They had both western and Japanese style rooms available with shared Japanese style bathroom showers and western toilets. We didn’t get a bath towel but there were toiletries available in the bathroom (shampoo & shower gel). There were shared fridges and microwave. Sadly no common room or lounge area but some of the bedrooms did have a sofa. 5 min walk to the ski lift and restaurants within walking distance. Clean and comfortable, would stay again.

Stayed here for 3 nights, the Japanese style room with shared bathroom. We are not picky with rooms selection but due to last minute booking, we chose this as our "best" selection. We thought how wrong could a common bathroom go? Turns out only thing we were not pleased with this place was the bathroom! The female bathroom was a common bath, inside there's only 4 chairs to wash yourself and a medium sized hot tub for you to dip in after washing yourself. Good thing is that we get to lock the door when bathing so that nobody can come in to shower together with us. But there's this night when we clearly locked the bathroom, someone even managed to come in, so...imagine if there's a mad guy that decided to walk into the female bathroom...you know what will happen :) . Oh there's benches for you to sit outside if there's someone in the bathroom! I saw a really huge spider walking into the garage nearby (Never have a seen such a huge one really).. And lastly, my sis usually bathes in the morning so the first morning like reallly early, she went in, the lights were half switched on and it was really eerie and we couldn't find the switch anywhere, my sis eventually concluded to bath at night instead.. ANYWAYS besides that, we are fine with sleeping on tatami mats. First night we did not know it will get so chilly at night so we opened all the windows and it turns out to be so freezing cold! The walk from Pension Young House to 7 Eleven was like a 10minute walk but it was breezy for us and a great morning walk, what i liked the most. The inn provides brochures for you to check out for places to have your food. The bus stop is nearby, but we did not get to use it because we rented a car. And just nearby, i can see the ski lift. It didn't opened until we left the next day...talk about good timing huh. Overall it was all good. All except for the bath...

Stayed eight nights (room with two single beds, tv and kettle). Shared bathroom/toilet nearby as were the shared fridge/freezer and microwave. Located on the bottom level - shower/onsen, laundry facilities and drying room/ski storage room. This place had everything without the gloss. I’ve been to Furano on two previous occasions and stayed at the premium end with family. This time however I had 1 week to get arrangements in place after agreeing with friends to join them for a week in Furano. I must admit I did have doubts however they were cast aside as soon as I arrived at Pension Young House. I have nothing but praise for what they do well, which is providing simple accommodation at a great location. A short walk to the 24 hr 7ELEVEN, surrounded by restaurants, cafes, local bus stops nearby and the Kitanomine chair lift a short ski/walk away make this an enviable location. It’s your choice. I’m glad I made it mine for this trip.

Pros: Close to ski fields, Cheapish, Clean, nice lady who did cleaning
Cons: Generally, a very unpleasant place to stay, everything is worn and old with no attempt at rejuvenation, very bare and drab -no personal touches.
No public area to sit and chat. No cooking facilities.
Unlike most other pensions, hostels & ryokans the owner is unpleasant and non-communicative and unhelpful
Very little room to put clothes etc.
The is no public lounge area to sit and talk to other guests
Female Onsen is very small. Onsen hours are very limited.
Beds are very uncomfortable with wires sticking out of the mattress
Guest toilets have unpleasant smell. No handwash supplied.
Stairs to the guest rooms are very slippery and dangerous- I fell down causing severe bruising and pain for several days. Another guest told me he fell down the day before, and yet another guest had fallen down on a previous visit.
A metal lip is needed on each stair to stop falls on this highly polished and very slippery staircase.
One hand railing was missing the day of my fell – I tried to talk to the owner and his comment was ‘be more careful’. No compassion for the week of pain and poor sleep due to my severe bruising – thanks for the worst skiing trip ever Pension Young House.
There are much better options in Furano.

THE best location. Chairlift across the road and ski across road to door (done, but not advisable). Welcoming hosts (including Tomba in the kennel) who bent over backwards to help when their guest was injured. Spotlessly clean and cosy.

Stayed in Pension Young House 2 nights February 2017. The pension is basic a little dull but on the up side it has a great location. Owner/manager is helpful to a point but not so warm and friendly. There is no lounge or common area to socialise in so you typically end up in your room. The bath area is in the basement and is a Japanese style sit at showers and large bath. Okay for short term stay but long term might be boring.

