It was hard to believe what delights awaited us at the end of the 30 or so kilometres down the unmetalled road from Swellendamm. It was also a great relief when we spotted the first ostriches that indicated we had finally reached the Uys family farm that was so remote we could have safely left our room unlocked. Firstly, a...

Bearing in mind we as the guests had booked the wrong dates so when we turned up unexpectedly our hosts were so accommodating and sorted out the problem with absolutely no fuss. So we arrived a bit tired and the anxious due to our own mistake but all of our anxieties were very quickly sorted. As was our accommodation and...

I can only agree with all of the comments that were written so far. Hannes and Christine are faboulus hosts and the dirt road to get to their place is well worth the trip. We were looking for something close to the Malgas ferry on our way to Hermanus and this was perfect. Unfortunately, we arrived with remnants of food...

We were very lucky to be the only guests for our two night stay (guests had been staying before, and more were due after us). We were greeted by Christine with a pot of tea and after moving in to our spacious, clean and very well appointed room spent the couple of hours before dinner by the pool. Christine was...

We stayed with Hannes and Christine for 2 nights and it was sheer bliss. On arrival we were greeted with a welcome pot of tea and after unpacking were picked up by Hannes for a trip round the farm which has been in the same family since the 1700's. First we went to move sheep from one field to another...

We received a very warm welcome from the owners of this guest house.....cups of tea and lots of advice on our travels. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and Christine very kindly cooked us a delicious dinner with lovely local wine to accompany it. The accommodation was spotless and very comfortable, we had a great night's sleep. Breakfast was good...

Hannes and Christine make you feel very much at home in their beautiful surroundings. The rooms are immaculate and the food quite delicious. It is a long way down a dirt road but well worth the effort, particularly to find out more about how the family has farmed down the generations. If we ever return to the region we would...

Stayed at the farm for 2 nights and it's a nice and peaceful place to stay. Good service with very friendly people. They even made a braai for us the first night. the visit to the ostrich farm was very interesting. Learn a lot of new things about the ostrich. They also have items for sale which come from there...

The family Uys proved to be great hosts in receiving us and to let us enjoy their cooking. This guesthouse lies well apart from Witsand, so you have to drive quite far over gravel-roads...but anyway you get used to it, because also in the direction of the De Hoop Nature Reserve you'll drive over these roads and will use then...

My husband and I stayed at Waterkoof Guesthouse on a slow journey back to Cape Town. Hannes and Christine provided a very warm welcome with a friendly cup of tea and in no time had us absorbed in a the details of ostrich farming and wanting to return in the breeding season although we had only just arrived! We were...
