I've been staying at the Hullen for many years, and unlike some establishments, the family owning the gasthuis have maintained their high standards.
On this three night trip to take in the August Oldtimer Grand Prix just up the road, I was accompanied and received nothing but complimentary remarks from that quarter about the standard of the hotel.
Posh it doesn't claim to be, but clean, comfortable, reasonably priced, friendly & accommodating it certainly is. The family and staff are without exception all very welcoming and speak excellent English.
Easily found in this quiet Eifel village with good parking on site.
The rooms in both the hotel and the quieter annexe just across the street are of an adequate size without being large. Bed linen (especially the duvets) is of a high quality, with the adequately sized bathroom (shower in our case) being spotlessly clean.
The restaurant serves excellent, unfussy German food. The buffet breakfast has to be one of the most extensive spreads I've experienced in a hotel of this class. An alternative eatery just up the street is an Italian. I've not eaten here, but have received good reports.
Highly recommended

I had a fantastic stay at the Hotel Hüllen, whilst visiting the Nürburgring. This is the sixth trip I've made to the Nürburgring, but my first stay at the Hotel Hüllen. But I have to say that it's the best hotel I've ever stayed in on any of my trips to this area - and this by a huge margin. It's also very good value for money. The rooms are large, clean and well appointed. And I mean very clean. Breakfast is great - a good choice, in a very nice room (a separate breakfast room, not just part of the restaurant). We ate dinner at the hotel one night, which was excellent - and every time we walked past the kitchen, the food smelled delicious. The staff were ever so helpful, and did everything they could to make our stay wonderful. It seems as if the hotel is particularly loved amongst the biker fraternity, and there are great facilities there for bikers, including a garage to store your bikes. But don't let that put off the non-bikers (I'm not a biker myself!!!) It's such a nice hotel, I would even consider taking my wife there for a trip to this part of Germany - which is certainly not something I would have said about any of the other hotels where I've stayed in this area.

As a motoring enthusiast on his pilgrimage to the Nurburgring race track, my wife & I checked the net for hotels close to The Ring.
The Hullen is located in the most charming town of Barweiller which itself is located on top of a hill with broad views. As we drove in, we couldn't understand - & still don't know - where everyone was. It was sooo quiet. After 2 months on the go, the serenity was most welcome.
Other than its proximity to The Ring - approx 7kms - we can't recall why we chose the Hullen, but as we entered Reception, we knew we'd made the right choice. Our welcome was warm, friendly & professional.
The Hullen is SPOTLESS. A credit to the owners. Our room was large & bright; there's an honour system for a fridge containing beer & wine; the young lady overseeing breakfast was very helpful & couldn't do enough for all the guests; and mein host is a motoring enthusiast who, if he has time, will chat about all manner of local motor sport activities. Fascinating.
We wish we'd been able to stay longer in this quiet, spotlessly clean Hullen in the quiet - when we were there - Barweiller. Thoroughly recommend it to all travellers.

Every year I stay at this hotel when attending the OldtimersGrandPrix at Nurburg. The owners are very friendly, the rooms clean and functional. The style is very "Southern German" with lots of wood. Not necessarily to everyone's taste but it is a very clean hotel with a super restaurant. If you like pork this is the place to eat!
Bikers should note that they are very welcome here and the roads around here a heaven for two wheelers.

Another year goes by and another few days spent at the Huellen whilst visiting The Nurburgring. The breakfast room was refurbished last year and this year the bar area had been completely redone. It really looks very good now and the motor racing and biking theme is carried throughout the common parts. The hotel is very clean, the rooms are very comfortable (particularly the beds), the breakfast is excellent and very good value and if you have a meal in the evening you will not be disappointed. I have eaten extensively in the surrounding area and for good honest German fare you cannot beat the Huellen. Add to that the charming and friendly staff, many of whom speak excellent English, and one is left thinking "why would I stay anywhere else"?

We only dined in the restaurant there so i cannot speak for the entire compound as they have a hotel and bowling alley to. But the restaurant was brand new they renovated since my last visit which makes is look a lot more modern, clean and fresh. Lots of people there, lots of locals which make the place lively for such a small village. Friendly staff to, my girlfriend got the wrong order, but it was busy and they handled it very friendly. Prices are good to. I'd recommend this place as the food is good and the place has a nice vibe.

You simply cannot find a better place to stay and a very sensible price was staying in the area, particularly for the Nurburgring
My room was very clean and very comfortable. Décor? Think Black Forest.
Breakfast is more than adequate with an extensive choice of cold meats, cheese etc.
Food in the evening is excellent if you are a fan of German cooking. You wouldn't want to be reincarnated as a pig in Germany. Having said that the cordon blue schnitzel is very good as is the salad bar and the vast ice cream deserts.
Would I stay again? Most certainly - highly recommended.

What a breath of fresh air! Clean rooms: you can see they really take pride in their business. Great food and such a warm and friendly welcome. A 8km drive from the Nurburgrìng. Thank you Ralph and Klara! We will be back!

I was in this hotel the last weekend and all the stay was so nice. They Owners are friendly and helpful, also the room was great with wonderful views and so much space, we cannot say nothing bad except the bathroom.. for me is a little small, but no worries
The hotel is good placed if you want to take a break of all the day driving in the circuit, because there is practically no noise.

Hotel Huellen is a family run hotel with a couple of annexes, one directly across the quiet village street the other a little further away. The rooms are furnished in a rustic fashion. Nothing luxurious but jolly comfortable and perfectly acceptable. This is a good three star hotel that puts on a good breakfast and has an excellent bar and restaurant for the evening. In my opinion it is excellent value for money. All the family Friedrichs pitch in, on reception, in the kitchen, behind the bar. They speak good English and nothing is too much trouble if you ask. I stay here every year for the Oldtimers at Nurburgring and would never stay anywhere else. The hotel has a private car park to the rear. I just adore staying here! I noticed that it is popular with many British bikers as well as the motor racing fraternity.
