We had booked another casa in Baracoa but arrived to find out that the casa was no longer open to foreigners! The lady who had taken the booking was not at the Viazul to pick us up as planned and we only found by asking a neighbour for help (thank you Lidia from Arca de Noe :-)). Anyway, we were...

i spent two weeks in the casa de Ramón and Yamile', and met her fascinating sister who was visiting from Havana. It was my 13th trip to Cuba. The casa has a view of the Malecon and the Sea, and is only 3 blocks from the cathedral plaza. Everything was great, comfortable and homelike. Ramon was nice enough to give...

Yamilet's casa was the best stay in our whole 3-weeks-trip. We felt like home again, especially when you try the yummy breakfast our one of Baracoa's special meals for dinner. If we are coming back one day we would definitely stay with her again. Very friendly and caring family!

Lovely casa and lovely family in the little town of Baracoa, the casa is a minute walk to the main plaza, rooms are spacious, very clean and they have a wonderful view of the sea. The food is amazing, don’t miss breakfast or dinner, I highly recommend the octopus with tomato sauce!

Homestays (aka B&Bs or, in Cuba - casas particulares) are the thing in Cuba. Not just because they're cheaper than hotels, but because it gives us the chance to get some sense of what life is like for Cubans. Yamilet is the most delightful, hospitable, friendly hostess and not at all thrown by my being a vegetarian. Unfortunately I don't...

“Whatever it is I adjust and have a great time. I think both rooms have two beds, a double and single. In the front bedroom, Ramón has tons of books in Spanish, but borrowing a book for the stay is allowed. Viva la Cuba! December 17, 2014”
