Boutique Beach is designed, built and run by Romney Drury, a British diver, who loved this area so much, she gave up her job in the UK to be able to offer divers a wonderful experience for a much more economical price than previously possible in resort diving. The hotel offers 6 spacious, private rooms, 1 main restaurant and 1 roof top restaurant along with a very own Diving center with NITROX and whole range of excursions and opportunities to enjoy the natural Maldivian environment. Boutique Beach is located on Dhigurah which is in the famous whale shark area in the south Ari Atoll. The British Whale Shark conservation group, who are also based on Dhigurah, have recorded 268 whale sharks in our area, of which only 8 are female. Average length is 5.92m which makes them "teenagers." The whale sharks are there all year around, but some weather conditions makes them harder to spot. Mantas regularly feed in our lagoon as well as the famous cleaning station at Rangali which within easy reach. There are 15 deep reefs or Thilas in between Dhigurah and the next island. The famous Kudarah Thila is just 10 minutes away. Our PADI Dive Team will be happy to show you the best diving in the Maldives. We have a PADI instructor and a dive guide available on board together with a speedboat for smaller groups and further dive destinations. Our Dive center is the only place on the island where we have NITROX available.

If you're a diver, or want to learn to dive and you're thinking of booking Boutique Beach hotel... stop looking and book it. Every part of our experience here was outstanding, and our only regret is that we had to leave! The entire team feels like a giant family, and for a little while you get to be part of the magic of it all. As inexperienced divers, we both completed our open water certification and cannot possibly think of a better place to have done this. The hotel (and even the building design) has been set up by Romney, who is a diver herself, which so clearly shows in the vision for the whole experience. Each day there are 2 or 3 dives to different dive sites on offer. With so many different dive sites in the area, locations are chosen by the expert dive team based on conditions and what you would like to hopefully see or experience. Each night before dinner you get together for a talk on different local marine life and to watch a video edited together of the dives from that day (take a look at their YouTube!) - it's such a brilliant set-up! The dive sites themselves are beautiful, teaming with life and we saw both Manta Rays and Whale sharks during our stay, along with so much mstine life! The rooms are spotless and very comfortable, with extra well thought out amenities like beach bags and yoga mats. The food is delicious and prepared fresh, onsite, from their incredible chef. The dive boat is spacious and very comfortable, with an excellent team on board and snorkeling available to those who don't want to dive. The island and the beach just meters from the front of the hotel are also pure paradise.
Thank you to the entire Boutique Beach team for making the whole experience so incredible. Special mention to Lucinda, our fabulous dive instructor - who took an anxious diving newbie and turned him into a fish - to Mette, who took a restless control freak and made her actually relax and to Saeed, for being so much fun and always keeping us guessing with the morning juice.

It was the first time in five years that the coronavirus was over. The nostalgic staff welcomed us with big smiles. There were many hotels and more shops on Deigra, and the whole island had a swanky feel. It feels like I miss the simplicity... The BB was also neatly arranged for beach dinners, and dinner with a pleasant breeze was like a resort. The food was delicious and buffet style. I used to be full of apologies because I couldn't eat the amount served, so I'm glad I didn't feel comfortable taking as much as I wanted.
You can rest assured that all of our guides are certified instructors and well managed. The ship is also laid back and it is nice to dive with a small group of people. Diving is of course amazing! The sea of Deigra is amazing. My purpose here is to see whale sharks, but I will show them to you at all costs! Thanks to the enthusiasm of the staff, I was able to see two days in four days of diving. Thank you. Thank you. I'm also grateful that they are now able to take me to and from the port in a cute car like Tokhtok in Thailand, so I don't have to walk in the sun.
Perhaps because of the friendliness of the owner and staff, guests can get along easily and are not lonely when traveling alone. I'd like to stay a little longer next time. Thank you, BB guys, for a great time!

A very nice facility, perfectly organized, all inclusive, all dishes prepared fresh daily according to local traditions. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.
Many thanks to Saeed, the two chefs and the good spirits in the background who were always there for us.
Diving was also perfectly organized, we were taken to the dives on a large, modern boat, we saw everything, manta rays, whale sharks, reef sharks, turtles, dolphins and so on... fantastic.
Many, many thanks to Mette, our private guide, you looked after Ulrike so warmly, Cam, Lucinda, Dylan, Seb, Sohag and the boat crew, you were great.
We had a standard room, the room had 2 large rooms, a super comfortable bed, a large linen closet. An additional table, a second bedside table, a small cupboard in the bathroom would also do the room good.
It was meticulously cleaned every day. WiFi is great, you could stream Netflix and co. without any problems and without any stuttering. We bought a phone card at the airport, so we could easily make phone calls at sea without being able to see land.
Special thanks to Romney, you have created a little paradise on Dhigurah.

