After a long flight to St Jean, it was nice to stay at a B&B, before heading off on the Camino. (Hostels throw everyone out at 8am, and hotels are too impersonal). Marie, the proprietor, is friendly and very helpful (especially with Camino walkers). And her house is warm, comfortable and well located. And most importantly, Marie is a good...

We spent 3 nights here on our way from Madrid/Burgos Spain to Paris. The home is exactly as portrayed on their websites. We had the blue room. It was spacious, clean and uncluttered. The bed was comfortable and the bath very modern. The owner greeted us warmly, gave us a great orientation to the area and made good dining suggestions....

Marie Josée was an amazing host. Great homemade jams, very clean and spacious rooms. A very quiet and well situated location. Don't bother looking at other locations, this is the place to stay! The backyard has beautiful fig trees.

We found this charming inn on Trip Advisor and were extremely pleased. The room was colorful, clean and spacious with a very clean, modern bathroom. A small inn, you feel like you are staying with family. The owner has done a wonderful job renovating a basque farmhouse! The breakfast was copious and the homemade, variety of jams is not to...

The B&B is located in a lovely quiet area next to "downtown." We could walk easily to everything and get onto the Camino route the next morning. Marie-Josee took good care of us. We paid extra for dinner with her--it was delicious and hearty. We enjoyed sitting in her garden in the afternoon, too.

Marie-Josée is a gracious and friendly host who keeps a spotless home and provides a delicious French breakfast. Our rooms and the bathroom were big and the large windows provided lots of natural light. It was very quiet and comfortable. There is also a refrigerator that guests may use if they wish.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This residence with harmonious proportions and beautiful luminosity owes its name to its slate roof, characteristic to the Soule province. The House anchors near the gates of ramparts of the so picturesque town of Saint Jean Pied de Port, mythical stopping place of the pilgrims of Santiago de Compostela (Saint Jacques de Compostelle). From there, within a radius of one hour, you can discover the Basque Coast, make a Spanish escapade or say Hello to the South Peak of Ossau (Pic du Midi d'Ossau). From the entrance, heart of the house, to the pink sandstone paving, flies away the staircase towards rooms. In the early hours, your shutters will open on the garden or on the slopes of the Arradoy covered with the vineyards on Irouleguy. Chestnut wooden floor, whitewash, river shingle walls contribute to a feeling of serene sobriety. In the book corner with patina woodwork, hearts and stars radiate in marquetry, delicate symbol of well being. The big oak table calls for the sharing of a seasonal tasty and simple cuisine. For your hostess, Ziberoa is a story of love at first sight when dicovering EUSKARA's landcapes and culture. They are waiting for you for a day time or for a full life. ... more   less
