We spent three nights at the Marine de Loire in August as part of a cycling holiday week. The hotel staff couldn't have been more welcoming, helpful and friendly. They allowed us to check in early and recommended and booked restaurants for us (really useful as the town was busy and lots of places were booked up!). Our room was on two levels and was clean, airy, nicely decorated and cool with air conditioning (important this August!). The pool area and spa were both a lovely treat, and we made use of both! Breakfast was delicious and again the staff were really helpful, allowing us to have breakfast half an hour early on one day so we could get out on our bikes before it got too hot. Montsoreau was very pretty and we enjoyed it exploring, the only thing I would say is that the town seems to become quiet around 9pm and it would have been really nice if the hotel bar stayed open a bit later! But probably very good for our alcohol intake that it didn't! A really great hotel, thoroughly recommended and I hope we have a chance to come back. Thank you!

We had a very lovely holiday here in apartment 'Cyclades' as a family of two adults and two children (8/11), with grandparents staying next door in Belle Etoile. The area is spectacular, right on the edge of the Loire and in a charming town. The square is almost next door with a charcuterie, boulangerie, bars and restaurants and other amenities close by, and private parking across the road.
The apartment is lovely and decorated stylishly, but not anywhere near as bright as the pictures show - it is parallel to a 6ft wide 'corridor'/passageway so doesnt have any view as such. This makes the kitchen not a particularly nice place to sit, as its quite gloomy. Luckily the weather was great and we had dinner on outside tables in the passageway in the early evening. The kitchen in the Belle Etoile was a bit further towards the garden and a much more pleasant place to sit, and we would recommend that apartment instead of Cyclades..
The pool cabana is close by and so that was an option for sitting/relaxing as an external living room, we enjoyed the pool and spa (adults only) as a nice distraction.
Some (easily fixed) frustrations, meant constructively: The wifi was terrible - the router was obviously placed out in the corridor somewhere, so if its raining and kids need their screens or you need to do some work/watch a film, forget it - but would have easily been fixed with some cheap boosters by the owners. The apartment did often smell of bad drains, and the fridge had no freezer compartment and so ice and frozen food was not an option. The staff did helpfully provide ice in the evenings though. There was also no cooker (just a hob and microwave) and so self-catered food options were limited. There was an amusing confusion about portable bbqs, having been advised by a member of staff that we should go to the banks of the Loire to then find out its a fineable offence!
Overall the 'quirks' were minor as we were able to spend most of the time outside, in the pool or exploring, but in shoulder seasons if we were to spend more time inside, these frustrations would have become real issues.
The staff were friendly, and ultimately we had a great time. The Dentelliere, Montsorelli (amazing terrace view), Diane de Meridor restaurants highly recommended, and the 21-wine tasting cave at the marché des vins de loire was great fun.

We spent two nights here on our cycling tour of the Loire with our two children. Perfect suite where they had twin beds in a separate room. Plus they loved the pool after a day's cycling. The staff were super accommodating, providing dinner in the garden when all the local restaurants were booked up. Would love to return.

Booked this hotel through a booking agent on the premise of free cancellation. The hotel took a 600 EURO deposit in advance. Due to France quarantine restrictions, we had to cancel the booking. The hotel did not refund the deposit. On communicating with them, they said that we would be given a voucher to use in 18 months. This is absolutely not the terms of my booking. I complained to the hotel and the booking agent, but still no refund nearly one month later. Disgusting. Legal action will follow.

The photos of Belle Etoile on the website are very misleading. This is one of four self catering apartments adjacent to the hotel and is certainly not 4 star accommodation. Belle Etoile is a duplex and downstairs is dark and dreary with two single beds (one of which is under the staircase) where there should be proper lounge seating. The dining table is crammed into the kitchen area leaving barely any room for movement. Glass panes were cracked and some lights not working. After promising they would move us to another apartment, a member of staff then back-tracked and became rather defensive. He seemed more concerned that I would write a comment on Trip Advisor than actually trying to address our concerns. We were so disappointed that we barely spent any time there - we had booked 7 nights.

