We found this place after all other options to find a place to stay for two nights in Furano exhausted. The good thing about Akiba is that it is only about 300 meters away from JR Furano station. It sounds nice. But you also need to understand that in fact most activities in Furano happen are not around the town. Most tourists will travel to the hill side to go the sightseeing and other activities.

We stayed in two rooms. We originally booked two rooms for us and two daughters. But our youngest daughter joined the trip in the last minute and the owner is kind enough to allow us to take her in, of course with additional charge.

On the whole, this is a clean place. All the basic facilities are there. But the major problem that we found with Akiba is that there is only one bathroom (but enough toilets) or all the residents staying there. This may be a problem if a number of tourists go back to Akiba after one whole day's trip and hope to take a shower immediately.

I think this is something the owner should consider in the long run.

The owner is a clean freak. Would you believe it, not even a speck of dust on the floor. The tatami mattress and pillow may sound and feel slightly uncomfortable but it will give you the best night sleep without any aches or pain the next day. He gives you a ride to the ski resort but you must let him know in advance. Furano is a quiet town. Everyone sleeps after 9 pm.

After reading all the reviews and that I could only shower from 5pm to 10pm, I was really concerned as according to my itinerary for that day I would be arriving at 11am, leaving my luggage there, join a Twinkle Bus Biei Tour that will bring me to Asahikawa and then come back to Furano again arriving back just after 10pm. I feared that I could not shower during my stay there.

I emailed beforehand and they said I could use the shower room after 10pm.

In the end the Bus Tour was fully booked so I checked in at around 5pm, quickly took my shower then, went out for dinner in this quiet, quiet town (very hard to find food to eat) and then came back to sleep for the night and left again early next morning.

The room was tatami-style with futons. Quite comfy for my one night stay. Wifi is strong.

Had a wonderful one night stay in this little minsyuku about 400 metres from the train station. Owner was extremely kind. As a was renting a car, I literally "dumped" my luggage with him as I wanted to rush to Ningle Terrace before returning the car. When I returned, the luggage was neatly put into my room already.

The room is extremely spacious and the entire minsyuku was spotlessly clean. The futon was thick and comfortable.

The minsyuku practices specific bath times so, you'd need to arrange with the owner if you aren't able to follow the schedule.

I really enjoyed my stay at this little minsyuku which felt like a very neat and tidy home. If I visit Furano again, I would definitely return for a stay.

The pension is near the Furano train station. The room I stayed was not big but it is clean. This rooms are Japanese tatami. My room is facing the road and I can hear cars passing by.
If you need hot water, you need to heat the water in the the public area. If you do not plan to have meal at pension, you have to walk about 10 minutes to find one.
There are one supermarket , a small fresh farmers' market, and a bakery shop by 15-20 minutes walk.

located approximately 5 minutes walk from Furano train / bus station. Toyota car rental shop is along the way if you want to rent a car to explore the the town next day.

Everything is clean and looks quite new, bathroom is on sharing basis, shampoo for hair and body is available however towels is not provided. You may use your own towels or rent from the owner at a small fee of 150 Yen per set (bath and hand towels). Overall it was a great stay!

Less than 10 mins walk away fron furano station, pretty wasy to access. But it was pretty difficult to find a convenience store nearby, had to walk for about 15 mins b4 we found one.
Only one shower room on the ground floor for all to use and you can only use it from 5 to 10pm. I personally found this rule pretty annoying.
There is no common area available, only a small dinning area open during meal times. Only cups, boiler, fridge amd microwave provided. We left our luggage after checkout and when we return in the afternoon to collect, we requested to rest awhile in the dinning area but the owner did not allow us to do so. Also there are other rules such as lights out from 10 to 11pm and you have to be back to the hostel by 11pm as the doors will be locked.
On the bright side, the shower room was really large, and like all hostels in Japan, it was very clean.
