Nestled in a prime spot, Baan Chaweng Beach Resort & Spa garners praise for its serene yet central location, a stone's throw from vibrant nightlife and dining. The resort's amenities, including an immaculate beach and various dining options, are a hit with guests. While the rooms are celebrated for their cleanliness and space, noise can sometimes be an issue, and opinions on value for money vary. The staff's friendliness shines, although some visitors suggest improvements at reception. The lively atmosphere, paired with comfort, makes for a memorable stay.

Stayed as a family of 4 in October 2024. From the moment we arrived, to the time we left, we LOVED the hotel and resort. Both our rooms (superior) where spacious with either a large double or twin beds, sofa, small table, dressing table & amazing air con! The shower room equally large & spacious. The location is amazing!!! Straight out your room, 2 minutes to the restaurant, which is next to the pool & directly from there, steps down onto the beach, with wooden loungers. All areas are kept immaculate by the staff, who circulate continuously & make sure everyone is ok. On the beach there are sellers trading, but just a polite "no thanks" & they go on their way. However, we did buy coconut water from one, lunch from another, many bought from the inflatable guy, all where really friendly.
With regards to location within Chaweng, it is spot on. Literally out the front of the hotel, down a small alley (with hotel security at the bottom), then you are on the main road. 5 minute to the left is the Central shopping centre, with lots of shops, restaurants, Topps superstore, outdoor market selling food, souvenirs & as night local bands/singers play music, so you can listen whilst eating your food. Above is a cinema. If you turn right out of the hotel alley, they are lots of different restaurants, bars, shops & markets. In addition to street sellers & mini marts.
Overall we loved Baan Chaweng & had a fantastic time! A special shout out to all the staff there, but in particular Chai who went above & beyond on reception, Fern who always had a smile & the Security Guards who where always so welcoming.
We will be back. Soon, hopefully!!

Huge, traditional rooms that were clean and comfortable. Kettle and fridge were a great extra. Rooms cleaned every day and staff were helpful and friendly. Excellent location close to the bustling main strip but once in the hotel grounds it was totally silent. Breakfast buffet was amazing and drinks reasonably priced. We spent every day on the beach as it was so hot and the breeze was most welcome. There are signs stating no sun-beds were to be reserved but that was ignored by the pool and on the beach. If you don’t get down by 9am you have little chance of getting a bed!!

We have stayed in many hotels on Samui and always avoid Chaweng as it is too manic and noisy but we decided to have 4 nights on the beach road and we’re not expecting much from Baan Chaweng but we’re really pleasantly surprised. We had a grand delux villa which is only a few pounds more than other rooms and was super close to the beach. The beds are huge , the bathroom is big. The staff are lovely without exception. The breakfast was good and we ate dinner one night in the restaurant which is good value.
The spa was closed so we didn’t use but our friends had three massages in their rooms for a ridiculously cheap price.
The planes start flying very close over the hotel at 07 30am but to be honest we didn’t notice them after the first day. The bass from music from the Ark bar next door can be heard till 2am but didn’t keep us awake…we slept well
There are several new upmarket eateries and bars right outside the hotel which we tried out and it is nice to step off Chaweng beach road into the gardens of Baan Chaweng.
No complaints from us ( apart from very limited TV channels and although they say there is Netflix for guests the engineers said they’re TV is not compatible ).
We will come back and can recommend !!

We booked to stay here for our Honeymoon and we were quite upset on our first night and again towards the end of the stay. Our room was upstairs at the back of the resort above the staff quarters of the next resort and two down from a large nightclub. The room itself was basic and the first night the noise was very loud until around 2AM. We had our 1 year old with us and despite this and it being our honeymoon the bed was twins pushed together. This room was the ‘Deluxe’ it was not the cheapest room they have. We were considering just leaving the resort. Instead we upgraded the room but this wasn’t complimentary we paid the difference. The new room was the top Villa at the resort and whilst the room was considerably nicer (though still a noticeable step down from the equivalent room at another resort on the island where we had just married) it was still loud until 11PM most nights due to beach shows and staff. This room wasn’t available for our full stay so we were made to move again and they again put us in a twin. On both change days we lost the days as we effectively had to check out and hang around until check in. Having waited all day we then had to wait for the room to be adjusted to a ‘double’. We’re quite awkward so tend not to complain and just got on with enjoying our holiday but we were disappointed with all the rooms and don’t consider any price point to be good value for money compared to other resorts on Koh Samui.

