We thought we had arrived on a cowboy film set until we looked more carefully and saw all the chapels, or hermitas, around the town. The streets are all sandy and there are rails outside the houses for tying up horses. The Hotel Toruna overlooks the lake on which hundreds of birds come and go, it's absolutely lovely.

Delightful hotel in a lovely position beside a very large lagoon (with masses of water birds including flamingos at the right time of year!). The lagoon was completely dry during our stay (early October) and was being grazed by some of the many horses in the area. El Rocio itself is an extraordinary and unique place (I’m not going to... Clean, fresh fruit and sherry drink available in foyer, comfortable. Breakfast ok. Restaurant good for evening meal. Ideal place for visiting Donana national park. Rocio itself very interesting with its focus on the annual pilgrimage to the 'Ermita' at Pentecost. Like a Wild West film set.

Clean room, comfortable bed. Air conditioning. Restaurant okay at best. Located on the wetlands but unfortunately dry season. I would recommend. Can walk everwhere but all the streets are sand. The walk along wetlands nice

Stayed here two nights and I couldn't recommend it enough. Clean, comfortable, welcoming and surprisingly cheap. Comfortable bed, excellent shower and wifi. Great location and the restaurant is fantastic too! Great place to stay if you're planning an doing a few day trips around (we visited Matalascañas and El Rompido).

The Hotel Toruño may only be a 2* hotel, but it is very clean and comfortable. The hotel has some great decoration and the restaurant just over the way serves great food. Staff were excellent and friendly, rooms clean and spacious with good beds and a great shower. El Rocio itself is an unusual town, popular with Spanish tourists and... More

Arrived midday staff underwhelming to say the least. Couldn't even get a coffee. The restaurant was closed they failed to mention this when booking so a big disappointment. Breakfast as follows, one cereal a cornflaky thing like cardboard. Lots of yogurt all banana and warm. Stale bread and a non functioning toaster. So warm stale bread with strawberry jam yummy.... We stayed at this hotel on a birding holiday as part of a group, it has a stunning position right beside the lagoon, it is quite small and has pleasant but basic amenities, our room was clean and had basic furnishings with two rather narrow single beds, the shower was in the bath but it was clean and worked OK.... The hotel is located on Plaza Acebuchal (Acebuchal means wild olive tree) which has some incredibly old (maybe 600 years or more) olive trees. The views from the rooms overlooking the lagoon - which is directly in front of the hotel were stunning. Quiet location, check Google maps before going, you cannot drive along front of lagoon past the big... More

Although the hotel is not the most modern, it is in keeping with the old Spanish charm of the town with it's sand streets. My room was comfortable with a balcony overlooking the lake, so perfect for watching the large amount of flamingos feeding here. There is no restaurant or bar in the hotel, but their sister restaurant is only... More
