortunately we didn't get to eat here but did...

Forget the reviews of 'lovely meal' blah blah blah. Quite simply don't put any money over the bar of this establishment . Visited with my sons and dog after a long walk and were treated like dirt by the miserable old bloke who I suspect was the landlord. Let me make this clear, I'm a recently retired professional with 3...

A group of around 20 of us turned up to scout the place out. I've got to be honest I was going to give this place the worst review I've ever provided based purely on the welcome of the landlord and landlady. A few have commented on this. Reluctantly and under pressure from my mates I returned (only pub within...

My husband and I were staying in Stainforth for our honeymoon and discovered the pub on our first evening. The pub itself is a cosy, nicely furnished traditional building and the hub if the village. Andrew and Maureen, the landlords were very friendly from the moment that we walked in, take the time to talk to them, they really are...

We called for a drink after a walk along the Ribble from Settle to Stainforth Force. Nice village pub. Thwaites ales. The Wainwright was quite nice. It was a lovely day , so it was great to sit in the beer garden alongside a gurgling stream. No sign of the grumpy landlord, just a pleasant young man behind the bar.