On the whole the main staff were brilliant - I extend that to the bar and restaurant team, chauffeurs and cleaners. They would always try to do their utmost for us and were so kind and thoughtful around our 1 year old. However the reception staff were poor. They weren’t particularly communicative or welcoming and when we spoke to them about the rooms rather than offering solutions they chose to argue against us. We didn’t go in shouting or moaning we simply said what we wanted changing and asked how to do this and that we would pay for the upgrade. Nothing was complimentary at any point so to be told we were wrong was poor customer service. Nothing we said was wrong they made us wait on the change days rather than preparing rooms, they gave us twins when asked for doubles, they hadn’t set the cot up and the room was loud and basic - it was communicated calmly and we were responded to in a way that indicates the resort gets a lot of complaints and blames the customer rather than themself. I was a little put out that they never did anything for our honeymoon either. There was a towel swan on the bed but none of the staff got told it was our honeymoon they never knew, any kind of personal touch would of made a big difference (we had informed the resort on booking).

The big plus of the resort is the location. It backs onto a beautiful sandy beach with a beautiful calm sea. On the other side is the main Chaweng strip with many bars and restaurants. It is a lovely base to either enjoy a meal or cocktail from the resort on the beachfront or explore the town. Due to this we were able to ignore the issues we had and just make the most of our holiday which we did really enjoy. However, you could equally have this positive at any of the other resorts on the strip and I would recommend choosing one of the others, I wouldn’t return to Baan Chaweng.

I spent a great 6 days/nights here and would like to recommend the Resoirt to anyone who travels Koh Samui, whether as a family, couple or alone. The Resort is located in a side street that borders directly on the tourist and busy main road of Chaweng. Nothing at all can be heard of the party noise in the complex!!
The complex is beautifully designed, many beautiful palm trees and trees. The rooms are very clean and spacious. In the bathroom it can get a bit warm, as the air conditioning cannot get there. The breakfast offer is totally fine, something for every taste. Fresh fruit, hot dishes, bread and cold cuts, pastries, cereals, ...
The beach section is great, clear water and soft sand and beautifully designed with beautiful sunbeds, umbrellas, lamps, ... The beach chairs are free for hotel guests, other visitors can use the chairs for a fee. You can also have a massage on the beach.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. Especially Mr. Chai at reception is so friendly and helpful 😊 Thank you for a great and relaxing holiday!

The atmosphere at the hotel was very good! I think the room has just been renovated. The room I stayed in and the others looked new and beautiful! I really think it's the best hidden resort!
The location is great, quiet inside the resort, but close to the Central Shopping Mall outside and plenty of restaurants around.
For dinner, we went to the Central Shopping Mall, bought som tam and pat thai at the stall inside, and ate in front of the live music section! The somtam at the street stall called Joy was the best, and it was better than any somtam I had in Thailand! 👍

The hotel breakfast is also very good! There was a wide variety, and the pork porridge was delicious! Some Western food was delicious, too! After breakfast, I took a cappuccino by the pool for a drink.

The beach is 2 steps from the hotel!!! Lying by the pool, just drinking beer on the sofa for hours! There are two happy hours, from 12:00 to 14:00 and from 16:00 to 19:00 beer, cocktails 🍸 etc. are slightly cheaper!

The rooms were big and nice, and the one I stayed in had a smoking balcony! The showerhead was the only one that couldn't be turned around, so I was a bit worried! And the DJ music at a bar somewhere nearby, it was late at night and a little loud, but I slept normally.

Overall, I think this resort is great for money! I couldn’t ask for more… Finally, I would like to say that the service of the staff by the pool was very good… Their professional service will make our day great! I really appreciate it. And during their stay, Tomb and Aid were very kind and arranged everything!

I will be back here!!

