Mosquito central We arrived at this hotel with average expectations in light of the current issues surrounding covid. Unfortunately the hotel failed to live up to them. We had a standard double which was small, cramped and outdated. The bathroom was tiny and the shower enclosure extremely small. There was a small TV in the room however the only English speaking channels were CNN and dw and that's it. The patio was ok but the furniture was dire, small solid plastic seats which could not be sat on for more than 10 minutes at a time and also the adjoining walls are very low so you get to know your neighbours very well! There is a small fridge so at least you can keep some drinks cool in the room. All these things are annoying however they pale in comparison to the situation regarding the air conditioning. The management had shut off the cold feed meaning you could only heat the room and not cool it. They clearly do this to save money out of season however the temperature is still 25 degrees outside! After complaining we were told to "open the windows" if we are too hot. The issue with this is there was only one window, a 2ft x 2ft square in the bathroom, if you wanted more air you had to open the front and patio doors to establish a through draft. This however allowed the local population of mosquitos free access to your flesh while you slept. By the time I left I had at least 10 painful swollen bites which all happened at night. We did ask for a fan instead but our request was ignored. All very frustrating when the website clearly says "air conditioning" The drinks at the bar are expensive so you won't be getting drunk unless you have deep pockets. (5euro for small bottle of Corona, 7euro for a cocktail) The breakfast ok but very limited. Only hot choices were scrambled egg and "bacon" (more like fried greasy ham) and occasionally some other meat. There was toast except the bread is akin to diet nimble bread so not so great. No omelette No beans No fried eggs No boiled eggs No decent bacon No decent sausages You won't be getting your full English here! You can get free coffee at breakfast ONLY. It is from a vending machine and not that nice. Breakfast closes at 9:30am which is far too early, but more annoying is the bar doesn't open until 11:00am, so if you miss breakfast then you have to wait until 11am for your morning coffee. There are no tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The food for lunch and dinner was ok but most of the time it was cold or tepid. You can only have free water or wine with meals and there is no option to buy a drink so you need to go to the bar first then carry your drinks in. The pool area is very nice except when we went the water was freezing so rendered the pool unusable. Even the kids were struggling to get in. You also have to wear a swim cap which are 2euro each and if you want a pool towel you also have to rent them too. The location is nice, and there are some nice beaches within walking distance, and a small town just down the road. If you get sick of the hotel food (you will) try madrugas cafe, it's just in front of the hotel by the sea, they serve nice pizza and burgers, we had lunch there most days. The bar area is sparse and unwelcoming, and the mosquitos fly freely inside the bar so you will need repellent, there are no nets or any other effort being made to stop them as far as I could see. Can't fault the cleaners as the place is spotless, the bar staff are friendly and helpful. Overall the food, mealtimes, pool being cold, constant bites from mosquitos and the lack of air conditioning really let it down for us so we won't be returning or recommending to friends which is a shame because these things are easily rectified. …
Although due to Covid 19, we stayed at the hotel out of season and that the hotel was only about 30% full, we had a very enjoyable week. All staff were very friendly and helpful, the meals were buffet style (adjusted to manage the pandemic). A full breakfast followed by 4 course lunches and dinners, augmented by an unlimited supply of red and white wine made the dining experience very enjoyable. The small bar was adequate for the numbers and entertainment was provided on 5 of the 7 nights. Regrettably due to it's location and the time of year, most outside attractions had or were very close to being closed, but this was not the fault of the hotel. We travelled with some trepidation, but the holiday was so well managed, our worries were quickly eased. Thank you to all the staff, who were definitely the reason the hotel is so pleasant. …
Stayed 5 nights but wished it had been longer. Reception staff very helpful and all covid 19 regulations met. Good entertainment at night and food although a little bland was OK especially the puddings. All areas were cleaned regularly. Would definitely go back
The first impression of the hotel was okay. However, after having our first breakfast our opinion changed dramatically. The breakfast was very unhygienic, some products were even moldy and there was barely something to choose from (which was our least problem). The (moldy) butter looked like gorgonzola, which is disgusting. After confronting the staff, the restaurant manager became really inappropriate and rude. He didn’t even make his excuse, but told us it was not his problem that the food was moldy. So, we didn’t want to have breakfast anymore at the hotel and asked the general manager to refund our breakfast, to have some elsewhere. Even this ended up in a disappointing situation, because he was not willing to help us either. Concluding, if you want to have a careless holiday with great food, good service and without any health problems. Please book another hotel!…
