We stayed at Lub’d from 24th Dec to 1st Jan as a family of 4 (kids 14 and 11yrs old). We were fully prepared to expect lots of partying and drunk behaviour but we were pleasantly surprised as everyone was so polite and respectful.
The hostel itself is very clean and well maintained. The staff are lovely especially Goong and Deen who looked after us.
The breakfast up to 5pm was tasty and great for us as we struggled to get up before noon each day!
The swim up bar was more popular than the infinity pool by the beach, but the down side of both pools is that there were no steps into the pool - you had to climb in and out and it could get very slippery. Definitely a place for the younger and fitter person!
For the price, we found the hotel to be more then adequate, but were were spoilt because we had just stayed at the Shangri La where our bathroom was larger than the room we stayed in at Lub’d! Expect the room to be ‘compact’ but the shower was nice.
For people who may have complained about the pool being dirty, we witnessed that the pool cleaner was used every night to filter the water. I also witnessed them checking the pool chemicals each day.
There were quite a few kids running about, but I wouldn’t recommend it for children under 5 as there is no safe areas poolside.
The kids all enjoyed the games room which wasn’t especially busy. For the more young at heart, lots of pool parties and beer pong etc was encouraged but easy enough to not have to take part if you didn’t want to. This place is much better than the manically busy Ark bar as described by other people who had stayed at both places.
The hotel doesn’t allow you to charge anything to your room ( probably due to the type of clientele they attract) but you could put your card to open a tab to save you having to carry lots of cash.

I chose to stay at Lub D Koh Samui based on excellent traveller reviews - and they did not disappoint! I was very nervous as I had never stayed in a hostel dorm before but my worries were soon squashed! When I checked in, the receptionist said they would be able to move me if I was uncomfortable, which I really appreciated, but when I went to the dorm and immediately met my dorm mates I soon saw they were all friendly and kind and looked after me well! The hostel dorm had 8 beds and 8 lockers where you can padlock it to keep your things safe (you can even buy padlocks at reception). The resort has both mixed dorms and private rooms available. The entire resort was kept immaculately clean as well. They have excellent facilities that would suit young solo travelers or couples such as two gorgeous swimming pools, a bar and restaurant, air hockey table, pool tables, ping pong, bowls and even a swing (all very insta- worthy). Reception was extremely helpful - I hired a moped for 24 hours for 280 BAHT one day, and on another went on a snorkelling and island tour which included transport and dinner, where I, again, met some really lovely people. Staff were very attentive and spoke excellent English, they couldnt do enough for me. I got up to see the sunset on the Friday and, wow, was it worth it, the beach was almost deserted and the view was just.... magnificent!! There was different entertainment every night including a pub crawl, beer pong tournament, a live DJ (which really was excellent, fantastic party!) and a pool party and games. I could also see a free fire show on the beach which was an added bonus. Access to the beach is literally on the door step and there is a shower for coming back from the beach. Pool towels are available for free you just have to return them on the same day. My only complaint is that breakfast was a bit on the expensive side including a drink(>400 BAHT) and a bit cold, however the location is very central and you can easily walk around to cafes or the samui night market for cheap yet delicious Thai food. They also ran happy hour twice a day where you buy 2 drinks and get a third free. I'd thoroughly recommend this hostel/ hotel to a group of travellers, couples or solos who enjoy a bit of the party and the beach. Overall a truly fantastic stay and an incredible experience, thank you Lub D I will definitely be back! (Hope pictures give you a vague idea I'm not much of a photographer!)

Amazing beach front location and beautiful rooms, no free water refills, limited menu and not allowed to eat food in rooms or at the pool that is not bought there. Very social atmosphere and very clean bathrooms. Washing facilities are available, but expensive I think you could just get it done cheaper on the street

This is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at. All of the staff were so friendly, I liked talking to them every day. Because the staff are so kind and happy, ut makes the atmosphere of the hotel really good.
The food and drinks are great value for a beach club although I would really like more vegan options such as pasta, salads and soy milk for hot drinks. 😁 Really good that they use eco friendly straws :))
The hotel rooms are beautiful and the shared bathrooms have the best showers ever!
Music plays throughout the resort all the time which is nice and helps you to feel a beach club vibe. Nice places to relax on the beach and near the pool, even if it is raining.

