#1 of 3 Speciality lodging in Concepcion
El Roble has very comfortable accommodation and excellent traditional Paraguayan and German cuisine. Almost all ingredients are sourced from the farm. If you would prefer to source your own, there are excellent fishing opportunities nearby, and if you would like to strike out from the farm we provide some adventure activities.

We had an excellent time at El Roble. Peter and his family are friendly and helpful, the pool is awesome, and there are various endemic species on his property, both wild and rescued. Bathrooms/showers are super clean. WiFi is excellent. There is also a grill guests can use to cook or barbecue. A stay here is truly an authentic insight into life in rural Paraguay. The town of Belén, with basic food items, is a 30-minute walk if you are cooking for yourself. If not, they have a restaurant, Peter’s wife’s food was delicious! Additionally, following Peter’s advice, we completed a three day kayak trip down the Rio Aquidiban and Rio Paraguay to Concepcion. This trip was a highlight, as the river was constant sandy beaches, fantastic campsites, and filled with toucans, caimans, howler monkeys, jabirus, and one rare king vulture. If you are coming to Paraguay for a week, a stay at El Roble followed by a kayak trip is an excellent plan! Highly recommended!

Peter has built a very nice piece of paradise! Even though Tripadvisor says that it's unavailable, Peter has plenty of room to welcome you. He just doesn't want to pay the big amount of money Tripadvisor asks to be on their website. He asked several times to delete him, but they don't give any response. So if you would like to go (which I very much advise you), you can go to his website and contact him

El Roble was an amazing farm with lovely little wooden rooms and loads of animals and wildlife. You really felt like you were in the middle of nowhere and it was a brilliant place to relax for a few days. Our room was really cute with a double bed, ensuite and lots of shelves full of books - perfect! We had a few frogs in our bathroom, which was fine (hubby didn't like them 'watching' him - haha!) and we could hear the wildlife at night which I loved. The farm had lots of rescued animals and some VERY cute piglets which we helped to bottle feed. You could go on walks around the fishing lakes and see loads of birds which was fantastic for photography and the fireflies in the evening were just stunning, as were the stars! Peter was a brilliant host and we loved hearing his stories and learning about the farm. He was really helpful giving us advice about things to do and ways of travelling (Peter - the bus from Filadelfia to Santa Cruz was 'interesting' and was definitely an adventure! Hehe!) The food was delicious (the best we had in Paraguay) and there was a bar where you could help yourself and just sign out what you drank so that you can pay at the end. It'd be great for children too as there is table tennis, mini-golf, play area, volleyball net, swimming pool etc. Overall 10/10 Absolutely loved it and would highly recommend it to anyone who loves animals and nature.

Thank goodness our family took a chance on this adventure farm. Our kids had the best time ever: the pool, ping pong, the fresh food and delicious menu, the rescued animals ... they never stopped laughing. Truly one of our best family memories. Rustic abode, self-sufficient philosophy, environmentally conscious agriculture - and above all the wit, insight, and kindness to share what they have with others. Thank you so much, Peter and family.
