Was recommended this site by a few fellow Eriba owners, but this trip rented a premium cottage as some friends came with myself and my mother.
After a 13 hour drive we arrived well past the reception closing time but arrangements had been made to collect the keys etc from the bar. Despite them being run off their feet they assisted with our arrival with no fuss, which was great after such a long trip.
The cottage was just right sized for a 6 night stay for 4 adults with a lovely outdoor terrace with table and chairs as well as two loungers. The mother and I had the twin room, which was large and had an ingenious wardrobe! The beds were small and hard but to be fair I’m used to a king size tempur! Having separate shower rooms was a bonus, despite them being small they were well equipped.
We brought our own sheets and bathroom linen as these are not provided.
One small faff was the requirement to check an inventory of all the equipment supplied and return this to reception for them to check on our departure. We were slightly paranoid we were going to be charged from the €200 deposit for already missing items (subsequently discovering on return to the UK there was no need to be paranoid)!
The cottage was clean on arrival bar something sticky spilled on outside table, quick wipe and all sorted though!
Lovely location close to great Boulanger/patisserie, great food market on Sundays and a tonne of chateaus and wine caves to visit with a couple of hours drive.
The staff were very friendly and seemed to work incredibly hard, both the bar and restaurant full all week. Please note that you need to book for restaurant despite us being out of high season. Food was ok, nothing special but good for campsite. Wine selection was fantastic, I suspect we worked out way through all of those on offer and not a bad bottle had all week.
This is where is all went a bit pea shaped for us. Having arrived so late on the first night, we were not aware of the 10pm quiet time, which should actually be called silent time we discovered! A complaint was made as we were sat outside on terrace with a few bottle of wine until 1230 (complaining persons said it was 2am but was not)! Had we known this was a rule we would it have booked, as we like to be out all day and relax into the night with a couple of bottles of wine. So if you like to go to bed at 10pm and like quiet nights, it’s perfect.
All in it was a great stay. When I’m older and less into chatting with friends late in to the night I may return, until then Ill continue with sites with later / no curfew.

We arrived at this site in late August and it was still quite full. The owner of the site has thoughtfully considered all types of camping and if you are a cyclist then the camping pods designated for cyclist or hikers are superb. This site is conveniently situated close to Montsoreau and other villages which are easy to walk or cycle too. The site is clean and well run and whilst I was collecting my bread and croissants at the bar in the morning I noticed some people enjoying their purchased breakfasts provided by the owner. This consisted of bread, croissants jam coffee fruit juice etc it looked lovely! All in all a great site to stay right next to the Loire. Tip : try to avoid the narrow bridge near the site as there is a more suitable and direct route from Saumur however the bridge is passable with care.

We enjoyed our stay at the campsite. The facilities were very good and it is in a perfect spot for visiting the surrounding area. We came away saying that we would definitely book again for next year. However on the drive back to catch the ferry we were shocked to be told that 70 euros had been taken from our deposit as we had left the accommodation in an unclean state! When we asked for details, we were sent photos of someone else's accommodation. When we pointed this out we were sent more pictures of our place but it certainly didn't look as we had left it and were told they would still charge us 70 euros! We were travelling with 3 other groups and surprise surprise every group was charged exactly 70 euros too! We had to leave early in the morning to catch the ferry so were unable to be there when our rooms were checked. So, be warned, do insist that you are around when your place is checked.

Response from Isle Verte, Propriétaire at Camping l'Isle Verte

Hello, Thanks for your stay. The first time there was confusion between 2 files. But then you received photos of your accommodation, which wasn't clean, whereas on your booking and your inventory of fixtures it was stated that you had to return the accommodation in a perfectly clean state. We won't go into the details here, but a cleaning charge of €70 was compulsory. You will know for the next stay...

Disappointed. Not a cheap campsite so expected reasonable standards.
Showers were cold and facilities not particularly clean.
We tried on three occasions to make use of the tennis courts but were unable to despite the fact they were not being used by anyone else.
Campsite manager didn’t seem particularly receptive or helpful regarding these issues.
Also very expensive for a dog to stay considering there are no facilities provided for them to use.

