We spent a very nice holiday at the Petit Sonnailler. Beautiful surroundings, great site. Breathes history. We took the blue room whitch was fine for a family of 4 . It has its own entrance and a small terrace. Breakfast is good and plenty, taken inside the castle in a great chamber with nicely fitted antique furniture. The welcome is...

We loved our three-day stay here in September. The property is beautiful, the wine is excellent and we loved that it was off the beaten track, up in the hills about 20 minutes from Salon de Provence. Dominique is really the perfect host: warm, accommodating, and helpful. The chateau is great for a romantic getaway but it was unexpectedly perfect...

My husband and I spent 3 nights at the Chateau Petit Sonnailler and we enjoyed our stay very much. We had the room, called "Côté vigne" - a room with a view to the grape fields and to the pool. The people working there (family Brulat and Martha, their right hand) are very special and warm. We will definately visit...

A very warm welcome. The bedrooms are very nice. The wine produced in this castle is excellent. This location is also an asset in Provence (Luberon, Les Baux de Provence, Aix-en-Provence, Arles and Camargue are not far away).

We stayed 7 nights in the beginning of July at Le Château Petit Sonnailler and really liked the atmosphere of this relaxed and charming place. We booked the “chambre bleue” and were really happy with this choice because it comes with its “own” beautiful terrace in the patio of the Château. Since we had really nice weather the petit-déjeuner (Coffee,...

After staying in bustling Paris and over-the-top Nice, we wanted to experience the "real" France - its countryside. Per the recommendation of a French friend, the 4 of us stayed in the Petit Sonailler for 3 nights. The location near the town of Salon and up in the hills was fantastic. We were able to take day-trips all over Provence:...

My husband and I checked out of this chateau just today, after a three-night stay. I cannot recommend this place enough. I would strongly recommend it to any one who is sick of small hotels and is looking for a taste of the French countryside. Located in a mountain, this beautiful chateau built in the 12th century boasts of acres...

We spent a few days in this beautiful place in a couple of occasions. We discovered it through one of those vinery B&B books and we felt in love immediately. This little B&B is built around an ancient tower and the whole house is full of charm. It radiates character and the rooms (we stayed in all of them I...

This beautiful, authentic chateau is far from everything, so a wonderful quiet retreat and great to stroll past vineyards. Stay here if you are also hiring a car - it's far from any train station. The rose wine produced here is lovely and we were treated to a complimentary glass every afternoon of our stay. The breakfast is fine if...

This beautiful bed & breakfast is in the Provencal countryside tucked away from the big cities and is on a hill overlooking a vineyard. We stayed in the Blue room and had plenty of room to stretch out. There is a loft with 2 single beds, plus another daybed on the ground floor (with the master bed). Dominque was a...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A HAVEN OF PEACE AMONG WINES AND GARRIGUE VEGETATION Your stay at the Chateau Petit Sonnailler is a new "art de vivre". This is due to the rich history of this Commanderie of Templiers dating from the 12th century and our expertise in welcoming our guests in the Chateau where three beautiful bedrooms elegantly decorated and luminous, each of them of a different nature, are available. While you're staying with us, take the time to discover and taste our different cuvees << Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence>> - AOP designation - produced on the vineyard, and penetrate the secrets of their preparation. Not to forget our very selective production of olive oil and its infinite flavours. The Brulat family will be delighted to welcome you in this beautiful setting and make your stay a memorable event. A HISTORICAL SITE The Chateau Petit Sonnailler dates from the 10th century with the tower added later in the 12th century. It is located along an ancient salt route, used by trades transporting salt from salt mills in the midi to the Central regions of France. During this period, the Chateau was used as a toll-house. The Chateau was the central point of a huge estate, covered by forest, crops and vines. The current owners are gradually restoring the site to its former condition and charm. STAYING AT THE CHATEAU PETIT SONNAILLER ALSO MEANS ... A life connected to the rhythm of the wines, from the first leaves or the growing of the grapes to the excitement of the harvest period! Our vines are grown between 250 and 300 meters altitude. The 45-hectare vineyard is located on chalky terrain and is farmed in the traditional way with several ploughings throughout the seasons. A WONDERFUL STAY IN THE HEART OF PROVENCE This is an ideal setting for a unique moment of serenity spent among the delightful scents of Provence and the prestigious sites in the vicinity such as le Luberon and its famous perched villages, les Alpilles mountains, Arles and La Camargue. "La Provence" also means discovering new taste thanks to our farmers' markets where you'll have the chance to enjoy their excellent products. During the summer season, you'll have the opportunity to attend several festivals: Avignon, Aix en Provence, La Roque-d'Antheron and Salon de Provence. ... more   less
