Just on overnight stay during October. The manager was soo helpful , evening meal delicious and pool a welcome chill area. In French Guyana you don't get indoor pools because it's warm enough outside. Views out to garden more favourable. Area around hotel is residential so is peaceful at night. A short drive from downtown Cayenne.

We stayed in the villa. It was a nice house, though the title villa is a bit of a mismatch. The cleaning and service could be a lot better which made the price/quality less. The garden was beautiful but needs some maintenance as well. Swimming pool was nice and clean.

The positive point is the wonderful private exotic garden, with the swimming pool. It is extremely relaxing. Prices are low, even if in my opinion too high for the service offered Rooms are clean, but that’s it. When I arrived, my room was not available, because given to another guest by mistake. I was lucky another room was ready. Internet is not working at all. I went to the restaurant, and there were just 7 people. I had to wait form more than one hour, to receive a not complete dish (fries were missing). Breakfast is poor. From my point of view, this could be a good solution if you are on holiday, but if you are there for business I suggest to avoid

Responded 12 Jun 2014
Dear Sir, We would like to apologize for all the troubles you experienced during your stay in our hotel. Your comments will help us to improve the quality of our services. We are now working on our WIFI problems and on our breakfast formula. Concerning the restaurant, it should not have happened. If you have any spare time, would you mind to email us at direction.tournesol@orange.fr in order to give us détails and the date. We will then be able to take adequate mesures. Best Regards, Lucie

We spent 7 nights, on and off, around our diverse excursions in the forrests, on marshes, rivers, etc., and it was always great to return to our "Chaumière" where the atmosphere is quiet, the decor very natural, there is a lovely tropical garden that you can see around you from the pool or from your room or from the restaurant. The cuisine is typically French and Creole, and the menu is vast enough.

You need to go to Cayenne.... Novotel is fully booked ? You are on a budget ? .... Then stay at la Chaumiere The good: secluded, feels like country side and the staff is nice, rooms are basic but well taken care off, the swimming pool is small but clean with space to rest in a nice park, restaurant setting is nice, though food is very average ( but hey you are in Cayenne... You usually don't come here for tourism), service is quick and the beer is ice cold ! The bad: no serious Internet (the connection doesn't enable you to get on a VPN... Probably to slow), ask for upstairs rooms, dowstairs the rooms feel less safe (I did see though that the gendarmerie -military police- stays there). I still recommend the place, it's nothing special, but compared to the competition and for that price it's good to go for a night or two !