The campsite managed to satisfy our request for a quiet location away from the games, swimming pool and bar/restaurant area despite our late reservation.
The location was shady which might have been good if the sun had come out.
On the other hand, watch out for the nests of pigeons that have taken up residence in the magnificent plane tree, they generously water what is underneath with their droppings (tent, car, ground, etc.), you have to be careful when eating outside or letting the material dry. laundry, and check your soles before going inside since the absence of grass and rainy weather don't go well together. Damage!

Had such a lovely 2 weeks. Family of 4 (14 and 17), from UK, really easy journey from Calais (about 5.5 hours on motorways). Stayed in a 3 bedroom mobile home. Immaculately clean, very well equipped (big casserole pan, large frying pans, lots of crockery, service dishes etc - don't need to bring anything). Part covered large veranda, with table for 6 and 2 deckchairs - it was super hot the time we were there. The site is small, but all you need - small swimming pool, 2 x tennis courts, table tennis table, small play area, 2 x trampolines, outdoor gym equipment, petanque courts. It is right on the river Loire with a long cycle path running alongside. Beautiful scenery everwhere you turn in the area! Decent restaurant on site, we enjoyed a very good meal, but didn't return as the menu didn't change, which limited our vegetarian daughter's choices! Takeaway serves good quality pizzas, focaccia and chips - ice creams and good selection of drinks at bar - good selection of wines from local winemakers (which are everywhere in the area - vineyards as far as the eye can see)!. Great location next to 2 small villages, between 2 lovely towns - Saumur and Chinon. Great cycling routes, we enjoyed paddle boarding, canoeing, cycling, hiking plus mooching round local markets, eating out at fabulous restaurants, wine tasting, art galleries etc. Loads to do in the area, we didn't drive more than 20-30 minutes. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Thanks so much - highly recommend.

We arrived at 11:45 to book in with our motorhome and were told by a very unfriendly receptionist to go away until 2:00pm. We have never before had this problem in France in ten years of holidays so were very surprised. We came back at 2:15 pm to find absolute chaos, a large number of caravans and motorhomes trying to book in. Not enough space for them made very difficult by trying to manoeuvre around other units backing onto a busy main road. This was made much much worse by an island of camping site flags in the worse place possible.
The pitch by the river was lovely but we did not feel welcome.
I went to the toilet block at seven, it was not closed but the cleaner was very annoyed that I was there, she stood outside my cubicle and glared at me as I came out. Later I did some clothes washing, she followed me in and started cleaning around me, very odd!!
The hose on the fresh water motorhome filling site was so short it wasn't possible to fill up without causing a queue so we gave up and left to go on to Chateau de la Rolandière where we were made very, very welcome even though we were early!
Such a shame as it was a beautiful town with good restaurants but would not recommend the site.

Lovely site near the village and next to the river. We came here in the 80’s and were delighted to see the new pool and improved shower block. Reception staff were friendly. A few gripes. When I tried to order a glass of wine from the restaurant, the busy waitress totally ignored me as I stood at the bar for a full ten minutes and then tried to serve someone an icecream ahead of me. Then was surly when I complained.
Also the reflex barriers prevent cars coming in unless you purchase a key (this deposit refundable). I understand this after 10 pm but it was all day and inconvenient.
Greenery could be improved as the lights from a nearby caravan were intrusive.
But we had a very happy stay.

A very pleasant team, in a magnificent location on the banks of the Loire. Very well equipped and clean bungalow to fully enjoy your family vacation, in a quiet environment. Heated swimming pool to delight everyone, and restaurant which offers very affordable menus with local products in a very friendly atmosphere.

L'Isle Verte is a friendly site in a great location on the banks of the Loire. The site is reasonably compact, but pitch size are good and there are good facilities onsite, including a swimming pool, tennis courts, table tennis and boules. The site is within walking distance of local shops, a chateau and troglodyte caves. Other local villages are within cycling distance and there is a cycle path next to the site. The toilet and shower facilities were acceptable and kept clean.

The only issues we had were that the Motorhome service point was too small and difficult to access for our motorhome. We instead used the service point at the aire a short distance away in Turquant.

It's also worth noting that our motorhome Sat Nav (Garmin Camper) had the road (D947) from Saumur to the site listed as weight restricted, which they are not. This resulted in it attempting to send us over the very narrow bridge near to the site. Fortunately, others had recommended against using this bridge and we ignored the Sat Nav.

Overall, we had a nice stay and would definitely return to the site and this area.
