My wife and I stayed in the Hotel Edward 1er in Monpazier for five nights in the summer of 2014, so apologies about the long overdue review. We had a lovely time here and really enjoyed all that the hotel had to offer including the immaculate rooms, the lovely outdoor pool area and the delicious food in the restaurant at...

Spent 6 nights at the end of October checking out the area for possible retirement. All I can say is that if you are visiting this area for any reason check into the Edward 1er and enjoy the benefits of the owners enthusiasm. For a first class stay and fine dining my wife and I will certainly be returning in...

We stayed in eight different properties as we drove around the beautiful Dordogne area. This was our favorite hotel. The room furnishings and size, bed, bathroom and view were all first rate. Since we were there in October, it was an exceptional value. The breakfast was also by far the best we had. Furthermore, the staff couldn't have been nicer...

We spent 2 nights in Hotel Edward 1er during our recent holiday touring France. The hotel had a very welcoming and relaxed ambience whilst also offering a top class experience. A sense of calm pervades. The staff were all very friendly and efficient without being intrusive. Our room on the first floor was very comfortable, quiet and well-appointed. The weather...

I stayed in Hotel Edward 1er recently on a 2 week honeymoon travelling around France. It's a lovely place that I would recommend very highly, the building is stunning and literally right in the centre of the beautiful town of Monpazier. There's a great little pool which is perfect for sunbathing and having a quick drink, a very nice bar...

We returned recently to the Edward 1er, having last visited four years ago, and found the hotel even better than before particularly now that it has been extended most succesfully. The staff were delightful and so helpful, the food excellent and the public rooms very comfortable - we congratulate our hosts on running such an estimable establishment and look forward...

From the street, Hotel Edward 1er is quite spectacular. You are presented with a beautiful old Chateau on the edge of the medieval village of Monpazier, looking out over beautiful green countryside. However rather that the historic experience we expected, we were ushered to a new wing of the hotel. Our rooms were spartan and decorated with not particularly attractive...
