We only had a short time here as we were en route to Stewart Island. Our hostess, Sherry, was warm and helpful and made us feel very welcome, serving us home cooked food. We made good use of the guest lounge where met some locals and had an entertaining conversation. It’s a great location of you are catching the ferry...

The hotel and proprietress are gems! The owner, Ms. Shelton, is a long-time expat living in Bluff, running a lovely old hotel (with lovely updates), and making music for many to enjoy. The small intimate restaurant and bar are cozy and the food was lovely. We loved our stay!

Thank you so much for your great review. I have always reminded myself that two sides are involved in most situations. In this situtation, you were extremely lovely guests to attend to and I certainly enjoyed our conversations about the USA elections and topics in general. Hope the rest of your holiday was great and happy.

Our accommodation place suggested here for dinner as Oyster Cove restaurant was closed due to fire. Food was ok but nothing to rave about. The lady was on her own so did sll front of house and cooking.

Enjoyed our overnighter here en route to Stewart Island. Friendly, helpful staff who go out of their way. Welcoming, old style hotel/lodge with retro decor put a smile on the face, comfortable bed and very handy location to ferry terminal. Handy free parking behind hotel. Didn't eat here, but on reflection looking at menu would have been a good choice.

The owner waited up for me and went the extra mile by giving me some food. She helped me store my bike safety and was friendly and gave me the low down on Bluff. Loved the art deco building. I had a very comfortable night.

Like many reviewers we booked this hotel because it is within easy strolling distance of the Stewart Island ferry and is modestly priced. We did not realise what a depressing place Bluff is, a run-down port with a typical, industrial skyline and view across the bay to an aluminium smelter - in total contrast to the nearby wild beauty of...

We stayed at this hotel for one night on our way to Steward Island, booked two rooms for 4 of us (including the so claimed “Ghost Mary Haunting Room No 2”, nothing happened ). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It’s such a lovely B&B with quite a bit old world charm. The building itself is an Art...

A hotel that has seen better days, especially warehouses having been built in front obscuring their sea view .saying this ,the friendliness, cleanliness ( the nicest sheets I have slept on !!! ) and great food cooked to order . A good breakfast included in the very reasonable rate.especially as very limited accommodation in this area.

An ideal place to stay in Bluff. we stayed the night before taking the ferry to Stewart Island. We had an excellent sleep, great breakfast ( especially the coffee) and were able to easily walk to the ferry. We also had dinner at the hotel the evening we arrived and really enjoyed the meal, very good food .

A couple of us stayed here for two nights and loved. It's original Art Deco restored with a loving hand. The bedrooms great and has everything we needed. Breakfast was basic but again everything we needed including real coffee. The best bit are the staff who were super friendly. There is good parking behind and a few shops in same...
