Absolute lovely and tranquil setting. Was so relaxing waking up to the sound of the birds chirping outside. The accommodation is equipped with all the basic necessities. Anja and Warren provided excellent assistance when we had a bit of trouble getting the jacuzzi working - friendly staff who only want the best for their guests! Thank you for making our...

I'd happily give this place 6* for views, tranquility and relaxation but it loses points for negligent service. To start with, it is difficult to find the venue - a little extra signage would really help. It's great to be off the beaten track, the scenery is breath-taking, the Jacuzzi is brilliant (although the cover is cracked). Be warned there...

Hi Irene, Thanks allot for your review. I have gone to the cottage and gotten everything repaired. we bought this place 2 years ago on liquidation and have spend more on it that we bought it for but it looks 100 times better. We are always in the mind set to reinvest the profits back into this gem until everything...

On arrival you follow the sign to reception, funny thing is the reception is one of the cleaners without an office. I was told that the key is in the door of chalet 8. On entering I found that someone had left the stove on with a box of matches thereon. If I had booked in later, I am sure...

We are just back from a lovely weekend at the Elephant Leisure Resort. We stayed in chalet 9 which is located across from the communal area which has a lovely pool. Every chalet has a jaccuzi, a big bbq, table and chairs on the terrace, really lovely. The cottages are well spaced which makes the places feel quite private. Inside...

After a beautifully scenic drive, we arrived and stayed at Chalet 1 which is the furthest and most private of all the cottages. We discovered early on that cell reception was almost non-existent but we were able to communicate with the team via sms and they were quick to assist. Chalet 1 bathroom, while clean, desperately needs an upgrade. But...

We went for a relaxing weekend and that's just what we got. It's a good location with nice views. A complimentary bag of fire wood for convenience would have been appreciated. The cleaning lacked attention to detail with layer of dust on the fridge top, not very well washed pans and glasses. Some handmade or homemade toiletries would be a...

We had a lovely time at this spot. The room was very comfortable, the jacuzzi indulgent and the view beautiful. Regrettably, the service was pretty shoddy. They forgot to drop off our wood. It took a phone call that was never answered, an email and an SMS to get a response hours later asking us to fetch it ourselves! The...

8 Friends spent two nights at two of the cottages. Despite small irritations we had a wonderful relaxing time in a tranquil setting. There was a direction sign along the road opposite a sandy road between the orchards. As there was no arrow pointing in that direction we were a bit confused and had to phone the cell nr indicated....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Resort: Elephant Leisure Resort is only 8 km away from Citrusdal and with its Unique setting and wonderful views over Cederberg Mountain range and Sneeuberg conservancy which is covered in snow in winter creates a relaxing and calming atmosphere that welcomes the weary traveller. The swimming pool is fed with the spring water borehole that provides the water for the resort and conforms to European standards for mineral water. The borehole of 87m delivers 11700 litre of water at a temperature of 26 - 30 °C, all under its own natural pressure. Due to the fact that the water is forced through a calcium formation under its own pressure, there is no need for pumps or filters. By the time the water reaches the top it is sparkling clean. The resort is situated in a wide valley between beautiful mountains with an excellent opportunity to explore the mountain side with a 4km hiking trail with its weird rock formations covered in lichen and over 850 Fynbos species that attracts hundreds of bird species. Cottages: There are 10 chalets of which 4 are two bedroom (en suite) with sitting area in kitchen with wooden fireplace and 6 are one bedroom open plan units all with double doors that open onto the Terrace which is perfect spot for sundowners, to light up a braai or do Stargazing from your private Jacuzzi. In the morning you can take your breakfast outside into the country air and experience the superabundance of bird life which includes visiting Egyptian geese, blue crane, Veroux eagle and other visitors to the indigenous natural Fynbos Mountains that include sugar birds, butterflies, dragon flies and many more. There is also a Reed dam with weaver birds further up the winding gravel road. ... more   less