Very nice, older resort, centrally located in Chaweng. Despite this, it is pleasantly quiet, and you hardly notice the hustle and bustle around you.

The beach location is first-class, the rooms are very clean and well-kept. The breakfast is absolutely fine by Thai standards.

The staff is super friendly and immediately takes care of guests' needs. We also really liked that we could still use the pool/beach on the day of departure and that there are showers for guests before they leave.

Next time we are on Samui, we will definitely stay longer. We thought the price-performance ratio was very good.

We booked 2 weeks here direct by email with Mr Tum and he was ever so helpful. We have stayed here before so it was nice to get his email and see he was still there. The hotel picked us up and also back at the end of the holiday.
Upon check in we were delighted to see the same friendly faces still there at reception. Special mention for the super service we had from Mr Chai, Ms Ice, and oh I think it is Ms Ann? Sorry if I have it wrong. Walking down to our room it was great to see the garden had been kept as beautiful as ever, they really take great care of the lush tranquil gardens. Our room was lovely with a "welcome home" grass sign on the bed and cute towel elephants and flowers.
Everything was fantastic in the room, good hot shower and good pressure. The bed is comfortable as they have got very good mattresses, not rock hard at all. Special mention to the housekeeper as she did an impeccable job and was super flexible to work around us. The door handle on the inside fell off and reception arranged this to be fixed ASAP. We loved chatting to reception staff over the 2 weeks and had some good laughs with them. Breakfast finished each morning at 10am which was always very busy 9-10 and I think it could do with at least going to 10.30am. I was disappointing in the Thai selection at breakfast as there were only ever two options and often the same and they did always have soup with rice but the entire time we were there I only saw it eaten twice. I had a look at the hotel next door, Chaweng Garden one morning to see what their breakfast was like and the restaurant manager was so funny and kept offering me to help my self to see if I liked it as I told him our hotel didn't not have a good Thai breakfast selection. He said they change the five dishes each day. They also had a bigger selection of fruit and they had cheese. My husband struggled to get a banana at Baan Chaweng to have with his pancakes. I think next time I would be tempted to pay and eat breakfast next door. The Baan Chaweng still had the same breakfast manager who has always been super friendly and she remembered us. Ms Lau? Sorry again if wrong. We only had a rushed lunch on the last day as we always eat out and about on the island. The biggest disappointment for me was no beach massage girls and they only suggested going to the spa which is a lot dearer and also not the atmosphere of being able to watch the word go by. I went and had a massage everyday at Chaweng Garden which was great but a shame to spend money off site. We will come back to Baan Chaweng as staying next door didn't appeal even though it had better breakfast and massage on the beach. We appreciated the effort the staff at Baan Chaweng go to ensuring our stay was great. I hope they have a busy season and we look forward to bringing friends with us next year to stay.

We have stayed here for a few years now usually staying about 2 weeks and did so this year. We were made well aware that they were renovating the restaurant and reception while we were there and it did not bother us. We got breakfast at other places or skipped it and the sea makes a good swimming pool. FYI it opened back up from the beginning July. The staff have amazing memories, especially the beach boy and breakfast manager (even though she was not at the hotel due to renovations she spotted me at fishermans market). Gardens are lush and well kept, bed is comfy and the shower was perfect. The location is right in the heart of the busy part of Chaweng but it is away from the road and we didn't get bothered by any noise. Our room was a good size and so was the bathroom with heaps of space to feel at home. Would love to see the beach massage girls back but I just went next door each day. The beach area is kept well swept and they have ample loungers, drinks were a good price. We look forward to going back next year to make use of the renovations and see those lovely staff members. Very happy with our stay and could not fault!

A marvellous resort on Chewang Beach. The staff were amazing, Lai is the best and they were all very proud of their property. Daily room service was very thorough. We loved swimming at the beach just outside our room, sparkling, clean water and comfortable sun lounges. Only one pool but sufficient and breakfast was great. Fire show Tuesday night was awesome. Only complaint was next door guests partying too much with no regard for others (walls very thin). Definitely the pick if you like chilling by the beach. We'll be back 🙂
