The service here was great - the general manager JJ proactively seeks to improve guests’ stays. I’d recommend making a relationship with him if you can. The stay otherwise was solid, especially for the price ($2k Baht per night). Feels very couple/family oriented, so wasn’t ideal for me traveling solo.

We stayed here with 2 young kids in September 2023 & it was magnificent! We knew we wanted to stay in Chaweng Noi for a quieter location, but the hotel exceeded our expectations. We got a poolside cottage, with an extra bed for our child & a cot for our toddler. It was perfect. The room was small but it was still plenty of space for us & had a lovely warm feel to it. On the one day that it rained, we were happy to stay in, play games & enjoy the balcony view of the fresh monsoon shower. Being right next to the pool & a few metres from the beach & the restaurant was idyllic. The pool was a great size & had a few areas that the kids could play in. The beach here is pristine, with a calm sea. I also appreciate the eco-friendly approach to things like refilling the toiletries instead of going through hundreds of plastic bottles, & only replacing things when they needed to be replaced. However, the standout was the staff. Every one of them was wonderful. They welcomed our family & made an effort with our kids. From breakfast through to the evening, they were charming & always ready to help. I respect a business that treats its staff well, & the whole team seems to genuinely enjoy working at New Star, which makes me think it's a good hotel from the top down. We were long overdue a relaxing break & this was a superb holiday, in large part because of the hotel & the staff.

Stayed in New Star Beach Resort recently and totally had a great time there. The beach vibes here are fabulous, a perfect hotel to stay, and just laze around at the beach. The Chaweng Noi is a long stretch of soft sandy beach with really calm waters. We got the beach front villa, so convenient, open the door, and you are right on the beach. The villa is spacious, with a sitting area, bedroom area, varendah, and a huge bathroom with tub, an indoor shower as well as an outdoor shower. As for facilities, the hotel has a swimming pool, pool bar, buffet breakfast hall, and a lunch and dinner restaurant. They also have a fitness center and a game room. The staff is really friendly here and very attentive to your needs. If you have a late flight, you can check out of your room, and they do have a private shower where you can freshen up when you come by to collect your bags.

Well, I’ve read a recent negative review about New Star and all I can say is, I must have been staying in a different hotel. If you do any background reading about Koh Samui post covid, you’ll know many of the hotels and restaurants are still recovering. The team at New Star and quite simply brilliant. Led by the amazing Jay, everyone we met was just so lovely, kind and patient, from the moment of being picked up to taking the time to get to know us, chatting with our teenage son and his friend and looking after us, throughout our entire stay. Breakfast was very tasty a great variety of food choices, the food and cocktails in the beach side restaurant were also first class, not to mention the beach bar staff, who we all made friends with. The beach location of the hotel, is an excellent choice for those wanting a beautiful crystal clear waters with pure sand under foot. Our boys enjoyed the pools, gym, pool table, whist we spent a few afternoons, sitting in the warm sea and chatting. The villas were massive, so much space to enjoy and yes, some things are showing their age a little, but you’d have to be super fussy to miss the magic of this accommodation I spent several hours before coming to Koh Samui, trying to find a good location, that had a balance between peaceful retreat, activities for the family and a great spot to explore more of the island, New Star is set in a great position, far enough away from the younger partying crowds, but near enough to walk into town to enjoy some evening fun. Lots of restaurants within walking distance too. I would return without hesitation to this fabulous place, thank you so much to the entire team for making our stay so wonderful and making many happy memories for our family

This property is extremely run down and in a very shabby and unmaintained condition and doesn’t match the pictures on tripadvisor and other sites such as booking and expedia. We had a nightmare of a check-in experience - our room was dirty with dust on all surfaces, aircon and wifi not working and with bugs and mosquitoes in the room. The ladies at front desk were rude when we raised these issues, and only when we threatened to cancel our booking and leave the property, did they send down staff to fix the issues. The property does have potential but not well maintained - the lawns and gardens are dirty, the cement stairs have cracks and broken in lot of paces, beach towels are literally ragged and torn. The aircons minibar and other equipment provided in rooms had stains. The staff is the most discourteous and poorly trained that we have ever come across. when we asked for an item such as butter or water at breakfast we were met with “ you can go get it there” whereas if we accidentally walked two feet out with a glass they chased us down to get it. The only exception is Teng and his team at the bar, who were all very hospitable and also made great cocktails (long island icetea highly recommended) The only saving grace at this property is a decent sized pool and a lovely beach. We spent most of our time at the beach or outside the property during the day to minimise our use of services at the property to avoid further disappointment.

