I travelled Hokkaido just a few weeks ago for 9 days, and I must say that among all hotels I've stayed in (and I went from Hakodate to as far as Abashiri), this was the best accommodation I've had!

Furano was an easy favorite, and this quaint, cozy hotel even made it more appealing to me. Their shuttle service is for FREE, operating until 6 PM. It can pick you up to and from JR Furano Station, then bring you to Ningle Terrace and back, and I guess even the supermarket. In any case, the location is great as it is a few steps away from the Kitanomine Gondola bus stop / Furano Snow School and very near a lot of food options, which is real great if the temperature goes negative. (At that one night I stayed there, it went as low as -20 in the morning, but still, a lot of food options are available.) The staff are very warm and friendly, and they even drive you themselves to wherever you want to go, as long as it is before 6 PM. A lot of them can speak good English too. The room was very comfortable and spacious for one, free breakfast was great, AND, it had an ONSEN facility, which was really awesome after a half day of body ache from skiing and double digit negative weather. :) All of that in the most competitive price for a night's stay in Hokkaido, at the peak of winter. I will definitely recommend this to my friends and family!

Highest praise to this inn’s fantastic staff, specially Carla, Sigi, Yuki, and Amana! They went out of their way to make our stay pleasant: booking cabs, helping us book a bus tour (Japanese only website), and always accommodating. Their English was very good, so communicating was easy. Thank you!

This is not a hotel: it is an inn, and the room is more a bedroom in a house, but charming. Breakfast is good, with the main course plated; no choices (so don’t expect a buffet). What was a nice surprise was a daily late afternoon cocktails (they call it “welcome drinks”) which lasts until late in evening, and includes whisky, wines, juice, and yogurt milk. And daily free coffee (espresso type) which was particularly good!

The free shuttle pick up and drop off when you check in and check out is very useful, and saves you the price of 2 cab rides (approx US$22). Be warned on Furano Station: no elevator, so you need to climb up then down steep stairs to get to the platform! Not easy with big luggages!

Negatives: while room was charming and large by Japan standards, the bathroom was tiny, so if you are a plus size, you bathe with your body hitting the shower curtain or wall.

Location is far from everything, so you need to take cabs all the time, with each 1-way trip to the town center costing approx. US$9-10. Nearest convenience store is maybe 15mins away, and an uphill climb back.

The onsen (traditional Japanese bath) is an artificial hot springs, but a pleasant experience.

A charming town, and I would consider going back to this inn if I go back to Furano.

Chalet Burlap Furania is a quaint, colonial style lodging at Furano. The location is on a quiet street and pretty convenient if one has a car. They also have free parking right next to the Chalet. The rooms are clean and spacious and they have an onsen at the chalet (though not natural). The service is extremely professional and warm with smooth check in and check out.
The gentleman on the front desk was extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast is decent with a few vegetarian options if needed. The chalet hosts a mixed crowd from many nationalities. Overall it was a fantastic find and value for money.
PS: Complimentary welcome drinks on check in with the choice of wine, whiskey and some non alcoholic beverages as well.

Adrian and his team are so friendly and welcoming, it feels like a home from home. I don't normally write reviews, but my family really enjoyed our stay here. The welcome drink was a lovely touch and nothing was too much trouble. We also enjoyed the onsen after a long day of skiing. Breakfast was made with local veggies and very tasty. We would definitely stay again.

We had an excellent stay at this pension. The staff were great. The room was great. The breakfast was great. The bath (onsen) was great. It’s a five minute walk to the Kitamone skiing zone. There’s also very good wifi and free parking. The front desk staff speak good English. Would definitely stay here again. Apparently ownership has changed.

We book a room with 3 bedroom. The room style is a little old fashion. The bathroom is small but clean. What I like most is their service. He suggest where we should do for the day and try to call the location if the farm is open. Even if they are under-staff, he even carry the luggage for us when we check-out. They also have a common room for children to play video games, and piano.

Friendly and helpful staff. We booked two different rooms for our stay and our room was on the first floor. There are no lift, but they did helped us to carry our bags to the first floor. Ample parking space across the street, beside the chalet. There is a common area to hangout, and free drinks (self service) during the evening. Breakfast portion was huge and delicious.

Service was excellent, especially Adrian who would go out of the way to help with a smile. When we were there, we realised that hotel was very shorthanded. Adrian was the receptionist, the chauffeur, the cook but he always serve with a smile. We needed confirmation with a tour at our next Destination. He helped to call the tour operator and when he couldnt reach them he checked their website for the information we required.

The onsen was good not overly crowded. There was also washing machine and dryer. The only reason I did not give a 5 star was because the hotel was quite dated and the bathroom is extremely small. If you flush the toilet beware of the shower becoming very hot suddenly.

Other than that I would not mind staying here again.

This place is really quaint and cosy and has a very nice atmosphere. The service was great and we loved the common area, where you could just chill, play the guitar/piano, some board games when you are relaxing indoors . we had taken the family room which was bigger and neat and clean. Tip: dont forget to try their welcome drink : Japanese plum wine

The building was old and slightly run down, but it still preserved the kind of vibe that is given off by a cosy accommodation. There were different game consoles in the hotel lobby that you could use, and there were also drinks(Barley tea, Plum wine and whiskey). The parking is free. The rooms are typical 10-tatami rooms and were cosy. The in room wifi services were very good. Would stay here again.
