Well located in front of the K ski area, with ski in/out facilities. It also has a ski rental shop within the hotel and gives discount to hotel guests.

It has a small onsen at the basement. The hotel provides free flow drinks and snacks and beer at certain time of the day.

Breakfast buffet was good, and generous spread.

To get to the other shin furano ski area, you can take a bus ride for about 200 yen per person each way. Also a short ride from furano train station. There are many restaurants within walking distance from the hotel.

Taxi there is very expensive, from the shin furano hotel back to the hotel costs about 2000yen for a short 5-10 min ride.

We stayed with three generations. Because we were a large group, they made a reservation for dinner time when we arrived, and also reserved breakfast time after dinner.
During dinner, Mr. Fukuro Morino came around to our table and told us about the precious tomatoes grown by Furano tomato farmers. They were especially delicious.
The elevator was crowded, so we used the stairs, and there were many photos of Furano from the past and stories from the filming of Kita no Kuni Kara, and I wanted to go up to a floor above the one we were staying on.
My grandchildren were very happy in the play area, and we had a large public bath and sweets, so there was a lot to enjoy at the hotel if you book with dinner included, so it was great.
The corner that was like an adult hideaway was also wonderful.

We booked this futurwald furano ski hotel for its location. Also as it had hot spring baths for relaxing after skiing.
The staff are all very nice, friendly and helpful!
The nice lady behind the check in counter even booked my ski pass with discount.
The only thing I could say they can improve on is better coffee, and organizing dinner and breakfast better .
Maybe don't take as many bookings ?
Other than that it's a perfect place to stay as they have warm drying room /ski lockers right out the front of the hotel ( across the road from the "kitanomine " F chair lift ) excellent 👌 if you want to access the whole furano ski resort....
Makes it easier to have a break back at hotel and not as busy as main " shin furano prince hotel side ".
Yes overall good location, good for family or adults.
The level 2 of hotel has areas to read or sip on a suntory whiskey after a good day in Furanos powder snow ❄️.
I did note that the lifts in hotel get crowded but stairs are a great option if needed in a hurry.
Thanks again

This is our 3rd stay in Furano Naturawald. My kids are attracted to the warm and homely environment of this hotel from the 1st time we stayed in this hotel.

Aside from its strategic location where the hotel faces the Kitanomine slope and is the drop off point for Kitanomine Gondola, there are many sections of the hotel which remind us of the feeling of “home away from home”.

There is a play area for the children and a study area for quiet reading. Interestingly, there is common area where guests can mingle with each other, roast marshmallow and have a cup of hot drinks, all complimentary.

The in-house onsen is another all-time favorite. It is rarely crowded as the opening hours are long allowing guests to use throughout the night.

Most importantly, every staff is very friendly and helpful despite the language barrier. Special mention goes to Ms Yuka Yokozawa who helped us from day 1 as she is fluent in English. A very valuable asset in the hotel industry given the number of foreign guests in this hotel. My wife was injured at the ski slope and had to go to the hospital. Yuka kindly helped to translate a list of instructions for the hospital staff to read. We are very grateful for her kind assistance.

In addition, we would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Hiroshi Kita for acknowledging us as the hotel’s loyal customers. Thank you to Ms Youko Kitazawa and restaurant manager, Yonezawa Matsahiro for their concern of my wife’s knee. We would also like to thank the two Taiwanese interns at the reception who are helpful and ever willing to offer their assistance.

All in all, this is a family friendly hotel with good amenities and great hospitality.

I'm completely blown away by this place. Given the current travel situation, they'd be forgiven for withdrawing a lot of the bells and whistles they offer, but from what I can tell it's all still there.

I'm currently living in Japan and not being of Japanese origin I'm used to getting looked at quizzically and not being able to communicate very well (due to my lack of Japanese which is completely my fault). This hotel has plenty of English speakers who were so helpful, including in checking me in and also explaining the dinner situation.

There's SO many freebies - you can pick 5 toiletries per day on check in (the essentials are already in your room, these are extras like face masks etc) and they have a free snack corner with loads of different foods and drinks including the cute marshmallow grilling area.

The dinner buffet is huge with loads of different options for pretty much any preference, though of course it's seafood heavy. Some highlights were the seafood you can grill yourself at your table, the freshly fried tempura and the super fresh tuna rib.

I haven't had breakfast yet because I couldn't wait to write this review, but I'm sure it'll be just as spectacular.

