We had a short stay at Anantara Lawana as part of a mattress run in Koh Samui to compare & contrast various properties and better steer our future stays on the island. There are two Anantaras in Koh Samui and I picked Lawana because I thought there would be better potential for valuable upgrades as GHA Black guests than at the Bophut property which divides its room types in too many categories. Not only the upgrade turned out to be quite good at Lawana but other features of this hotel such as service and dining were strong points as well so I can recommend this hotel. When going to Koh Samui, Chaweng is the place to be. Anantara Lawana is not on Chaweng Beach but it could hardly be any closer. It is at the southern end of Nora Beach and Chaweng starts at the tip of the land where Nora Beach ends. I booked the Deluxe Plunge Pool room type which is one category above entry level and I received a 2-category upgrade as GHA Black guest to the Garden Pool Villa. The villa had traditional Thai design (like many Anantara properties) instead of generic look and feel of some other resorts. The room was not new and modern but I found the resort and the room to be well maintained and in good condition. The living room could be separated from the bedroom with doors but it was mostly for privacy because the wall panel did not extend all the way up to the cathedral ceilings. There was lots of outdoor space with a wooden patio around the private pool, some chairs were in the sun but there was also a covered seating area under the large sala. Both the toilet and the shower had a large window overlooking the pool area which provided great natural light inside the bathroom but because the vegetation at the end of the outdoor space was not as dense as it could be, people walking to their villa on the footpath could partially see us therefore it was better to draw the blinds down. There was also another shower outdoor which is a nice feature of tropical resorts; that shower was completely private. One evening we had the private beach dinner; the food during our dinner was good and service was excellent with various staff members stopping by to ensure we had a good time. Breakfast was also better than I expected at this hotel. They no longer have a buffet due to covid but the a la carte menu was excellent with delicious local options such as Kanom Jeen with crab. At Anantara Lawana guests can have a private butler, which is normally not found at hotels of this caliber; it contributed to Anantara punching above its weight in terms of service. Our butler visited us during our private dinner, also greeted us at breakfast, and proactively called Vana Belle (our next destination on our tour of Samui) on the day of our departure to find out at what time our room would be ready and she informed us during breakfast. It was clear that they tried to get ahead of guest needs and provided good service. Common areas of the hotel looked good including the pool near the beach and the bar as well, both providing nice views. For guests with young children they recently opened a kids’ club which had lots of quality wood toys (instead of cheap plastic), many of which were still in boxes and not unwrapped yet. Overall we enjoyed our stay at Anantara Lawana. The location, food, and quality of the villa were all satisfactory and the price tag was competitive with other (larger) hotel chains. The one drawback of Anantara is that most rooms / villas do not have sea views – for views then it is necessary to book the higher categories of rooms at a higher price. So for people who highly value views then there are probably other hotels which might be a better fit but for everything else Anantara is good value.…
I visited the Anantara Lawana Resort with friends for 3 days 2 nights and it was a wonderful weekend. We booked one-bedroom pool villa for two-villas. The villas are large and spacious with complete amenities. The pool is clean and private. Anantara Lawana’s staff made it excellent since we touched down at Samui airport and a very warm welcome, in keeping with the exceptional level of service provided by the hotel’s amazing staff. Special thanks to Ms. Pim, our villa host, greeting us at the airport and she was the most amazing host throughout our stay at Anantara. She quickly responded to our messages, determined to make me as comfortable as possible. She and her team provided us with everything during our stay, giving personalised service. Plus the whole staff have been very friendly and gentle. Besides that, we have used the services of the spa at Anantara Spa. Ms. Penne, Spa hostess, she was fun to chat and give great details of the service. I and my friend were very impressed. The massage here is very good, we feel very relaxed. I hope my comments this time will be a part of the encouragement to everyone at this hotel. Thank you for your care throughout the stay :)…
Sit down and grab a cup of coffee... because this is going to be a long read. My partner and I stayed at this stunning hotel at the start of February 2021. We'd heard of Anantara hotels before and passed this one a few times, but we were so happy to finally come and stay. When we arrived, the grounds themselves are absolutely gorgeous and you simple have to take some time out of your schedule just to check it out! It's a lovely mixture of clear crisp Chinese/Thai architecture and Thai jungle. This gives a sense of privacy, as there is nature obscuring the view from the rooms, so you never feel like you're out and exposed in the open - even when you are outside! We stayed in a Deluxe Plunge Pool room. Just as the name suggests, as soon as you step in the front door you're greeted by a private pool (with a swing, how cool!) as well as two comfy sun loungers. This is technically outside, but since there is a roof over the sun loungers, there is a fan in the ceiling, and you can stay outside here even when it's midday and very hot! Then there is the main door to get inside the room. Here you step straight inside to a huge bed, a mini bar (which at the moment is empty due to the new normal). However, there is still coffee and sugar, tea, etc (and a coffee machine with a variety of different coffee pods to try which are complimentary). There is also a desk area, and a sizeable closet. When you step into the bathroom you're greeted by numerous large mirrors, a private toilet around the corner, a rainfall shower around the other corner and a large double door that opens straight into the pool! We LOVED this place and it felt like home as soon as we arrived. The staff were amazing and we were showed around the grounds and told a bit more about the place whilst we were checking in. Turns out the whole place was fully refurbished about 2 years ago, and you can really tell. Everything is in the optimum location with a great size, everything makes sense and looks and feels brand new. We dined in the tree tops restaurant which is right on the grounds (we wrote a review on this experience on the Tree Tops tripadvisor page - it was amazing!!) We also walked around the grounds and checked out the beach bar, gym, as well as their Thai Boxing ring, which has a view over the shore! That is just stunning!). Everything in this place was down to a T. Nothing was missed out and the whole experience makes both myself and my partner want to go back asap. We enjoyed a floating breakfast the following morning, which was great as we had a private pool! It felt like such an amazing experience and add on to the whole stay. The breakfast was delicious and extremely aesthetically pleasing! It was perfect for a couple. The only thing I would have changed would be to stay longer because it was just so so lovely! If you are looking for a romantic get-away, look no further... this is IT!…
Nice location. Excellent services. I got upgraded to pool villa and it was superb experiences, Thank you to Front Office team and villa host, Khun Rainnie who made my stay memorable. It somewhat quiet during this pandemic and weekdays in Thailand but staff did really great job.
really nice. You spend quite some money here, and staff is trained to push you to this exercise but the service is in accordance. Unfortunaltely for us, weather conditions were bad. we had a first pool bedroom which was very dark. Should be careful as some bedrooms are quite far from everything..
