This is a beautiful hotel with great facilities in an amazing location. There are a number of room options, including the main chateau and the annex, where we stayed. We had a family room which consisted of two bedrooms with double beds and a very large, modern bathroom , as well as a sitting area off of one bedroom. Very...

We arrived one evening about 8.30pm with no reservation and were "greeted" by a teenage girl who was on the seat of a bike being pedaled by a younger boy up the main drive-way. What a lovely smile she had as she went to try and find someone to help us. In these few moments my wife had fallen in...

I spent a week here with my family (wife and two kids, 6 and 8) during our stay in the Dordogne. This was a terrific hotel in a great location, with the amenities we needed, operated by helpful, friendly staff. A special thank-you to Chrystelle who was exceptionally helpful and accomodating during our stay, providing a warm greeting, directions and...

While the property is very beautiful, there are three important factors that you should be aware of: No air-conditioner No elevator Non refundable We booked a privilege room for July 22 and 23, 2013. When we got to the Chateau as son as we entered, the heat hit us... Like going inside a pizza oven. The temperature was 37 Centigrade!...

Dear Rebecca D. We are so sorry to read your message and to see that our hotel did not meet your expectations. Indeed July has been much warmer than usual. The climate here doesn't usually require air conditioning. The temperatures we've had this July are exceptional in the Dordogne area, and according the METEO FRANCE, it has been the 3rd...

We stayed three nights in this lovely chateau with its gorgeous setting and friendly staff. We enjoyed the pool at the end of hot afternoons, and the breakfasts and dinners were superb. The only disappointment was the level of traffic noise, especially early in the morning

WE spent 6 weeks in France and this was one of the best places we stayed. Beautiful grand old building in a commanding position with lovely outlook, in one of the most beautiful and interesting parts of the country. Lovely warm greeting on arrival from Chrystalle who came out to meet us, and the other staff were equally friendly and...

Although this hotel is much smaller than the "Downton Abbey" of television fame, I often felt like an aristocrat on our four-day stay. That's because the hotel is very stately, has a grand staircase, a ballroom, and two towers. The appearance and setting makes you feel like you are pulling up to rub elbows with the 1%. Our room was...

We have travelled a lot through France and have mostly been disappointed with the Chateaus we have stayed in but we really found a gem here. Dear Lois D, Many thanks for your warm comment on our property. Indeed, it is a family run business, and we welcome our guests as if they were members of our family, our house is also theirs during their stay. We would be more than pleased to welcome you again next year at Monrecour.

As we were having difficulties finding hotels on our travels, we booked on-line a few days previous and were pleasantly surprised as we approached this beautiful chateau. As the Chateau is NOT on GPS, Stephanie was very helpful providing us with driving instructions! The good: As expressed in other reviews, this Chateau is charming. We stayed in the annex for...