I didn't check out the onsen but I believe there's even more freebies to be had there!

There were also tons of activities for little kids like dress up etc. I'm just sad that I didn't have a sighting of the hotel's mascots!

You can virtually walk over to the ski slope at ease. Breakfast is superb with wide spread of hot and cold food for all guests. Tea time snacks and dinner dessert buffet are available for free.
Room is comfortable and not too small for couples with ski gear, although ski lockers are provided by hotel.
Staff courtesy and helpfulness are given, as expected of most Japanese hotels.
My wife and I enjoyed our 7 nights stay at Naturwald, although the beds are bit soft.

The hotel's service, food, location, etc. are all perfect and I would give it 5 points. However, the free lounge is a lawless area. It is an unlimited banquet hall. This is probably a problem on the part of some customers. If there were some rules, it would be comfortable, but it would be difficult to ask the hotel to do so.

"3 star price with a 5 star service and facility"

As you see my profile history i dont usually wrote much about hotel review, but I feel i need to do at least this much to share with you about Hotel Naturwald.

I visited Furano on 23rd March - 31st March. There are 2 ski zone in Furano which is "Kitanomine zone" and "Furano zone" which were about 5mins drive between one another . My friend reccomended this as this is just right in front of Kitanomine ski chairlift, and to my dissapointment when i reach i found out that Kitanomine zone is closed for the season, i have no idea why because the weather is still amazing during my whole trip and its snowing on daily basis . Well anyway upon checking in "Kita-san" the manager there greeted me and told me that there is a FREE shuttle bus provided from the hotel to Furano Zone up to 5 different timing daily , start as early as 8.30am ( chairlift and gondola starts at 9am and ends at 4pm during my visit ) and there you go, my problem is all solved, what a delightful news it was to me and thats just a start of all my memorable experience there . Well anyway to make it easy for you readers, i'll break it down in different category .

DIRECTION
"If you're arriving from New Chitose International Terminal, proceed to 2F (second floor) on the left hand side there's a whole counter of different bus company that will bring you to all places you want to go, to niseko, sapporo town, rusutus, kiroro etc .
Find "Hokkaido Resort Liner" counter there and book your preffered time slot, i took the 5.50pm timing that time as my flight reached about 3.30pm, please always give yourself 60min at least due to unexpected long wait on luggage claim and immigration clearance.
It is highly advisable that you book your bus scheduled online , there's a few departure time depend on your preference.
here's the link for your reference http://www.access-n.jp/sp/
The bus will cost about ¥3900/- one way, it took about 2hour30min and it stop EXACTLY in front of Naturwald hotel, how sweet can that be :)

FACILITIES
In total this is a 5 Storey Hotel consist of :

1st floor -
"Parking area" : if you're driving, you park your car and you can enter from here as well
"Restaurant" : This is where you have your buffet breakfast or dinner, the spread is sumptuous with both local delicacy and western needs.
"Sauna" : this is one of the main highlights, its Free of Charge for in house guests, there's 2 indoor hot tub and you can also go outside which is my favourite always, natural furano cooling weather plus hot sauna , after whole day of skiing/sboarding, you know how it feels :) ahhhhh , do remember the culture in Japan before going into the hot tub, please please always clean yourself up as you're not the only one using it, hygiene is the most important so please be considerate. The sauna is full facilities, Shampoo , Body gel, Conditioner, Shaving gel, Razor, toothbrush, toothpick,Hairdryer,Small towel , vending machine , Small locker room, and OH dear i must mention this ! YUMMY free Ice Cream after sauna is outside get one and you're in heaven :)

Lobby floor/Lb -
This is where the receptionist counter is located, there's also a convenience in house that sells all short of snacks ,drinks, even beer, so cut the hassle of walking 5min downhill to the nearest 7-11 sweet ! Operate 24 hours
There's a huge lounge sofa seating area here often every evening the hotel provide entertainment for guest at 8pm during my visit every evening such as magic show, ballon sculpture which will definitely entertain yourselves and family and time to mingle around with the guest and staff .
There's an individual ski /sb locker storage space also with an individual key given out during check in, where you can cut the hassle to carry it to your room . This is located outside the lobby, upon entering from main entrance on your right handside.
The daily shuttle bus 8.30am,9am,10am,etc to furano zone ski area is also located here on the lobby floor

Tips : you must book your preferred bus timing in advance on daily basis, and also you can purchase your discounted ski lift passes here, its significantly cheaper to buy here, which cost me ¥3300/- per day compare to ¥5200/- at furano zone itself. Highly reccomended to purchase your lift passes here. The price is the same whether you purchase daily or 3 day or 7 days.
There's also a "chuo bus" in front of this hotel where it will shuttle you to furano town/train station, asahikawa airport, etc, the cost is starting from ¥150,160,210,etc depend on where you're going, and again you can always ask any of the staff in lobby, they're just super friendly!!