Overall we enjoyed our 4 nights at the New Star. The highlight was breakfast with an excellent range of both Thai and Western cuisine complemented by friendly and attentive staff. The swimming pool is quite large with varying depths and never crowded. The beach is kept clean with some shaded areas. Unfortunately our room revealed some examples of maintenance neglect. The room safe batteries had not been checked and had long died (hopefully painlessly). The hot water tempering valve needs replacing which is why the water temperature in the shower kept fluctuating between hot and cold. Separate information about what television channels (and languages) are available would be helpful. A desk lamp for working at night in an otherwise dimly-lit (albeit romantic) room would be useful. One air conditioning unit to cool the bedroom area does not reach other areas of the bungalow which can become quite hot (perhaps consider the addition of a fan in the bathroom). Daily housekeeping is inconsistent when providing a clean, complete set of towels, which then requires a call to reception (on more than one occasion) to rectify. We hope you find our review useful.

Stayed here for 5 days with my partner, everything was great, the room was incredible, so large to say we only booked a double deluxe was not expecting what we got!! and it was always kept clean. The breakfast which was included was very varied and always kept stocked up; we ate in the restaurant a couple of times and was great. The staff couldn’t do enough for you and all were very friendly- especially to mention Pex and Teng they made our stay! Location was great for the beach as right on the beach but easy to get a taxi to central samui on an evening. Thank you so much for making our stay and first time to Thailand a great one!

This resort has a variety of different rooms/villas to suit a range of wishes. The rooms are spacious, of a high standard and tastefully designed and decorated. One potential issue is that sound deadening in the apartment blocks is poor and if you're unfortunate to be placed next to noisy guests, it can spoil your peace. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Food served for breakfast, lunch and dinner is reasonably priced and of good quality. Toom in the chill bar makes an awesome lime margarita, the mai tai cocktail is also very good. The resort grounds occupy a large area and have a real sub-tropical feel with many sub-tropical shrubs and numerous palm and other sub-tropical trees. The resort is located on possibly the best part of Chaweng Noi beach. The resort has a large clean and well maintained swimming pool if the sea is not your thing or the waves are stronger than you feel safe with. The beach has a mixture of gritty and soft white sand, the sea is crystal clear with a fine white sandy bottom on days when there isn't too much wind blowing in from the gulf of Thailand, the waves can be powerful and rough when the wind blows anything above 10-15 mph. This resort will suit those looking for a peaceful quiet break, but bear in mind other guests who will share the public spaces may be rather loud, as was the case for a couple of days during our stay. In summary the resort will suit those looking for comfort and quality with some style without the somewhat over the top attention afforded by the high-end 5* alternatives.

Seeking respite from the pricing issues at the property next door we tip-toed across the sand a full 100 yards to the New Star. It had been shuttered when we stayed on this beach earlier this year but now open. Looks lovely... we only had time to avail ourselves of the beach restaurant next to the lovely looking pool but I had a terrific club sandwich and we also had drinks. I messed up completely on the pricing/bill of course... it is one of those lovely properties that quotes prices nett, not ++ which is the Devil's work. I failed to read the bill properly though so left with much of the egg of the club sandwich on my face rather than in my tummy. Definitely an option worth looking at and all the properties at Chaweng Noi look good.

Since more then 18months i try to get a solution for my booking which was a couple of days the corona pandemie starts...the hotel was closed and not possible the reach. Since that time we try to find a solution for our prepayment vacation with the hotel, but there is no response on that case. So if you want to have a safe booking so that you can be sure if something will happen you will get your money back, choose an other hotel!