An exceptional place inside and out! I had the chance to spend a weekend with friends and another with family in this hotel. It's a jewel in a box. The setting is exceptional: view of the Loire, charming hotel with only a dozen rooms. The staff takes great care. We checked into this hotel in September right on the banks of the Loire in Monstoreau. We were warmly welcomed by Victor and allocated a beautiful room to the front of the house and overlooking the river. We worried as this was on the road it would be noisy but it was peaceful with excellent glazing and we slept peacefully in a beautifully comfortable bed. The bathroom with separate toilet was big, plenty of space for everything. Breakfast was plentiful, and delicious, they do not have a restaurant, but there are a number in the surrounding area which are listed in the room. Their Wellness area is here is one the best I’ve ever experienced, the calmness of the Hammam, indoor pool/jacuzzi, sauna and steam room just made a calm day even more calm. Outside the wellness area are lovely gardens for a glass of wine, cup of tea/coffee in complete peace. We wanted to stay another night but, alas there was no room!! There was a festival in Saumur just a few kilometres away and it was such fun, tasty nibbles and wine-tasting + crafts and even choirs, not to mention boat trips on the traditional boats of the area. An excellent market took place in the village square on the Saturday. I could count on the fingers of one hand the amount of hotels to which I would return in France and this is one of them….we look forward to visiting again. Thank you to the whole team for the welcome and friendliness. We arrived as guests and we left as friends.

This hotel is in a very beautiful location but sadly, tired and dated. The spa area was rather good but there seemed to be an absence of staff there. A warning, we had booked a suite which turned out to be on two floors and rather difficult to manage if you aren’t good with stairs. The furniture and curtains were old and the carpets looked dirty. The bathroom had a very narrow bath/shower, no slip mats or grab handles. The room rate is very expensive for what you get, ‘certainly’ not value for money. I would not recommend this hotel.

.More than two months prior to our trip (when booking), the same amount was deducted from our account twice. Not just the deposit. The apartment we had booked was far from the expected standard. Very dark, no real cupboards, no water pressure in the bath and no sink in the toilet. There was absolutely no wifi and 3-5 g didn't work. We had booked an apartment with a washing machine but there was no place to hang laundry. We were told we could get a rack to hang laundry the next day, but it never came. A few days later the owner explained to us in a degrading way that her hotel was not an Air b'n'b and it was not appropriate for her hotel to have laundry racks standing. We just wanted to stay in our room. Didn't understand why there was a machine at all? We were offered to borrow the hotel's dryer, but all the clothes were not suitable for that. We were allocated a second apartment and a massage as compensation for the first night. The new apartment was significantly better, but the wifi was unstable. Some days you couldn't even make a phone call.
On departure, the receptionist notices that we have already paid for the stay, but that it is a mistake and we have paid too much. We never receive the amount the hotel owes (approx. 150 euros). Instead, we are told that it is the receptionist who does not know how to use the systems properly. That the hotel has mistakenly deducted the amount 2 months earlier is explained away. Among other things. that it should sack breakfast - we have not ordered breakfast, have not been informed about it and have not once eaten at the hotel. Rarely have I experienced such rude correspondence and unsophisticated business methods. Be careful when giving your credit card information. Can't recommend this place to other families.

Excellent hotel in the beautiful town of Montsoreau. Stayed 5 nights in 3 different apartments (for reasons not the fault of the hotel): each one has its own signature decor which we loved. Well-provisioned kitchenettes, beautiful bathrooms and very comfy king-size beds. Staff are consummate professionals and Caroline, the owner, went above and beyond to resolve an issue due to the bakery next door. She is amazing! Pool and garden is fabulous - perfect spot to relax and cool down after sightseeing. Cannot recommend this charming hotel (or its staff) highly enough.