2Floor - IMPORTANT
There's a few facilities here which you will thanks me later for reading this
- PILLOW - yes ! There's a selection of different types of pillow that will enhance you to sleep better , this is a must to grab one for yourself during your trip because i found the pillow in the room provided is not the most comfortable, once i gotten a pillow from here it rocks! Sleep within a min ! Its located directly in front of the Lift, and yes its FREE :)
- LIBRARY - there's plenty of Magazines,Books,Japanese comic books, both avail in Japanese and English which helps, and also computer for your working station, although the hotel itself already have a free strong wifi i find this real helpful .
- SUPREAME massage - the massage operates from 6.30pm - 10.30pm last order, good to have once after long day of ski/sb , well i have twice :) and a must try CHOCHOLATE facial using ROYCE chocholate which cost about ¥5000/-
- LAUNDRY - i am very happy about this because for ¥400 to ¥500 yen, you can have your shirt wash and dry at one machine in 2hours, and the 2in1 machine is fantastic, it dry my cloth perfectly , it came with a security feature such as 4digit pin code to open and lock your laundry which is great to have, but out of courtesy obviously you dont wanna leave your cloth there whole day ( they only accept 100yen coin ) there's 5 machine there so should not be an issue for using it .
- KIDS PLAYGROUND - yes you do not hear wrongly, there's even an indoor kids fun zone here which is great to have considering there's many family with younger kids here will enjoy .

3rd,4th,5th -
This is where all the rooms is located, which half of 2nd floor also have rooms, in total there's 81 room if i recall when i ask kita-san about it .
Inside the room, you're given a pair of pyjamas that is super comfy and you can wear those literally anywhere within the hotel boundary to the sauna, to the lobby, to the library, etc as you will notice most people do that . Beds are comfy , the room is adequate for 2-3pax , 4pax i dont think so, the last i check

In Summary, there's too many little sweet gestures that the personnnel and staff there did that makes my stay memorable and i believe it will to other guest too, im very satisfy and cant find any fault , for the price that i pay that is less than $100/-night this is gonna be my only choice hotel when i come back, the price is almost 4-5'times cheaper than "New Furano Prince Hotel" which make it even sweeter
Thanks again Kita san, Chinami, Yoko, Sato Mami, Yurie, and also the driver Chiba san and Tanida san for all your extra mile effort to help me on my first visit to Furano. Hontoni Arigatou Gozaimas ! As ive said, in all other places i go, Niseko,Hakuba,Nozawa, i dont even waste time reviewing the place im staying and Yes im definitely coming back next season ! So see you all soon !

(Sorry to say, for Year 2017 January, Kita-san share with me almost all of the dates is already fully booked! Thats crazy)

Furano ski season normally ends at First week of May, do let me know if any of you going next season, who knows we can Ski/Boards together if time allow !
For your info,Naturwald means Natural Forest in Germany i always thought its natural world lol

Apologize for the long winded review,do let me know if you find this helpful.

First up I didn't stay here however we were dropped off to wait for our bus. It was winter and we hoped to stay inside the lobby to keep warm unfortunately a middle aged lady chased us out of the lobby and insisted we wait outside in the cold. Even when I tried to explain, she wouldn't listen. I tried asking for someone who spoke English but she would have none of it. I was very disappointed. Yes I know you have every right to keep us out. My group had a child and it was -1c that day. We had to wait over an hour out in the cold outside the hotel. That's just plain mean. We were a group of 3 and we even offered to buy drinks inside. You are very sure that if we ever get a chance to visit Furano, Naturwald would be the last place I will book.

We stayed here in July 2010.

This was the most expensive hotel we stayed in for the whole of our Hokkaido trip. We don't speak nor read Jap, hence there were other smaller hotels which we could not book. July was peak season and we were willing to pay more than US$400 for a room for 3 persons. Unfortunately it was also the most disappointing one. The exterior looks good, but the interior needs upgrade. The room is rather drabby and the beds were creaky. Food standard was similar to 3 star hotel quality.