We were here for 2 night and I must say that I was completed flattered with the dorm we had booked. One of the best dorms I have been to. The staff is quite good, welcoming and helpful. This property very well maintained with nice swimming pool, beach side bar and view. The dorms were nice and clean with quite good bunk beds with dedicated charging points, reading light, drawers, towel, blankets. There are no keys, it is all hi-tech with wrist bands based entry into the building and rooms. The travel desk is good and they help you book anything and everything in and around Koh Samui. They also have private rooms, they are also quite good. Also, this is situated in good locality. You will definitely enjoy your stay here in Lub d.

Travelled to Koh Samui with 2 friends and stayed here for 4 nights. Lovely hostel, clean and tidy rooms (our beds were made everyday which was a nice surprise). We didn’t stay in the hostel much for the parties or activities but it seemed great for socialising. There was always something going on downstairs. Location is right on the beach and there’s a lovely bar next door called the Elephant Beach Club which had a really nice ambience, food menu and they do fire shows most nights. There are washing and drying facilities in one of the blocks, 40 baht per machine for an hour. Food and drink choices are quite good.

Owned by Australians, run by mostly locals supervised by foreigners that decided to stay back and run this place. This is the perfect hostel, safe, clean and you will make great friends. Its a party hostel with amazing amenities for all ages, choose a private room if you want privacy. The staff is always smiling, polite and very helpful especially the guy manager in the mornings. My friend lost her phone and he helped me look everywhere for it. This is place to meet people, have a great night with them and then lounge with them at the several places nearby before heading back. The guys next door run a bar, take a walk and go there late night for a drink. Support them, ask for Joey and his brother lol ... there are 3 asian guys that run the bar and will order fried rice for very cheap for you.

I have stayed at this hotel many times and every time is as good as the first 😊. The staff are so friendly and willing to help with any questions. The rooms are very clean, tidy and beds very comfortable. There is a good smart tv in the bedroom which I found very useful as I have an android phone which means you sand use smart view to stream from phone to tv. The security at the front is always great if you when you arrive and makes sure you come out of the carpark safely to avoid any cars coming the others way. The staff members I have managed to get to know work in reception and I would like to say a massive big thank you for being so nice to me when I’m there and any questions I have when I send a message on Line. Nothing is too much for them. Their names are: Arm Luknam Makam (Bar & Restaurant) Koi Note
Also I had the pleasure of chatting with the new assistant manager Oliver who is from France.
I would highly recommend a stay here whilst in Samui as it is right on Chaweng beach, has a nice 10 meter pool and is a short walk to bars and restaurants such as Cafe Uno, The Islander, Duomo Italian and many more. The main shopping centre is only 5/10 min walk with lots of shops and a big Tops Supermarket.
I look forward to another trip in January.

We stayed in two different rooms, two nights in the room with balcony and one night without as we had an early flight that day. I would say there was no difference between the two room except one room has a very small balcony that you can stand on only. Two people cannot sit at the balcony at the same time. This is a hostel so many young people staying here and having a good time, the hostel holds an event every day. So if you want to meet other young travellers, would recommend but if you want to have a quite relaxing/ quality time with a partner there are better hotels there. Regardless the staff and the food served at the restaurant is great.
The location is so amazing, walking distance to the other bars and restaurants. Yes the water pressure for the shower is so good and the hot water lasts very long time.

I stayed at Lub D for 2 nights in August and it was nice! My visit was in the midst of covid so the whole island was pretty quiet (of course due to no fault of Lub D). I got a very good deal on my booking because of this so I am grateful! TV was a smart TV which made my stay and staff were helpful. Restaurant and bar were quite expensive for a hostel but decent for the area. Full price bookings at Lub D, however, are a little pricey considering its a hostel so I would consider other lodging options when I return to Samui one day.

For the time I was there it was safe and clean, but full of college age kids. If you book a full room to yourself (8 people), or get a private room then you won't have to worry about waking up to one of your bunk mates with a lady of the night.

I don’t think you’re allowed officially and you get a wrist band as well but there’s nothing stopping you trying! To be honest there are hardly any beds anyway by the pool.
The bar closes at midnight, as far as I remember also during the week. After that, it's generally very quiet. It's definitely not a family hotel though, 80% of guests are backpackers.

You wouldn't hear much music noise inside your room as we play music just till midnight. And we can do our best for loud neighbors around you room also if any:)
I think it’s a great place for all ages! I stayed in a dorm while I was here so I met mostly backpackers like myself, but when I was at the pool I saw a couple families with kids who seemed to be having a good time!
There are more places to choose from in the Chaweng area.
