Went here for a drink on Bank Holiday Monday, very cute pub and cosy lounge, we didn't eat. but the food being delivered looked delicious, there was outside eating area, both in the sun and shade, will go again for a meal on another sunny day.

Had a Sunday lunch with my parents. Upstairs is alright, nothing special. Down stairs looked much more warm and welcoming. Staff were happy, cheerful and professional which is a very nice change to most restaurants we visit. Overall the food was good. Starters were ok, mains were great but desserts were average. I would like the chef to know that...

Hi Ralph Thankyou for your review on tripadvisor Our Chef agrees that traditional pudding should be served the traditional way in a bowl with a good topping of custard cream or jam in the case of your rice pudding. Customers like foods to be presented with flair or quirky presentation and it is the future of reintroducing traditional desserts and...

A roaring log fire, a chatty cheerful barmaid, a wonderful meal of Lamb Cawl with hot bread rolls, Sea Bass fillets and rice pudding served with sweet and sour apples. In addition a good selection of real ales. It was like a step back into the old ways when pubs were run for the customers benefit and visitors were welcomed...

I was in need of a room in Newport and as I was in a van I looked at the city ones but I was unsure about parking. That's when I saw the Hollybush in Newports suburbs with parking. I booked it with the LateRooms.com app and I took a drive to Draethen just outside Newport to find it. I...

We chose The Hollybush as a base to visit Cefn Mably, and nearby Cardiff for the weekend. The accommodation was clean and comfortable and very characteristic. We thought it was raining outside until we realised there was a stream running behind the cottage (-city folk for you!) We loved the sound of the stream and the quietness of the area....

Very average, menu not what is advertised. Beer garden rubbish bins overflowing, rooms damp and tired, bar dated and shabby. Location is the only plus point, nice and quiet, with a pretty stream. Landlady was stressed and over worked

Well, it's a beautiful place to be, lovely and out of the way, quiet. The room is okay, but the fact on the booking it's classed as a luxury with toiletries it's not. It's basic and has no toiletries. The fact there was around 9 spiders in the room and moths and little flies made it all the more horrendous,...
