Hotel let us check in early, provided clean towels and tidied room everyday and provided 2 bottles of water free each day! Breakfast was included and was great - The cook was a lovely lady from Kazakhstan who spoke Russian so we communicated through Google translate and she was always kind, smiley and accommodated us very well and provided great food to start our day! Pool was getting cleaned on first 2 days but was great to use the following 4 days - pool conveniently located near kitchen/dinning and reception area. Hotel located about 10 minute drive from main beach in Chaweng and access to main roads and other locations on the island is easy via scooter or car/taxi - hotel always accommodated us when ever we asked for something and they helped with receiving and paying for the delivery of my tablet from when I left it in our previous hotel in Hat Yai! Would certainly stay here again 😊👍

The hotel was good. A bit far from everything else but it was ok since we rented a scooter. If you are not planning to rent a car or scooter, choose another hotel.
The room was clean and actually very nice. It was good locking and they cleaned everyday. The pool was not very nice as it was freezing cold (even in 35 degrees). The staff didn’t understand English so it was a bit hard to ask questions.

We only stayed the there one night but the place was very clean well maintained room was nice little hard for my liking but overall very good. If there was a restaurant on site or close by I would rate it A 5 The owner or manager was extremely helpful offered to drive us to a place to eat or even use a motor bike. She also took us to the airport in the morning. Will most definitely stay there next year when we go back.

We came to Thailand in September for a long term living. Needed a place to live for a few days to get our self a motorbike and to search accommodation.

--- Pictures on booking sites (TripAdvisor) are taken long time ago. Right now it isn't even close to reality. Rooms are pretty much poor and old, toilet and shower are very dirty.
--- They do not speak English at all.
- Pool isn't a pool. It is a bit bigger then jacuzzi with dirty water and no one uses it at all.

+++ Room walls and windows suppress noise so it is possible to get a good sleep.
++ Location is good enough to start searching long term house/apartment from it. Very close to all the supermarkets. Bophut / Bangrak / Chaweng / ChoengMon / MaeNam are close enought as well.
++ Price is 500 baht per night and that seems pretty much cheap and fair.
+ They have WiFi 1 channel 2 routers. Drops time to time, but possible to use for internet surfing and skype.

As a result i can say that if you search a hotel (even a cheap one )for a Thailand vacation it isn't the place. If u just need some place to sleep and rest in between searching your accommodation it is pretty cheap and suitable place.

We arrived here December 26th after making a booking for 3x twin rooms for 3 nights.....

Firstly the hotel description is a bit off when it says it's in a good location, it's in a terrible place!! Not central at all and expensive to get a taxi to/from the centre!

Secondly, we looked at our rooms and found that we had doubles instead of twins which was not acceptable. Admittedly the rooms looked nice but on the 3rd floor (no lift!) and a bed short!

We had already paid so had to ask for a refund and got the money thrown back at us with a torrent of abuse in Thai from the owner! They then wouldn't call us a taxi and instead told us to pay 1000baht and they would take us to the town, we didn't have any option but to take the offer although we did manage to bargain down to 600baht.

All in all..... Avoid!

We booked the hotel a few months ago on booking.com. We realised the price had gone down half price on the night we stayed but we left it as it was as the booking was confirmed. We asked for late check out after seeing how much the rooms were that day and they were asking more than the room rate and then when we walked away they put it down to half what they were asking, but that put us off. There was nothing near the hotel and there are much better hotels near the beach for better prices. We asked to use the printer but they Said thes didn't have one, when i could clearly see one. Wouldn't recommend this hotel.

I would not usually go to such lengths to leave a negative review (I've actually created a TripAdvisor account for the purpose) but could not believe the attitude of the owners of this hotel and felt compelled to warn other travellers to go elsewhere! I have been travelling through South East Asia for nearly three months and have never received such appalling service from hotel staff. We were generally jolly people and avoid confrontation as far as possible.

First the room - we had a lovely double bedroom with a balcony. Clean and spacious. It was quiet with decent air con and the bathroom was pleasant. My only complaints for the room would be that the curtains are very thin and let in a lot of light in the morning and the TV is an old style CRT TV and has very limited channels. The WiFi was very slow and the connection dropped constantly. While Internet is slow generally in Thailand every single restaurant we ate in on Koh Samui during our stay had faster more reliable Internet so I think the hotel could do with getting a professional in to upgrade or fix their web connection.

The hotel location isn't great if you don't want to rent a bike - the beach is too far to walk and there are limited restaurants nearby. However bike rental is cheap directly from the hotel. I would not recommend getting taxis everywhere as they are very expensive. However the location is reflected in the lower price so we felt this was a fair compromise.

