The house is in a quiet neighborhood walking distance to one side of the ski area and a bus stop that takes you to the other side. The staff / family were perfect hosts - helpful, considerate, kind. Examples: they made us all special breakfast on Christmas morning, they treat their cats with love, it was snowing heavily on our departure day and they drove us to the bus stop with out bags. There are only a few restaurants in the area and you should check opening times and make reservations just to be safe. We love to walk and went several times to town easily. Pro tip: get the cheesecake at Furano Delice down the street!

First, the pictures attached are a little older and this Japanese B&B has been remodeled. While the location is not right across the street from the slope, it is a short walk (a little up hill, but easy) to the ski area. I liked that it was remodeled, brand new really and the other thing that was nice is I felt the room was a nice size. Normally in Japan, you get two beds and a small bathroom. My room had a nice little area for luggage, hanging clothes and things. So for me, this place was rather large. The staff (which probably is the owner) was very helpful and nice. The dry room and ski area was very nice and convenient. While I only stayed one night, I really liked the atmosphere. Breakfast was good too. I have had better at other Japanese B&B, but this was just great.

The pension is clean, tidy and very friendly staff. The facilities are modern and the bathroom shower just perfect. Very cute shower cubicle. The staff were incredibly helpful in every way and even dropped my son and me back up to the bus stop on our final morning. In the lounge is a massage chair and foot massager, fireplace and the lounge is very cosy and nice to sit and relax. They have a coffee machine for guests to have at any time (no cafe latte function though). the breakfasts are fantastic and the kitchen ladies so friendly.

The 4 resident cats is a nice touch and one is particularly friendly.

Cons: very few!
Tiny bar fridge in the room, can’t stand a 600ml-1L size bottle, yet there is room for a normal size bar fridge. In the common lounge are glasses, water fountain, kettle, coffee machine, tiny milk pods, tea bags - enough to sit and relax and enjoy. However there are no plates or cutlery (chopsticks present) so when you get take away or re heat 7/11 foods, you have to ask for stuff, but they are very obliging.

Two families travelled to Furano for a snowboarding adventure. 4adults 2x13yr olds 1x17yr old.
Pension Lavender is amazing. Very clean private rooms with en suites. A cosy inviting common room complete with pot belly stove, massage chairs and resident cats. Breakfast each morning was delicious. The kitchen ladies were friendly and accommodating.

The office manager/driver/restaurant booker was easy going friendly patient and often went above and beyond his roll.

The location is also fantastic. The pension is centrally located in a quiet residential area. It’s about 6min walk to the bottom of the gondola.

I completely and unreservedly recommend Pension Lavender. I will absolutely stay here again when we return to Furano.

We stayed here while skiing furano and its a good option. The place is run by a very kindly lady who understands little English but much more about the needs of skiers. She has comfy beds, a drying room and a ski room, a couple of different living rooms to hang out in, and its very close to the mountain. Breakfast is good and plentiful. All in all a fine inexpensive option here.

I have stayed at Pension Lavender twice now (during winter) and both times i have absolutely enjoyed it. The breakfast is really nice, something different each morning. The whole pension is very clean, great dry room set up. My only complaint is that the dryer does not work that well, but wet clothes dries quickly because the air is very dry in winter. Well heated place (apart from the basement).

Definitely going to book here next winter ;)

Although pension lavender is not as grand as hotels but it gave me impressions of clean, neat and cozy. People can gather around at the common area and drink coffee and hot tea. The breakfast is nice and fruitful! Good experience!

Cozy is the best word to describe this hotel.

I had no choice but to book this hotel and I was glad that I did.

Before I checked in to this hotel, I was really skeptical becuase of the fact that we had to share bath. But to my surprise, it was by far better than most of the 4 to 5 stars hotels I had stayed around the world.

The old lady, who I think should be the owner, greeted up and check us in promptly dispite the fact that we didn't check in until really late at night, almost 11pm. Best of all, this old lady speak English rather well as most of the local Japanese are unable to communicate effective in foreign language.

The room is very simple, TV, A/C and that's about it but it was very roomy, clean and tidy. That's exactly what I need because we don't really utilize any other amenties in any other hotel during our travel anyway.

In the morning, we went to their dinning room to had breakfast and I must say, their breakfast it propbably the best I had throughout my 3 weeks trip in Japan.

One thing about this place is that the location is a little further away from the sightseeing area and the parkings are very limited. If you were to travel their by JR, you can contact the hotel and arrange for pickup, this is what I have heard from others in the hotel.

We were so happy when we checked into this pension because it was so nice and cosy. Our triple room was generously sized, and so was the bathroom, which was big, spotless, and bright and airy. On top of that, the pension is very clean, since everyone had to remove their shoes at the door and put on bedroom slippers.

The facilities are great too; there is a small drinks counter with a coffee machine as well as sachets of instant coffee, tea and hot chocolate, and a massage chair in the cosy living room. Every morning, a healthy, yummy (and filling!) breakfast consisting of a tiny cup of hot soup, fresh cooked vegetables or salad, a hot, cooked dish like rosti or quiche, a basket of soft rolls and a plate of cut fruit. It also had a breakfast bar with juices and cornflakes. I stayed there four nights and the breakfast was different every day.

The owner was very nice and helpful too. He helped us make bookings for jam making classes etc, and also recommended us some very good restaurants especially the curry restaurant. Ask him about it!

Overall, a great stay.

My 14 yo daughter & I stayed 14 nights at Pension Lavender from the 26/12/2018.
The recently renovated Pension Lavender ticked all the boxes - easy walking distance to the ski fields on the Kitanomine side, immaculate room with daily housekeeping, comfy beds, quilts & pillows, awesome breakfasts and extremely friendly & helpful staff. The 3 friendly bobtail house cats were also a hit with my daughter.
The common area provided a fantastic place to socialize and meet fellow guests. It was complete with fireplace (roaring every night), massage chair, foot massager and comfortable seating to relax in at the end of a tough day in the snow. Complimentary hot beverages are also available along with a microwave & fridge. Downstairs there's a dry-room, washing machine and dryer and ample storage for ski & snowboarding gear.
A great selection of restaurants & cafes are a short walk away, along with a Seven Eleven convenience store. The 7/11 is open 24 hours/day, has an international ATM and provides fantastic take home meals for nights that you just want to simply stay in.
Being able to purchase discounted daily lift vouchers from reception was also a bonus, saving us quite a few yen over the two weeks.
As our first visit to Japan, Pension Lavender has really set the bar high for future visits.
Although it was sad to leave, we're already planning our return trip!

I had the same question and I doubt there is an Onsen in the pension. Instead, I'm wondering if there're any other paid Onsen closeby within walking distance.

You'll have to walk or take a taxi from the train station. There is a bus service that runs out of the Hotel Naturwald, which is 200m away from Pension Lavender. The ski lifts are a 5 minute walk away, no transfer needed.