We stayed in the private room for four for a night. This is peak lavender season and every hotel I looked into in Furano was sold out. We decided to stay here as it was the only available option. This is very basic/ hostel-ish stay. Fortunately we had a room for 20000yen a night so we're not expecting anything fancy.
It's a straight forward inn, check in at 2.30 pm, leave your bags at the door if you are early, pay on arrival. Shoes need to be left at the door. Don't expect to get concierge assistance.
At checkin you are shown the toilets and showers. showers are "public bath" style , the ladies section had 4 shower heads with a little onsen bath, so yes you shower with others at the same time. Men's section had 3 shower heads and onsen. The changing area is outside. People come in and leave depending on availability so don't expect this to be a private bath even if you close the door. Pls note this is a very typical Japanese pension and if you have an issue with this then this place is not for you. The area is a lil run down and tired looking but again is very clean and no rubbish lying around.
Shower times are strict from 6am to 730am in the morning and 3pm to 10.30 pm at night. Yes water is nice and hot.
They supply shower gel and shampoo, but recommend you MUST bring all your toiletries with you. Most importantly they give you a "hand towel" for showers so you MUST carry your own bath towels. They also give you toothpaste and tooth brush but again you MUST carry your own.
This pension doesn't claim to be fancy and is very humble, clean and modest. It's conveniently located about 30-40 mins if you walk from Furano station depending on your walking pace. Take a taxi or bus depending on your budget , luggage.
The inn is also popular during skiing season and across a rope way so if you are here for winter then this can be an option.
We saw a microwave, refrigerator in the common area so I believe this was for shared used.
Toilets are located on all floors separate for men and women, again they were clean and basic with soap, toilet paper and garbage bins.
We were here for a night and didn't have any other hotels available at the time, so yes this was the best we could do, I recommend this place if you are looking for decent cheap accommodation.

Stayed at Pension Young House for 2 weeks Jan 2016 with my partner for a ski trip. Location was perfect - opposite lift ticket kiosk and lifts in Kitanomine ski area. Easy walk down to 7-11 which has an ATM facility and lots of great pre-prepared meals including salads and yummy desserts to take back to accommodation for meals when you dont have the energy to eat out, and plenty of cute little restaurants to choose from or further down in Furano main village there is heaps of options. Husband and wife team operate the pension and they are both helpful and made our stay pleasant. Mr Young House booked us taxis for local use and also booked us taxis for trips to other resorts about 2 hours away with no bother at all. Our room was ample with twin beds, couch, coffee table, tea/coffee making facilities, bench space etc clean and neat as a pin. Ski room was also good. Share Bathroom and toilet facilities were excellent. You can watch night skiing from pension's upstairs windows - its that close! There is share fridges/freezer upstairs where the guest rooms are as well as share microwave which was great for those days when we were too tired after skiing to eat out. There are larger supermarkets in Furano with cheap clothing department as well. Cost around Y1,000 for a cab down to Furano (main town area). We walked and it was fun to do. Very happy we stayed at Pension Young House!

We stayed 9 nights in January at Pension Young House. The pension is in a great location right across the street from the Kitanomine ski area. We stayed in the Japanese style room with shared bathroom. We slept on futons on the tatami floor. They were a little hard but still comfy and the heater kept the room very cozy. The room, bathrooms and pension was very tidy, they changed the sheets once during visit but the room was cleaned each day. There is a bathroom on the same floor as the rooms that is open all night and the showers and Japanese style hottub/bathtub is downstairs and open from 6-7:30am and 3-10:30pm, which was not an issue for us. The bath is great after a long day of snowboarding!

The only draw back of the hotel is there is no where to cook breakfast except a microwave, and that smoking is allowed downstairs in the lobby so if you are not a smoker it's kinda annoying.

If you have long hair bringing your own hair dryer is recommended :)

Rooms are very small, just big enough for beds and a bag.

Good sento, clean and hot.

Mattresses very old, they need replacing, it was not comfortable to sleep there.

Booking sites show dining area for the guests, this was closed.

It is basic, and OK, but don't expect much.
