Forgot to put a review on at the time. In terms of cleanliness, facilities, friendliness and value for money this is definitely a 5 star. The only reason for the slight downgrade is the lack of other attractions nearby although we went as the season was winding down and it might be busier in high season. A true family run hotel and fully deserves its high rating
We have recently spoke to the hotel as we know owners and they are close for the year due to covid restrictions they are realy sorry but will be open as usual next year . We had booked with jet2 and they have now taken the hotel off there bookings .
I took my grown up kids on a weeks break. The hotel was basic but very clean and tidy. The rooms were spacious and clean. It was very hot and we had to pay for the air conditioning but it’s a must. The pool was a good size and not to busy. There was much to do in the area but there was an ok bus service in to town. The food was outstanding and plentiful. I would definitely go back. A very enjoyable experience was had by all of us!
Outstanding service from owners and staff. This is truly an amazing place to stay, an amazing experience. The room, 81, was spotless clean, cleaned every day, fresh towels everyday. My wife’s 50 th birthday on the Wednesday, staff decorated our room as we were at the pool and as I went to pay our bill for our evening meal they would not let me leave, both the owners and staff appeared with cake n ice cream plus sparkler and singing happy birthday to her. Service outstanding, nothing too much trouble. Food is amazing, menu basic but food, Greek or European is first class. We ate at taverna every night. This is honestly the most genuine, quality holiday we have been on. To all at Filoxenia thank you all so much. We’ll be back next year.
We couldn’t fault the Filoxenia our first time in Rhodes in fact first time in Greece we weren’t sure what to expect and hoped the previous 5 star reviews were accurate. We were not disappointed, the accommodation, food and hospitality were second to none and great value. Rooms are simple but clean, upper floors have the best views. The grounds are beautifully kept with lime and pomegranate trees and plenty of fresh basil if you need any for cooking. There is a 2 ring cooker and fridge with freezer compartment I suspect cooking anything needing more than one pan should prove difficult but everything you need to make breakfast or lunch. The food at the Filoxenia is excellent and no more expensive than nearby restaurants, we never paid more that 45 euro for 2 starters, main meals and drinks. Local beer is around 3 euro a pint / 0.5 litre and house wine 6.50 euro for 0.5 litre. You can get simple dishes with chips, rice, salad etc or there are some excellent Greek dishes to try on the menu and daily specials board. The Pork chop is massive and is served on BBQ night as well alongside Chicken Fillets and whole Sea Bream, for between 15 - 17 Euros and includes Greek Salad & Bread to start with a choice of the BBQ main course which is served with oven roasted potatoes and rice as well as a fruit pudding, if you wanted more you only had to ask. They also do full English Breakfast and sandwiches/snacks at lunch. There are 2 small supermarkets left out of the driveway where you can buy essentials including water, bread, milk, wine, beer etc. Don’t expect too much in the way for variety at these shops though. For a change of venue try Billy’s for drinks and meals including breakfast can’t speak too highly of this place either, staff and food are great. Also further on from Billy’s is RODI we went there some afternoons for coffee and cake which was great, but they also do pasta and pizza all day/evening. One thing about the food in Rhodes I would avoid steak whenever it’s on the menu it’s very thin and tough when we tried it at a couple of places (not at Filoxenia I don’t think it’s on the menu there) the pork and lamb chops were a delight at Billy’s and Filoxenia. The beach isn’t great it’s mostly shingle, if you are planning to go in take some reef shoes otherwise you may hurt yourself getting in or out as when we were there it was windy and the sea was rough where it met the beech. There is a kite surfing school if you want to try that. Not a lot for kids in the area but there are the excellent Filoxenia pools which were very nice and not busy at that time of the year. The bus stop for Rhodes is outside the hotel but the time table is more a guide than a guarantee! We went on the one day it rained and the first bus was full and never stopped, we got on the second one but it was very busy as everybody was looking for something to do while it was raining, we couldn’t face the bus on the way back and got a taxi at one of the ranks in Rhodes it’s a fixed price which is displayed on boards around Rhodes, it was 28 euro. We also ate lunch in Rhodes and for a salad, pizza and 2 beers each it was 35 euro which I didn’t think was bad we weren’t rushed at all even though they were very busy. The family that run the hotel are super friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them or the staff I think this will be our go to autumn break, the hotel closes mid October as most do in Rhodes, it’s not a winter destination. Hope info helps if like us you are first timers to the hotel/area. …