Boutique Beach is without a doubt the best place we have ever stayed and the best experience we have had. The list would be very long if I were to mention everything that is good, but here are a few examples: -We snorkeled with mantas, whale sharks and turtles already on the first day! -We were 100% safe to have our 2 children with us on the dive boat every day from 7am-1pm (it changes a little from day to day depending on weather and animals). Likewise underwater. The diving instructors were constantly watching us when we were in the water and they have a huge knowledge and the animals of the sea. - Everything has been thought of and everything is prepared so that it is ready at the right times; from food to driving to and from the dive boat in small electric vans (so cosy). -Mette, Afzal and co. knows exactly what you need on the island and always helps if there is something you do not know or lack. For example, that there are new towels ready on the diving boat every day, that there are beach mats and drinking bottles that you can fill up as needed, that it is good to wear socks in your flippers, etc. - The food is really good. It is healthy and local but with a touch of inspiration from other countries. It is often served on the roof terrace under the stars or on the beach. Magical! - You feel like you become part of a small family and everyone is attentive and curious. - The dive instructors (Seb, Lucie, Cam and Dylan) are insanely sweet, calm and skilled. You get the best experiences underwater - it doesn't get any better! And the captain and Shohaoug (servant) are nice and together with the divers find the best spots to jump in. - the rooms are SO lovely. -you can snorkel with all kinds of fish on the beach right in front of the hotel, including small sharks, rays etc... three steps into the water and you are in a magical state

If you are reading this review then you have discovered the best accommodation with the best food, looked after by the best team on Dhigurah. We have just returned from 2 weeks of intensive snorkeling holiday and can now confirm the many positive reports, because all our ideas and expectations were far exceeded. The BB was also recommended to us by a repeat guest. We wanted to see big animals and we enjoyed that to the fullest every day. The food was no less important to us and it was great every day. The rooms with open bathrooms are very large and functionally furnished. A perfectly coordinated and harmoniously working team around Romnie spoiled us at all times, surprised us again and again and also took personal wishes into account. We had previously only known the classic Maldives from various resorts. But what we were able to experience here was unique and the most beautiful Maldives experience of all. We would like to thank the whole team again for their great performance. Renata and Marco. We are happy to answer any further questions by email.

We had an incredible time at Boutique Beach. Before we had even landed Afzal was looking after us, we were seamlessly rebooked onto a flight after our boat was cancelled due to bad weather.
Once at the accommodation we were wowed by just how well appointed it was. The room was fabulous, complete with open sky view bathroom.
Diving wise, all we had to do was show up and go down. Everything little thing was looked after, all our gear was managed for us and the crew even went the extra mile drying out the gear at the end of the trip.
The team there are amazing, there's a real family vibe off them. Every day we had highly professional dive guides navigating us around the biggest and the smallest aquatic life that Maldives had to offer. At the end of the day there was often a presentation from the resident marine biologist, a video of the days sights and wonders from Mette and fantastic food up on the roof.
We've been on quite a few dive trips, both boat based and land based, Boutique Beach was hands down one of the best experiences we've had.

