We stayed at the Porcupine Ridge Guest House after a family wedding near Pretoria. We were a party of nine family and friends. The proprietors Janet and John were very welcoming and they gave us very sound advice about the Kruger Park, nearby restaurants and other places of interest. The rooms were first class, comfortable beds with electric blankets. The...

There was nine in our group and we were looked after by Janet and John, not just morning and evening but anytime during the day when we were there. Their house was our house and, with a 5 year old adventurous boy in our group, that was above and beyond what would normally be expected. The breakfasts were "any size"...

We stayed at Porcupine Ridge for 6 nights in July 2011. Janet and John were excellent hosts offering a warm welcome and doing everything they could to ensure that we had a wonderful time whilst we were with them. Had a one night stay at Porcupine Ridge and it has to be one of the most pleasant stays I've had in any guesthouse. Everything was done to make us feel welcome and comfortable and the house and surroundings were just lovely. The hosts are friendly, helpful and knowledgable about the surrounding area, sightseeing, restaurants, etc. The rooms are clean, attractive and fairly spacious. This is an excellent base for exploring the Panorama Route/ Blyde River Canyon, and a good stopping off point on the way...

Porcupine Ridge is our favourite get-away spot for the weekend in South Africa. After staying here several times, I still can not believe that the guidebooks have not picked up on this hidden gem yet, just outside Sabie on the road to Kruger park (45 minutes). Located on the grounds of a previous gold mine estate, Porcupine Ridge offers immaculate...