Now, having read some of the negative reviews of this hotel it seems I am not alone in having a poor opinion of Chris and his partner. Chris is incredibly unprofessional, I am fairly sure he was drunk at every encounter we had with him and he certainly appeared to enjoy confrontation. He cannot take criticism well despite his claims to the contrary. Be prepared to be shouted at and essentially told any issue is your own problem or that this is just how things are done in Thailand. Chris seemed to take an instant dislike to us as soon as we arrived. A three night long saga ensued where we were hounded at every opportunity by Chris. He was very hostile and aggressive and it made us very uncomfortable. You could not simply avoid speaking to him, despite our pointed attempts to avoid him he will follow you to continue arguing with you (very one sided as we are attempting to disengage). There was no calming him down despite several attempts by both myself and my partner to explain we were happy with the room and could he please stop etc. He kept telling us he did his utmost to make guests happy but couldn't seem to grasp that what would make us happy was to be left in peace. We were so uncomfortable around him that we never used the pool or ate at the hotel in order to avoid being in his presence as much as possible. We would have moved hotel if it wasn't so difficult to find a room during the Christmas period. The episode came to a head on our last night when we had had enough and attempted to explain to Chris that we were happy with the room but didn't like being shouted at. Of course this wasn't taken well at all. Eventually we just walked away from him as we were getting nowhere. I have worked in hospitality and customer facing jobs for years and couldn't believe his attitude towards guests at his hotel. He came to our room that night and insisted on giving our money back (I'm happy to have received a refund but the manner in which it was done was terrible, no sincere apology just more of the same casting blame for the problem with us). We were told we were 'too young to bother him' and that everyone else in his hotel was happy but us. Considering he is yelling at us in front of other guests I find it hard to believe they were particularly comfortable with the situation.

While Chris was definitely our main source of concern during our stay at MM Hill Hotel his wife was quite slow and reluctant to help as well. I would also point out that they advertise irresponsible tourism in the shape of elephant trekking, monkey shows, baby elephant shows, pictures with wild tigers etc. As a westerner Chris should certainly know better than to promote such cruelty to animals to his guests.

Would not stay here again and would recommend Chris rethinks his management style. Perhaps he needs to hire staff who are professionals so he can avoid the stress of running the business.

I stayed here one night because my other hotel was not available for my last night.
Standard rooms but extremely hard and uncomfortable bed. The curtains do not block the sun at all so I woke up much to early. The airconditioning struggles to make the room cool and in the shower it's a continued fight to try to adjust the temperature correctly.
Right in front of the hotel is a very busy road and there are lots of roosters and dogs that makes sounds at night in the close area so earplugs is needed to get some sleep.
The Thai lady in the reception is rude and impolite. In the morning I asked if they had breakfast she just nod and points across the room and I have to go look for the menu myself.
I find the menu and walk back to order, she look up and see me standing there but continues with what she was doing. Then another Thai lady comes and walks to the entrance door. She blows her nose outside in front of the door whips her nose with her fingers and walks back in. She walks up to the receptionist in front of me, says something and walks away. The receptionist looks up and answers her and see me standing there with the menu but again she continues with what she is doing.
I have now started thinking that maybe the other lady is making the breakfasts so I decide to go eat elsewhere.
BigC super mall is not very far away. Down the street and to the right. I will never stay here again!

Lovely boutique hotel in Chaweng / Bophut 5 minutes driving distance from the airport and 10 minutes from Chaweng beach, 3 minutes from the main road and Big C...

Well, obviously this place does not provide all facilities as it could be within a luxury 5* hotel. However, Chris and his lovely wife are always willing to make your stay unforgettable for an cheap and affordable price with a warm service. It will definitely become your second home. I went there several times and it is always great to be back...

This budget hotel has a small swimming pool with three sunbeds, cleaned on a daily basis, cosy open air lounge / reception / bar & restaurant.

The rooms are cleaned on a daily basis, just need to drop your room key in a basket at the reception whenever you want your room ready. I have tried both type of rooms, the superior one is obviously bigger than the new standard one and get more space and one balcony. The bed is really comfortable with fluffy mattress and pillows. No worries you will sleep tight and be ready to explore this gorgeous island every day!!! The rooms are obviously equipped with air con, hot water, tv and fridge.

Motorbike service is also available and Chris will definitely provide you a map and point out the best places around the island... Have a safe ride and drive safely !!!

Besides that, the staff is lovely, housekeeping very nice and efficient ...

So if you are seeking for a budget hotel with decent rooms, warm service and pool area, do not broaden your hotel search further and enjoyyyy your new home at MM Hill !!

Amazing value for money. Stayed there 5 nights, the family were great. Room lovely and clean. Mamas cooking was spot on. Moped hire, taxi service into Chewang on a night and airport drop off by the family also. Definitely recommend if you want somewhere quite but not to far from everything and I will be visiting again