When I say this place is amazing I mean it on every level. I’ve been to several dive resorts and this was the best run outfit I’ve experienced.
The dive staff were knowledgeable, friendly, and safety conscious. They know the area, the dive sites, the currents, and the divers! They did an excellent job looking out for creatures in the ocean and creatures on the boat (i.e. us). This place is the opposite of a cattle car dive operation. The largest group we dove with had four people and one dive master. The boat was not crowded and the dive leads did a great job finding lots of amazing and little things. They pointed out nudibranchs and they (and the staff on the boat) did a great job looking out for opportunities to snorkel with whale sharks and mantas in between dives, as if the great dives weren’t enough.
I especially want to recommend Mette, though all the dive staff were stellar. I was having some trouble and when I asked for her advice I got an analysis of my technique, why it was causing me trouble, and she noticed that my BCD did not fit me well and was messing up my profile in the water. She clearly had been paying attention the day before, and she provided me with advice on how to improve my frog kick and general skills in current, and I also learned a few new things that helped with equalizing my ears. I have over 200 dives, so these weren’t total newbie tips either! If you get to dive with Mette, take advantage of her amazing ability to assess your diving (and your gear) and provide you with some rock star dive tips.
But it’s not just the dive staff that make this place so good. It’s all the staff. From the Chef who made sure I always had a gluten free alternative at meals, to the incredible folks who picked me up at the airport, hauled my gear around, left our room spotless every day, and a million other little things.
Boutique Beach has an “all one team” approach, meaning everyone plays an important part in making the experience wonderful for their guests. For this reason when you tip, the tip gets divided up between all the staff, not just the ones you interact with. I think this is one reason everything runs so smoothly on all fronts.
If you want an amazing dive experience, thoughtful staff, a beautiful location, and a peaceful place to stay when you are done seeing what’s under the ocean, I highly recommend Boutique Beach!

Our stay at Boutique Beach was simply fantastic! We spent 7 nights at this beautiful dive hotel and enjoyed every moment. Chef Shanti's food was delicious and varied. The team exudes an incredibly positive energy. The young staff are not only professional but also warm and attentive. We went out on the boat every day and had a great and fun time. The room service was also first class and we felt at home from the moment we arrived. The diving opportunities in the area are simply breathtaking, and the hotel offers all the amenities you could want for a perfect diving vacation. As a guest, we were well looked after on the boat and didn't have to worry about anything. The diving equipment was washed and prepared daily. We can recommend the Boutique Beach Hotel without reservation and are already looking forward to our next visit!

The architecture of the building itself is based on the style of the 1920s and 1930s. The owner, Romney, says she played a major role in this. Romney runs the hotel in a family-like manner and even if the age difference is small (8 years in my case), you feel like you're at 'mother's' (in a positive way). The furnishings are in good condition, the only thing you would want is new bedsheets and a toothbrush. The food is excellent, drinks are available at any time (literally). If you want to sleep in in the morning, you should bring a blindfold and earplugs. It gets light at 6:00 a.m. and the birds start chirping loudly and soon cars and especially mopeds drive up and down the street. Cars? Yes, the island of Dhigurah is not a classic resort but is also inhabited by 'real' Maldivians. However, the locals are very reserved unless they run businesses. Making contact is only likely after months or years of staying on the island. So anyone looking forward to meeting Maldivians (they have to be men, because the women don't speak English and are even more reserved) will be disappointed, unless they are the kind of very extroverted people who can sell a refrigerator to an Inuit. The village (it is definitely not a town) is not very attractive at least at the moment. There is a lot of building going on and little being cleared away. There is a complete lack of attractions for tourists, apart from a visit to the sandy beach at the very end of the island (approx. 4 km). Anyone who wants to read a book on a (rare) bench will be bitten and sucked dry by countless mosquitoes. The dive sites that the Boutique Beach visits are well chosen. Unfortunately, during our stay they only visited the extremely attractive house reefs (e.g. Dhigurah Arches or Napoleon Reef) once a day and once at night. A visit to the island is recommended for divers and snorkelers, but everyone else will soon get bored. Booking at the Boutique Beach is highly recommended for young people and those young at heart who don't like the exuberant luxury of a modern resort. I would book again in a heartbeat.

You will not regret a moment of your stay at Boutique Beach! From the meals to the rooms to the service to the marine life, each experience is crafted and tailored to make the stay comfortable and memorable. While focused on great diving, the staff considers snorkelers in their excursions, offering a great experience no matter your preferred depth. Also we greatly appreciated the consideration for safe and ecologically respectful diving. We saw amazing sights, were often the only ones at a particular dive spot, and were well taken care of by extremely knowledgeable staff. We were one of only 2 couples during our stay who were there for the first time! The staff creates a relaxed family atmosphere while still attending to all details in a professional manner. We loved the food, appreciated the carefully planned dive itineraries and had ample opportunities to enjoy not only the ocean but also the nearby beach. A true gem in the Maldives!

Laundry is available! We do not drink, so we did not pursue this. We did spend a second week on a resort island where there was alcohol available. Hope that helps.
Thats possible. During our stay in February there was a couple and only one of them was diving, the other one snorkeling. We saw Whale Sharks while snorkeling and diving. Some for the Mantas.
