We were lucky enough to be booked into this delightful, renovated farmhouse for three nights in early May whilst on a cycling holiday. The family have made a wonderful job of creating a most relaxing and welcoming rural retreat that sits on high ground just a few kilometres back from the beach, the elevated position giving it fine views, cooler breezes and a feeling of calm, away from the crowded coastal strip. The garden receives great attention and looks wonderful. Across the lawn and with a panoramic view is the new swimming pool. Whether eating breakfast al fresco or reading beside the pool, the work Jose and his family have put into their holiday establishment makes it an excellent holiday destination which I would happily recommend.
We came to this wonderful place, several times a year! I think it says it all about how we love it! If you looking for a quit place, with nature around, listening the birds and the frogs, and at same time near the beaches, this is it! Oh and the natural orange juice at breakfast humy:) Thank you very much Mrs Fatima and husband, always very helpful and thoughtful, providing us an excelente holiday. Casa do campo do vale do asno is a lovely traditional Portuguese "cottage" in a very peaceful little hill 5 km away from the beach. The owners are very friendly and helpful and the house is beautiful, with its wonderful garden and a nice lake (bio pool). The rooms have all you need, are clean and colourful. Amazing stay!
Sometimes you come across a gem of a place and you think I have to remember it and recommend it. This is one such place. José and his lady wife are more than welcoming and you get a good night's sleep. Just one thing - to find it go to centre of Altura town on main road and look for signpost. Enjoy!
This place is just great for everyone, doesn't matter if you travel alone, as a couple or with kids. If you are looking for a nice place to relax and enjoy some peace you will not be sorry. The owners make you feel at home and go all out to make sure you are welcome. It's also about 8 minutes drive to the beach which is great as well. Breakfast is very nice and the natural lake area is an excellent alternative to the beach in case you don't feel like picking up the car and drive to the beach, or simply enjoy a nice end if day. There's a "cooking area" available where you can make barbecues or cook using the pans available (microwave and stove are available as well). We actually stayed for one more night as we where having such a great time. Last but not least, the place is very clean! A big THANK YOU to everyone at Vale do Asno for the quality time we had.…
